This recently remodeled 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on the 2nd story level features a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops. All the kitchen appliances and utensils you need for a relaxing vacation including: blender, coffeemaker, toaster oven and full-size oven, 5-burner gas stove and a variety of pots and pans. The kitchen also has a bar-height counter and stools in addition to the dining area table with amazing views of the beach. Watch the sunset as you dine.
The master bedroom features a queen-sized bed, vaulted ceiling, and access to an outdoor patio, unique custom bath with tropical tiling, oversized tub and custom shower.
The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms both feature tropical décor and queen and full-sized beds, respectively.
This house also includes a private tropical patio area as well as a balcony off of the entryway and master bedroom. There is a washer and dryer in the unit. 2 off-street parking spots provided – a premium for being so close to the beach
For entertainment and business (if you choose to do any) this house features an HDTV along with wireless internet access.
Nice quiet OB location, yet close to everything San Diego has to offer. With only a few steps to the beach you can’t beat this location – perfect for surfing, kayaking, body boarding – or just relaxing on the beach. You can even watch the surfer’s and beach action right from the dining room table - you may even see dolphins playing in the surf. With views from living room, dining room and kitchen you will never feel far from the beach.
This house is an easy walk (just a few blocks) to the famous OB pier (the longest concrete pier on the west coast) and the main business district of Ocean Beach – Newport Avenue. On Newport you will find restaurants (ask about our favorites), antique stores, coffee houses, bars, bike and surf shops. On Wednesday evenings Newport Avenue features a Farmer’s Market where you can find local fruits, vegetables and flowers, street performances and food vendors.

My wife and I bought this property when we were in our early 30's. We have used it as our primary residence and as a rental for over 40 years. We completed a major remodel in 2007 and since then have continued to make additional improvements each year. We now live here for about 4-5 months in the winter and then in a small town northwest of Tahoe the rest of the year. We love our OB home as do our kids who love spending time with us at the beach. Great California beach community!!!

We have owned many homes in Ocean Beach over the last 35+ years. They have all had their own unique qualities but in the end we chose this unit as our favorite because of a combination of view, closeness to the beach and location.
Great beachfront location with great views. 2 off-street parking spots. Private patio and balcony.
The house is impressive. Very comfortable 3 bedroom 2 bath with everything the description entails. Communication with Jim was incredibly easy. On the beach, walk to shops, restaurants, 5 breweries, the pier, and more. Please know that most beach houses do not have, nor need AC because of location. It does get hot inside in July until the sun goes down but there were plenty of fans in the house to not let that get in the way of loving this place. We will be back!
We truly enjoyed the place, and the location, very much. There was only one thing that people need to be aware of, and that is the noise from the planes that fly over on a regular basis from the San Diego Airport.
We loved your home. It was a perfect fit for our family (our first choice in Ocean Beach (OB) in the future). We visit San Diego annually and have done so for the last 28 years. We typically stay at a hotel in OB. This home was quite a step up. It is located very close to the beach. The ocean views from the dining area are stunning. The view includes the OB pier. The property is "as described" in the listing. The property is clean and well maintained. We loved Susie's mosaic work. Jim and Susie were easy to work with. This was the first time I used VRBO. Jim took the time to answer any questions I had and walked me through the VRBO process. Jim responded to my e-mails in a timely manner. Thank you (Jim & Susie) for letting us stay at your home. My daughters both told me that this was their favorite vacation in OB. My wife and I feel the same way. Thanks again.
The pictures don't do this place justice. As soon as we walked in my wife told me that I outdid myself again and that the place and view were beautiful. We spent the week at the beach to celebrate my oldest graduating from college and this was a perfect location to do it. Walking distance to everything and steps from the beach. We bought firewood from the mart a block away and had a wonderful bonfire one night in the fire pits directly in front of the house on the beach. Working with Jim was a breeze and he provided a wealth of information about the place and was quick to answer any and all questions that we had. It had been 3 years since we had last been to Ocean Beach and I must say that the community is making vast improvements on making the place a family friendly beach location.
This is a beautiful property and a very nice vacation rental. Most important Jim is a great individual to deal with. He does what he says he is going to do, and has realistic expectations.
Arrived in the middle of a heat wave not knowing what to expect. I attended university in San Diego 30 years ago so I was familiar with the City but never experienced Ocean Beach. I was immediately won over by it's bohemian charm, friendly people and Jim Steinbarth's residence overlooking the OB pier and the only So Cal beach with grass, BBQ's, Fire Pits and all within two blocks of the main drag. I love the Steinbarth house. It was modern, clean, quiet and everything worked. I can't wait to get back there!
Right on the beach and near a grassy park. Easy bike ride or drive to Sea World. Close to San Diego Zoo and Downtown / Gas Lamp District.
