Hudson Valley House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms . sleeps 6-9

Escape from your daily routine to enjoy this beautiful farmland property on the Wallkill River. The spacious, cathedral ceilinged living room will make you feel right at home to curl up with a book or enjoy a movie on the 50” TV. In addition to the lovely 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths, this house has a large 18x30 deck with a grill, ideal for entertaining groups or simply enjoying your morning coffee. The river is a short walk away where you will find another deck and chairs perfect for enjoying an evening sunset. When the temperature drops, the stone fireplace makes for a cozy night with a glass of wine or a fun game night with the numerous board games available! Remodeled in the spring of 2012, this house includes a brand new, up to date kitchen with a dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, icemaker, and almost any kitchen appliances you may need. This place is certainly your perfect “home away from home!”

Should you be traveling with your horses this property has a 2 stall barn with electric, running water, and 2 acres of fenced in land a short drive from 25,000 acres of trail riding at the Mohonk Preseve or Minnewaska State Park.

The Master bedroom is a loft above the common area, with a king size bed and private doorway to the bathroom. Two additional bedrooms have king beds. The “kids” room has a full/twin bunk-bed and a bucket of toys available for use. The luxurious upstairs bathroom enjoys heated floors, a claw foot bathtub and a 12 inch rain shower head. Second downstairs bathroom has additional shower.

Kitchen has a propane gas range, single oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator with icemaker/water dispenser. Fully stocked with dishes, glasses, silverware, pots and pans! Almost any kitchen necessities are here! Feel free to ask if you have specific questions.

The house has a washer/dryer if needed.

Back deck has a propane grill with plenty of seating.

There is an abundance of wood stocked in the basement for the fireplace. There is also a kayak, bikes, golf clubs and fishing rods available for you use. Should you decide to venture off the property, you will find the area has much to offer.

Published in National Geographic as one of their top 50 adventure towns to visit, New Paltz is a great place for exploring. Mohonk preserve and Minnewaska State part offer 25,000 acres of hiking, biking, horsebackriding, and of course world-renowned rock climbing “the Gunks.” There are numerous farm stands and apple orchards to visit where they frequently have ‘pick your own’ options for a playful afternoon. The Hudson Valley wine trail also includes Robibero (1/2 mile away), Whitecliff, and Adair wineries all in close proximity. There are spa’s to visit, numerous shops and art stores, and wonderful restaurants. Please take some time to read the book in the house that I have put together on the areas activities.

****Please do not smoke inside the property, and inquire about additional cleaning fee if you come with your animals!

About Shawn Pressley

I am originally from Toronto Canada , but have lived in the States since '99.

My job had me living out of a suitcase for many years before I could finally call Manhattan my home, where after many years of living in the crazy city, I found myself some green space!

Shawn Pressley purchased this house in 2000

Why Shawn Pressley chose Hudson Valley

I happened to have been invited up to New Paltz for the weekend and it became love at first sight. The area has so much to offer, from hiking , to kayaking, horse back riding , sky diving , culinary delights with many quality restaurants opening up around town, Mohonk Mountain House & Spa, or simply, the easy drive out of the city for some peace, fresh air and tranquility.

The area itself captured my heart with the Catskill mountains as a backdrop, and the every changing Wallkill river at it's base.

I loved living here, I loved having my horses in the back yard and the dogs running around the property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

thanks. things have been just perfect. we took some walks and did some other things. It was a good chance for my wife to be with her two boys and their families. the house was perfect and everything was first class. we used a lot of firewood and enjoyed it. I was up here a lot many years ago but only on day trips to hike or x-country ski, never just to relax. thanks again for everything and happy new year to you.

Best. Weekend. EVER.

  • 5 of 5

I rented the house for a girls only weekend, and couldn't have picked a better place. We were looking for a relaxed, low key weekend and that is exactly what we got. The house was as pictured and absolutely amazing. Clean, spacious, super comfortable beds, and lots of character. It was also in close proximity to everything we wanted to do (New Paltz, hiking, wineries, etc). We spent the weekend kayaking, playing board games, and grilling outside. We also hiked at Sam's Point, picnicked at a few local wineries, and ate a LOT of delicious food. Shawn made everything super easy, especially me as the designated trip planner. We are already planning another reunion this fall because we had such a great time. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Home Away From Home....

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at Shawn's home. We have now stayed there in the Fall, Winter and this time Spring. Each season brings its own unique display of beauty at this home and the property. We love walking down to the river's edge and watching the sunrise and sunsets. We got lucky with the weather and we were able to sit outside on the deck and relax. The house is beautiful and immaculate. Shawn is quick to respond if you have a question and we know we will be back again. We highly recommend this beautiful home in a fantastic area of Ulster County. It is close enough to everything....hiking, dining, shopping. And yet when you are at the house you feel you are alone in your private world. The house has a lot of land and privacy. Thanks again Shawn for providing this wonderful place to escape to.

A great home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great family time in this house and we highly recommend it.

The owner welcomed us with a very good bottle of wine, that we enjoyed while sitting around the fireplace, watching snowflakes falling down.

The cleanliness of the house was impeccable.

Being a 7-people family, we used the kitchen a lot, and we all really appreciated how functional it was.

The location was great, between New Paltz and Gardiner, at the heart of the Shawangunk Vineyard Trail.

Country home on the river,

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our family during our stay. The house has great sun light and had accommodations for 8 adults with 3 king beds and 1 double bed. We enjoyed the home and the surrounding area. We enjoyed our stay enough to consider a stay in the summer to enjoy the river and hiking. We did complete the hike around the lake and it was spectacular. The location is great for hiking and historical tours. The town of Paltz has numerous has a wide variety of foods available.
