About Agust & Hulda

We are two professionals in mid 50s - with two of the youngest ones still living at home. We work as managers in education and European cooperation which we have been involved with for many years. So we are quite used to and found of receiving people from many countries.

Agust & Hulda purchased this house in 2012

Why Agust & Hulda chose Reykjavik

Hulda's parents built the property in the 1980s to their needs: large family room and a special house in the back end of the garden that would serve as artists workplace, a place to live when the kids were old enough to almost move out - and then to rent our to family and friends. Now you too can experience this family complex.

What makes this house unique

You will be experiencing a real Icelandic home - as we live in the main building. You will enjoy the full privacy of B4 when needed, but if you want you can join us in the garden (weather permitting) or the conservatory - where we like to sit down for a conversation and a glass of wine: we are happy to talk about the history of Iceland, global warming, travelling in our country or to compare notes on traveling in different countries as we have traveled quite a lot - at least within Europe.

Lovely Vacation retreat

  • 5 of 5

This property worked out great for two adults and an 18 month old! They were super helpful and were able to provide a portable crib and high chair so those were things that made international travel just a bit easier with a toddler. The setting is beautiful and we wish we had better weather so we could have enjoyed the garden and porch swing a little more. (One thing on wandering around the yard though, be aware of the dog poop, not a lot of it, just wasn't looking out for it the first time around!). We really appreciated the help sorting out what we were going to do on our self-guided tour day; she helped us figure out a route and the main sites we were going to see (Gullfoss and Geyser). We had a rental car, but it's also close enough to park areas and the up and coming Perlan (which we want to go back and see once it's fully re-opened) and the mall area for easy walking. Downtown is a bit farther, but still very doable.

Only down side is that a few weeks before our stay we found out we would no longer be able to check in early on our arrival day. On flights coming from the US, you are most likely arriving early in the morning (7am), so it was disappointing to not be able to "arrive" and get settled and freshen up before starting to explore. Instead we spent our first day just driving around and resting in parking lots because we couldn't check-in until 2pm. Plan accordingly.

We would stay here again if we ever return to Iceland (hopefully we do), it was a fun three day Stopover.

Cottage feel

  • 5 of 5

Nice relaxing place. Everything you need is supplied. The hosts are really really nice. Their dog is sooooooo cute.

Id recommend this place to anyone staying in iceland. You must have a car though. About 5-10 min drive from the city.

P.S. i recommend bringing another suitcase full of food. Food is expensive in iceland. 2 -5 times the cost of everywhere else depending on the item.

Beautiful spring stay in Reykjavik

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with Agust and Hulda for 5 days in April, and it was wonderful! The property itself it great, very spacious and well decorated, full kitchen and everything you need. They also have a beautiful conservatory, perfect for sitting in the sun and reading if it's not quite warm enough to be outside. Agust was incredibly helpful in guiding our adventures, recommending routes and extra sites to see besides the main attractions listed in all the guide books. There's space for a rental car and a bus stop right across the street, so easy to get around with or without a car. I highly recommend and would stay there again! Thank you again!

A True Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in Reykjavik in between stays near Vik and on Snaefellsnes. It was a wonderful "city" stop in a beautiful home. Agust and Hulda have provided everything a traveller needs, plus some. (In addition, having laundry and a fully-equipped kitchen was just what we needed during the middle of our trip.) It was perfect for our family of four. We arrived without a definite itinerary for our days there, and Agust provided useful, insightful knowledge about the area, tailored to our family, that truly enhanced our trip. In addition, they were kind enough to hunt down an item our little one left behind and allow us to return days later to pick it up. We left with wonderful memories of this lovely property and hope to return again.

Great stay at B4!

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely place for us to stay during our recent visit to Iceland! Our hosts were gracious and informative, always willing to help us plan our itinerary! Agust communicated quickly, gave great information, and provided insightful and interesting conversation about Iceland when we had a few minutes to sit with him in his beautiful conservatory! The place was comfortable, warm and well furnished. It was close to everything! We would love to return and stay there again!

Perfect base to relax on your trip

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at B4. The interior is simply decorated with beautiful woodwork items. There is plenty of light and one feels at home all the time. It is very private. Access to nearby parks is quick and easy by foot. If you have a car the location is excellent, whether you want to head into the city (10 minutes) or elsewhere in any direction. Our hosts Agust and Hulda were very helpful and always available for questions. Our favorite part of the trip were recommendations that they offered. And then there is Safir, what a great dog!

Car: recommended

Set in a quiet residential area, close to the small green hill where “the Pearl” sits – providing nice walking paths and short distance to the only beach in Reykjavik. Green but very centrally located.

If you want to spend New Years Eve - there is possible not a better spot on the Planet to do so if you like fireworks; the hill side has the perfect view over the crazy Reykjavik sky at midnight and you can join the family party afterwards or join the may concerts taking place until the wee hours of new years morning.

If you are here for the Reykjavik Marathon in August - its a great location with plenty of practice trails + the owners will show you the route.

If you want to come for the Gay parade and festivals in early August we have all the information and contacts if you want to participate in the parade itself.
