*PENTHOUSE Studio * If you are looking for the very BEST studio available at the Honua Kai Resort & Spa, look no further. Our suite is just one of four 9th floor studio suites with spectacular sweeping ocean views. You will not find a finer studio suite at the Honua Kai Resort & Spa. Only the 9th floor suites can see above and over the neighboring building wing, providing you with a spectacular view of the Island of Lanai.
Our studio with its additional full size sofa bed will sleep one additional guest. Maximum of 3 guests only (either 3 adults OR 2 adults 1 child). No exceptions.
It is rare to be able to lay in bed and wake up looking at the ocean - you can do this from our suite! Our spacious studio with a lovely lanai patio looks directly out to Kaanapali Beach and the Island of Lanai. Residing in the inner courtyard which is highly desirable because of their protection from the wind, and have beautiful views of the resort and ocean.
We stock our studio with beach equipment: beach towels, chairs, umbrella, cooler. We also supply common spices in the kitchen, and a starter supply of paper goods and soaps.
Honua Kai Resort amenities also include; “Aina”, a wonderful gourmet deli, a 24 hour fitness center, health spa, multiple meandering swimming pools areas, and one of the most pristine beaches in the world. A beach side boardwalk accommodates walkers and joggers for miles of spectacular ocean views and the nearby Islands of Lanai and Molokai.

We stayed here in May. While we've stayed on this property several times this is the first time we've used VRBO. The condo is beautiful and totally as represented. It is the perfect size for a couple.and has a beautiful view, we enjoyed our morning coffee on the lanai. The checkin process was easy. Snorkeling is pretty good and so convient to have Dukes there, a great place for happy hour, dinner and breakfast for that matter. If you stay here you will not be disappointed. Thank you!
Loved everything about Honua Kai - our immaculate condo (we loved that it had everything we needed from kitchen supplies to beach chairs) and stunning balcony view, the staff, pools (with plenty of chairs!), Dukes, and easy access to other restaurants and shopping in Lahaina. We loved our time here. Couldn't have asked for anything more and if will recommend it highly to friends and family.
We picked this condo because:
1. Wanted to stay on a walkable beach. We were able to walk every morning on the beach path all the way to the other end of Kaanapali. You could walk to dinner or shops within 15 minutes.
2. Dukes for breakfast! It was an easy choice.
3. Quiet but not too quiet. There are the pools and amenities of a resort but it's not quite as crazy as some of the bigger ones. Plus it's quiet after 10.
4. Washer and dryer and full kitchen. This condo is so much more livable than a hotel room
5. But still has a standard room quality like a hotel. Unlike condos where the units are decorated different, we knew these rooms would be modern and well appointed.
6. Lanai. It actually was a bit cool and misty for 3 out of the 5 days but from the lanai it was dry and pleasant. We spent the afternoon relaxing with the ocean in front of us.
7. Rules are good. After staying in Waikiki we really appreciated the no smoking rule. We could enjoy our lanai without unpleasant drifting...
It's definitely not quiet during the day, you can hear the buzz from the pools and children playing. It would not be different than any other resort on the island in the afternoon and it didn't bother us because we have small kids ourselves.
This is a great condo and very well kept. My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay. The view was terrific. We will try to stay I this condo on our next trip. The resort is also terrific, with three pools For several types of activities.
My wife and I went out to Maui for our honeymoon and we were not disappointed. Everything about the resort was awesome as was the view from our room. Definitely if we make it back to Maui we will choose the same place. Super satisfied!
This is our 3rd time returning to Honua Kai. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we like to think of this as our second home. Even though some construction was in process, the view was absolutely breathtaking. The Condo was clean, many extras like the beach towels, chairs, umbrella & cooler were provided for use. Great idea to have accessible in the room. Saves money & time of having to arrange with Pool Services to set up.
Great location, shopping, restaurants, activity rentals nearby, there is even Boardwalk accessibility along the shoreline that will take you thru the Kaanapali Beach Resorts. if you love to walk or run , the boardwalk is the place to go, can't beat a view like it.
Dukes is located on the property which is a nice convenience for great food & drinks, especially after a long day of travel.. Merrimen's & The Gazebo are also a must for great food & spectacular views. If your looking for take out close by, we discovered Pizza Paradiso on this trip. Located across the street in the Times Market shopping plaza. Pizza is awesome if you like the thin, crispy crust. Several other take outs nearby are pretty good too.. So much to see & do while in Lahaina (close by) & the island itself.
The only suggestion we have is the 15.00 daily parking fee should be waived if you choose not to park in the underground parking structure. We noticed No parking fees are assessed for public parking on the premises, why should the guests have to pay if we choose to park in the open lot? Hopefully this could be an option when we look to return next year.
