Great Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week and loved the easy boat access. The canal was a great scenic ride and you are dead center of the river when you come out. Hang a right and your fishing and hang a left and your in the bay. The house had everything that we needed. A pool, kitchen, bed, bath and GREAT A/C. Can't wait to go back.

Don't stay here

  • 1 of 5

This house was terrible the house looked like it was falling apart with cracks and falling paint in the porch at the back there are no lights so you cannot sit out at night the room that runs across the back was just a room built of grey blocks and just a dirty broken table and chairs no paint floor cover with the aircon in wall and a large black stain all down wall from it the kitchen and bedrooms had cockroaches all over the place what ever you opened or used in the kitchen the cockroaches were there we paid for two weeks but left early as we couldn't stand been there any longer we have stayed all over Florida and have never stayed any where as bad would not recommend

OK place to stay but needs TLC

  • 3 of 5

As previous post state the house is OK and will do when the really nicer homes are not available. The biggest issue is it needs to be getting some much needed TLC. While the inside is clean and well stocked, it has bug issues and we were killing one or two cockroaches each day. Living in Florida you can expect some bugs but they should be dying from preventative bug spray and not walking along being happy and carefree. The two bedroom TVs cable box would not work and displayed a message on the TV screen "unauthorized cable box". The house did have nice cold air. As a side note - In the not too distant future the house will require some work as the vines are taking over the right side of the house and roof. The canal was nice and deep and even the 25 minute idle ride out the the river was OK as it was scenic, and the floating dock was a plus as you did not have to worry about the tides and how your boat is tied up. It would have been real nice to have had a fish cleaning area/table as there is nothing to work on but the convenience of having a water hose to rinse the boat and gear was nice. The pool was refreshing but the chemistry was way off as it burned your eyes. Overall great location to head out to the Gulf from and the scalloping was excellent.

Owner's Response: So go rent the "really nicer (more expensive) home" LOL I'll be sure to give your report to Shaun my awesome pool caretaker, and 'awww' no comment for my weekly lawn caretaker Mike? Brighthouse would have looked after your tv issues immediately, if you had called and let us know. And, stop picking on my poor little 'happy/carefree' palmetto bugs... :( Don't leave the doors open...., take out your garbage... shower, etc. Its funny, everyone i know LOVES this place. Quiet neighbourhood, houses only on one side of the street, dead end street, near mall, close to everything, awesome inground private! pool... (heated if you want) etc. If you need a fish table, go get a portable one from kmart for $10, and there is lots of water in the canal or a hose right near the dock. Nobody else wants stinky fish guts on the dock anyways :)) keep it on your boat....

Great place for scalloping

  • 5 of 5

The house is nice, nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable and well stocked. We really enjoyed being able to keep the boat at the house and go for a dip in the pool in the afternoon. Looking forward to coming back next year!

Owner's Response: We hope you do! Thanks for looking after our home. We can't do too fancy, as the squatters cost us $10k last year... :( So we try to give the good families as much as we can.

Florida at its finest

  • 5 of 5

awesome place to stay. We will definitely be back. Absolutely great for children and good for entertaining we enjoyed fishing kayaking swimming the privacy was great. We watched Manatee in the canal. Management is very attentive and lives close by to address any concerns we may have had and to keep property maintained. The house was clean and completely furnished with everything we needed.
