Comfy, quaint and had everything needed. Location was less than a mile from the playland and stores.
We loved that the beach was walking distance to the cottage. The owners were very friendly and full of information about what was around to do. The cottage was able to have 8 people, we only had 6. It was just right for my family, my sister and her boyfriend.

I'm going on 29 years of staying at this cottage ! My children were 5 and 8 when we started. they now have Family's of there own . They have not missed a year !
It's a place for Family games and Beach fun ! The back yard is private with picnic tables and yard and grass to play games the Beach is almost across the street !
Sheila's is right up front for husbands paper and things I forgot at the grocery store 😂It a mile to down town so we don't here the noise from the rides, but we can walk up and back no parking 🚙Down town 💰 We cross the street on Thur and can see the fireworks.
I love the fact we can take off on trips to Portland or shop or visit the Maine Mall ! Or play board games and read a book ! We are set back from the road for private time with family or take off to the wonderful resteraunts!
This is my very favorite place to invite family up for the day or even overnight if needed 😘The owners Mike and Maria are really so helpful if you need anything 😇!
I hope this helps you it's our hidden jem
DON'T RENT THIS COTTAGE -VERY CLOSE TO RAILROAD
This cottage is literally 50 feet from a very busy railroad track. We were told upon arrival there was a train that comes through a few times a day and that it shouldn't be too disruptive by the homeowner when we arrived. This was a bold face lie!! The train came through every two hours all night long. it was deafeningly loud and shook the whole house. My infant woke terrified every time it went by. It was an absolutely miserable night!!! We packed up and left the very next morning. The fact the cottage in on the rail road tracks should have been disclosed prior to renting!!!!! The homeowner represents this property very poorly!! It is not a good fit for a family. Only one of the 2 bedrooms has a door, there is no air conditioning (even though we were told there was), the living space in extremely small, the furniture is broken down and stained, there is no stove and the microwave is not usable because it is on top of the fringe, the only available parking is in the yard, and last but not least the "private back yard" is not private at all it is shared with the owner who lives next store. AND TO MAKE THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE EVEN WORSE, THE HOMEOWNER ONLY GAVE US A THIRD OF OUR MONEY BACK!! IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS I WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Along with the beautiful beach, and a multitude of family activities a main part of Old Orchard’s character is the train that runs through the center of town and parallel to the coast along East and West Grand Ave. It was always a thrill for our son, and now for our 6 and 3 year old grandsons when the train passes, watching the railcars pass by. In the 25 years that we have owned and rented this cottage, we can honestly say that we have never had a family leave due to the train. Admittedly, if you have an infant that wakes easily, it could pose a problem, but please note that our cottage is no closer to the train (actually a bit further) than the 12 motels lining the west side of East Grand Ave. (a good way to gauge this is to look at the aerial view on a Google map) It’s also worth noting that although the cottage sits beside our own house, the back yard is completely dedicated to our renters and parking is in a seperate area from that yard. Air conditioning has never been listed as an amenity on our Homeaway property description. Due to the cool ocean breeze and significant drop in temperature most every night we’ve never felt it necessary to provide more than fans. That said, if temperatures are especially hot or humid to the point of discomfort, we will absolutely install a window unit on request. There is not a stove available in the cottage, as the description in Homeaway states, but there is a large gas grill with a side burner outside and four electric burner units in the cottage for cooking. There is also a microwave oven atop the refrigerator, which if it is too high for you to reach, we’ll be more than happy to place it in a convenient location . The common room furniture is admittedly a bit older, like so many summer cottages, but we are committed to updating that in short order. The connecting bedrooms are spacious and have never presented a problem with previous renters. We truly want our renters to enjoy their stay in Old Orchard as much as we do, and will always work to ensure that’s the case. As testament to this, we have a core group of families that have been literally renting this cottage every year for over 20 years! We’ve made many updates to the property over those years and will continue to do so, and we truly value your feedback to help guide those decisions. Sincerely, the Russo family.
Literally a 3 minute walk to the most beautiful and pristine portion of Old Orchard Beach - a seven mile long, meticulously maintained, white-sand beach, perfect for children (and adults) of all ages!
One mile walk to the pier, where you'll find pizza, fried dough, ice cream, and the best 'Pier Fries' you'll ever have (gotta eat them with salt and vinegar!). Not to mention arcades, Palace Playland amusements, and a nightlife you won't soon forget!
Conveniently located directly behind Sheila's Country Store, which serves the best sandwiches in town, and offers everything from milk and eggs to ice cold beer. Private back yard and gas grill are also provided, perfect for evening cookouts and simply relaxing.
Aquaboggan Water Park, Fun Town USA, and multiple mini-golf courses are all close by. And if the clouds are too thick for a day outdoors (God forbid!), Portland's Old Port, Freeport and Kittery outlets, the Maine Mall, and Kennebunkport are all a short drive away. This truly is Vacationland!!
