Tahoma House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Enjoy year-round sports and activities at our charming West Shore cabin at beautiful Lake Tahoe, California. Perfect for a weekend getaway or a longer stay, the cabin is just a short 5 minute drive to Homewood Ski Resort; 20 minutes to Alpine Meadows Ski Resort; and, 25 minutes to world-famous Squaw Valley, site of the 1968 Winter Olympics. A 15-minute drive takes you to Tahoe City where you will find wonderful shopping and diverse dining as well as many recreational opportunities, including rafting down the Truckee River. Further up the road is Stateline where California meets Nevada. Casinos can be found, including the Cal-Neva, a hang-out for the Rat Pack in the 50s and 60s. If you head in the opposite direction from the cabin you will reach the South Shore where casino resort hotels abound with nightlife and fine dining as well as Heavenly Valley Ski Resort.

Just 3 blocks to the lake, our neighborhood is comprised of single family homes with approximately 40% occupied by year-round residents and 60% by vacation homes. Although our cabin is on a double corner lot, the neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. One of our favorite activities is dining on the large deck, whether it's breakfast on a warm sunny morning or barbecuing in the evening with cocktails and appetizers.

PLEASE NOTE: Rates: Standard $160 per night (two night minimum); Holiday $180 per night (includes President's Weekend, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years - all three night minimum).

About Terry Keenan

We are a married couple, Terry and Pat, who live in Mill Valley, CA. We've both in our mid-60s, and have 3 cats. We have both recently retired.

We have done a number of exchanges and, in addition to rentals, would be interested in doing an exchange in Hawaii, Spain, France, the Caribbean, or The Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark, but are open to all suggestions.

Terry Keenan purchased this house in 1982

Why Terry Keenan chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

There's only one Lake Tahoe, which provides year-round recreational fun and activities for the entire family. It's just a 4-hour drive from the San Francisco Bay Area, but also within a 45-minute drive from the Truckee Airport. The historic town of Truckee offers unique shopping and browsing as well as unique dining experiences. The cabin has proven to be a perfect getaway, especially from the pressure of living in the San Francisco Bay Area, even if only for a two-night weekend.

What makes this house unique

The cabin has been lovingly decorated to reflect a mountain experience with comfortable living and dining areas as well as bedrooms and bath. Charming personal touches abound throughout, making this a perfect getaway with an 'at home' feel.

Very friendly couple to communicate with. Far enough from most humans to enjoy a quiet weekend!

Some fun games on the property, movies to watch at night, books to read, lots of blankets and pillows provided (don't forget TWO sets of Queen sheets and pillow cases). If you don't like bright light, you'll love the subdued light in this cabin. Make sure to bring your mountain bikes! You're about 3 miles from the Rubicon Trail. Yep, I climbed it for a while. Lake Tahoe is beautiful this time of year. Enjoy!

Quiet and Cozy. Warm and Inviting.

This amazing little cottage home in Tahoma was the perfect venue for the wedding I attended in the 2nd week of September at Sugar Pine Point State park. It's about 15 minutes south of Tahoe City and only minutes from Sugar Pine Point state park. Anything on the west side of Lake Tahoe was easily accessible. The home itself was quaint and comfortable. Guests are required to bring their own sheets for the 2 queen-size beds, which may seem like an inconvenience, however, it makes sense, given the fact that the owners are trying to keep their cleaning costs to a minimum so they can provide guests with a better rate. The cabin utilizes several antique style lamps as the source of light within the home, so if you're into the dim-lit cozy feel of a quiet and warm cabin, this is a great place! The heat for the home works really well, and once you turn on the heater, the place warms up quickly and effectively. The heat emanates from the small hallway near the bedrooms, so the bedrooms get nice and toasty, as the heat then fills up the living room. The doors and shutters seem to be the work and craftsmanship of the original architecture that makes this cottage style home share some elements of what you'd find in a cabin: there aren't weather strips or seals that prevent cold air from seeping into the home, but remember - the heating in the house works amazingly! The beds are comfortable and we slept great. The laundry "room" is really just part of one of the bedrooms, separated by a curtain, So if you have any laundry that needs to be done, just make sure the person sleeping in that bedroom doesn't mind the hum of the dryer. The bathroom was well stocked with soaps and lotions, and as with the overall ambiance of the home, the lighting was soft and cozy. I had a tremendous stay at this location and I would recommend it for anyone who wants to get away and feel like they have their own little home during their travels. (We didn't use the kitchen to cook at all, so I can't comment on the amenities of pots/pans, dishes, etc, but the kitchen looked ready for any occasion!). The owners of the property gave us a list of local restaurants and activities to consider, which was very helpful. We ate brunch one morning at the Fire Sign Cafe. It was a great meal and the customer service was amazing! The wifi at the cottage worked perfectly and allowed me to get some online work done with no issues at all.

Great cabin close to the lake!

We loved our west shore cabin. The location was fantastic (walking distance to coffee, the market and best of all, the LAKE), the price was right and the cabin was perfect. We used the gas fireplace each night and even enjoyed a couple rounds of badminton. We did some grocery shopping prior to arrival and cooked a few meals in the well stocked kitchen. The cabin is a quick drive down to Emerald Bay, which I think is the most beautiful part of Lake Tahoe. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Very comfortable with a small cozy cabin feel.

The home was perfect and we loved our stay. Of course, we were there to ski and the it snowed, so our time was perfect.

If you are traveling with 4 people, it is the perfect home. There could be more light as it was quite dim, even turning on the lights. The wood adds a great mountain feel, but it also makes the home a little dark.
