Published in National Geographic as one of their top 50 adventure towns to visit, New Paltz is a great place for exploring. Mohonk preserve and Minnewaska State part offer 25,000 acres of hiking, biking, horsebackriding, and of course world-renowned rock climbing “the Gunks.” There are numerous farm stands and apple orchards to visit where they frequently have ‘pick your own’ options for a playful afternoon. The Hudson Valley wine trail also includes Robibero (1/2 mile away), Whitecliff, and Adair wineries all in close proximity. There are spa’s to visit, numerous shops and art stores, and wonderful restaurants. Please take some time to read the book in the house that I have put together on the areas activities.
****Please do not smoke inside the property, and inquire about additional cleaning fee if you come with your animals!

I am originally from Toronto Canada , but have lived in the States since '99.
My job had me living out of a suitcase for many years before I could finally call Manhattan my home, where after many years of living in the crazy city, I found myself some green space!
Shawn Pressley purchased this house in 2000
I happened to have been invited up to New Paltz for the weekend and it became love at first sight. The area has so much to offer, from hiking , to kayaking, horse back riding , sky diving , culinary delights with many quality restaurants opening up around town, Mohonk Mountain House & Spa, or simply, the easy drive out of the city for some peace, fresh air and tranquility.
The area itself captured my heart with the Catskill mountains as a backdrop, and the every changing Wallkill river at it's base.
I loved living here, I loved having my horses in the back yard and the dogs running around the property.
thanks. things have been just perfect. we took some walks and did some other things. It was a good chance for my wife to be with her two boys and their families. the house was perfect and everything was first class. we used a lot of firewood and enjoyed it. I was up here a lot many years ago but only on day trips to hike or x-country ski, never just to relax. thanks again for everything and happy new year to you.
Nice place in a great location. Wish we could've stayed longer!
It was a fantastic week long stay, the house was perfect for our family of four. The home was clean and orderly. The beds were super comfy and the linens and towels were soft and abundant. The location was perfect for trips into New Paltz, Rosendale and Minnewaska State Park. Swimming at Split Rock was magical (and cold). The kitchen made cooking a pleasure! The land surrounding the home was serene and well cared for. We were sad to leave and hope to return next year. Thank you Shawn for sharing this special home.
My family truly enjoyed our time at Shawn's property. It was a last minute trip due to my busy work schedule and was booked very late in the evening the day prior to when we wanted to arrive. Shawn was outstanding confirming our stay, even with the short notice, then on top of that sending us information that would help us during our stay. He directed us to great options for dining along with activities he recommended. The house and property was everything we hoped for and more. I have a wife and four daughters ranging from toddler to adults and they loved everything about the house and property. Even with the weather unfortunately not cooperating with everything the house had to offer it made it very comfortable for all of us while we waited for storms to pass and once they did the grounds were absolutely beautiful. Are only regret is that we didn't have more time, but will definitely be returning again for another trip!!!
We were greeted with a bottle of wine and a view of open green space. The house was comfortable with good amenities - towels, linens, internet, laundry, etc. We were there for a family reunion and there were enough beds for everyone. The only problem for our group was the open loft bedroom. Obviously it's not really a fault since I was well aware when booking, but one should be aware that you will be able to hear everyone else if you are occupying that bedroom and may not be the best if you are a light sleeper. All in all, it was a nice experience and I wish we had more time to take advantage of the kayaks provided as well.
Lovely house with lots of room, well equipped kitchen and lots of outdoor acreage. Much what we expected!
