|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
Modern and comfortable home with panoramic and stunning beach and ocean views, located just across a small road from the beach and an inviting fishing pier, in the picturesque town of Rodanthe on Hatteras Island on North Carolina's Outer Banks.
This home has all the amenities one would look forward to in a desirable, upscale vacation home, such as expansive decks to take in the ocean view from, nine foot ceilings, a pool and hot tub, a recreation room with an 8 foot pool table and card table, 8 flat screen TVs, cement fiberboard siding, a jetted jacuzzi, wainscoting, tile and hardwood, a fireplace, and great furnishings throughout, including upscale Polywood furniture on the decks.
The best part however is the panoramic ocean and beach views from every level. This home has better oceanviews than many oceanfront homes. Even the rear deck has great oceanviews. The sound views are also very fine, and the beach is just steps away. This is the vacation home you have been looking for.
We vacationed there in 2012 and were very impressed with the house.
The first level has a large tiled recreation room as well as a large bedroom and bath. The second level has three bedroom suites, one of which has a jetted tub, and another has a walk in shower for easy access, as well as a large deck. The top level has a very large great room with built-ins, a large flat screen TV and hardwood flooring, as well as a king master suite, a hall bathroom a kitchen and a dining room area. Naturally the view from the third level deck are amazing.
I live in Maine with my wife, four children and pets. We love going on family vacations to the Outer Banks.
Morry El Badry purchased this house in 2012
This is the kind of property renters are looking for. It is essentially on the beach, modern and in great shape.
The fishing pier, beach and ocean are all right there.
We had a wonderful family time. All 4 generations. The house was beautiful, clean, and perfect. The décor was comforting, relaxing and not overwhelming. I highly recommend this property. The owner was wonderful to deal with.
We had some minor issues that were fixed within 12 hours. A new washer and dryer was installed and the stove is being fixed.. Other than that we had new pans, and plenty of silverware, everything for a large family.
Weather was excellent and fishing was great. Shelling was good, crabbing was good and we had some wonderful waves. A Dollar General right down the street provided us with fast essential shopping and for the rest we drove into Nagshead. This was a wonderful place to stay for the week.
We were there in the off season so not much was open but we found so many other things to do. Sun rises, sunsets, birds, dolphins, turtles, ect.
The only bad thing were the cockroaches, they were huge, but we found them in the house, in a store, in a nice restaurant we were at and on the streets they seem to be everywhere.
Loved the view and location. House was pretty worn inside and could use some TLC- but I guess that's to be expected after summer? Bring your own knives/cutting board/any other kitchen products you will miss. We planned on cooking most meals but the kitchen situation made that tough... Stove top barely worked but I found an electronic skillet that helped... Plenty of space.
Really enjoyed the location of the house. We spent most of our mornings sitting on the third floor deck watching the sun rise. Several safety issues- right side railing on the third floor deck is loose as well as some of the vertical slats, our 2 yr. old grandson was able to put his head through the slats that are loose. There is also a receptacle cover missing in the 2nd floor bedroom that is on the side of the washer & dryer. If safety issues are corrected, would definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful week long stay with all of our adult children and their young families with a total 10 guests. The location is outstanding with easy access to a great beach. The weather was a bit hot and humid, but between the ocean water and the nice cool pool we were more than comfortable. This is a very kid-friendly house in terms of things to do and easy beach access. It was also great to have individual bedrooms and bathrooms for all the couples. The large living space on the third door is the social center of the home with a great view - we spent many hours enjoying our family in this space.
The only downsides to the home were centered on the kitchen. While the space is large and accommodating, the pots and pans were substandard and the cutlery could use an update. You frequently run into this with rental properties that get a lot of use, but at this price point I think property should be better stocked. We also found it very strange that the stove top fan vented directly back into the room instead of up through an outside vent. This caused some excess cooking odors and you can't exactly open the doors during the summer due to the temperatures. Also the two dryers vented into each other (incredibly strange) and one of the dryer vents was totally non functional (we found it on the ground with the mesh all gone).
None of this got in our way of having a good time as there are many, many positives about the property. The house did lend itself to a great time! The pool was fun, we never did use the hot tub :). The location is wonderful.
Would be 5 stars except the hot tub was not functioning properly for half the week, and the cable was out. Also, one of the bedrooms was missing the tv remote and although the maintenance man said he'd bring a new one, he never did. Otherwise, it was perfect. Right on the ocean. Beautiful!
We had a fabulous time on Spring Break with our family. The house was huge and well-equipped. We could've invited another family to join us! Each of our kids had their own room and bathroom (spoiled!), but we spent most of our time on the 3rd floor, playing games, watching movies and basketball, enjoying the view of the beach out of one side of the house and the sound on the other. In fact, I watched the sun rise over the Atlantic every morning and then the sun set over the sound every night! The house is advertised as "semi oceanfront," but it really is right on the water with just a street, but nothing else, in front of it. We sat out on the deck every day and soooo enjoyed the view, the sound of the waves and the smell of the ocean. It was the beginning of the season, so everything was very quiet, which we loved. It was too cold to swim in the ocean and the pool had not been opened for the season yet (we didn't know that), but we did use the hot tub several times. (I appreciated that Shore Details came mid-week to check the chemicals and ensure it was clean!) The house was SUPER clean, and I'm sort of OCD, so that was great. (We brought our sweet dogs, and knowing that the house was dog-friendly, I was a little worried about the cleanliness, but it was immaculate!) There were a couple of little things that needed to be maintained, but we called Shore Details and they sent someone over immediately. Loved the TWO sets of washers/dryers! Beds were comfy.
Unfortunately, because it was the beginning of the season, some of the restaurants nearby were closed, but we had stocked up on groceries (Food Lion in Nags Head or Avon are close and reasonable) so cooked and used the grill on the deck to prepare meals. Kitchen was well-stocked (even had martini glasses!), so we were able to do a lot of cooking. The only real downside about the kitchen was the knives. Since we were doing a lot of cooking, we really needed to be able to slice/dice, and the knives made it difficult. Would've been nice to have even one good knife, but that's being really nitpicky! Otherwise, it had all the necessary pots/pans and utensils. One night, we ordered seafood from Surf's Up in Avon. It was awesome! Highly recommended! We loved visiting the Wright Memorial near Kitty Hawk, and we drove up to Corolla but couldn't drive on the beach because no 4WD.
We've rented houses all over the country - beach, mountains, etc. This is a GREAT rental home.
My home is located across from the beach and diagonally from a large fishing pier in Rodanthe, on Hatteras Island, on North Carolina's Outer Banks.
Nearby points of interest include, Pea Island Reserve, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills.
Should you have a very large group, and/or planning an event such as a wedding, please note I have two other fine homes in Rodanthe, Ocean Blue homeaway #346950, and Clear Skies-surforsound.com #613, as well as one in Salvo-surforsound.com #808, and one in the 4WD area-VRBO.com #184823.
