This apartment is a great place to stay. It is thoughfully laid out and each piece in the studio was useful. The weather was cold and rainy so it was a relief to see that there was heat and umbrellas in the apartment for use. Because it is in the 11th arrondisement, it is outside of the typical touristy area and this allows you to experience Paris more like a local. There are lots of places to eat in the area, several bakeries, and places to sit and have a leisurely verre de vin. There are several metro and buses lines within walking distance. Once you know the metro, you can go all over with ease. Sébastien was most kind, always prompt in his responses, and even checked in while we were there to see if things were okay. He was flexible with check in and out times as well.
Late but thanks a lot.I appreciate . Hope you will have opportunity to come another time . With my best regards . Christiane M.
It was a marvelous place!
I chose a place close to the sights that I wanted to visit. I loved the fact that the metro was just a quick walk away.
The neighborhood was great and the people in the area were helpful.
We ate in a small restaurant near where we stayed, it was wonderful!
Sebastian was helpful, he had information typed up about places to eat, places to visit and local grocery stores and markets. It was great to be able to refer back to the information when needed.
I have stayed in an apartment before while staying in Paris, this was so much better! It was clean, and he thought of everything! I would go back to stay there again.
Decent apartment in a great location
My husband and I stayed here for a week in Apr 2015. We were greeted by Sebastien, who let us drop off our bags early while he cleaned the apartment. He was welcoming and told us about various places around the area. The apartment itself faces a very quiet and peaceful courtyard. There was some construction nearby, which was a bit loud at 8:00 am, but a minor inconvenience.
The area is perfect with plenty of affordable restaurants, bakeries, markets, etc. Whatever you need is only a 5 minute walk away. We loved that it wasn't overly touristy, as we felt like we got a true feel for Paris, and things were definitely cheaper than by the tourist areas. There are several Metro stops within a 10 minute walk, and the #69 bus (located at the Voltaire Street intersection) is a great option to get a tour of the city (goes to Bastille, Marais, the Louvre, and ends at the Eiffel Tower). We took this bus a few times to avoid multiple Metro transfers!
We did not use the appliances in the kitchen, so cannot comment on these. However, we did appreciate the washing machine, which worked perfectly fine. Also enjoyed having a laptop available for our stay. Had no issues with the functioning of appliances, plumbing, etc.
Only complaint is that the apartment could use a thorough cleaning. Although cleaned prior to our stay, the bathtub had a layer of grime built up (needs a good scrub). The furniture and flooring also seemed to be somewhat worn, and could use a bit of an upgrade.
Overall enjoyed our stay in Paris, and were quite happy with this apartment.
IT HAS BEEN RENOVATED !
Hello Olivia, Sorry for the previous floor, yes it was too worn, it has been renovated now, there is now an all new wooden floor. The construction in the street are finished now, the area is as quiet as before. Sorry for the bathtub, it was some calcium, the water of Paris is very hart, it has been removed now. Just to inform our next guests, the apartment is completely cleaned after each stay, and particularly regarding the floor, the wc, sink, bath, kitchen, dust everywhere. On contrary to other apartments all bedding linen (sheets, duvet covers, …) are well cleaned and good ironed, kept cellophane-wrapped, to keep them in good state until it arrives on the bed, it’s not kept any way like you can find in many apartments in this range of price.
Feel free to contact me a next time !
My husband and I stayed in this apartment for six nights towards the end of October. It was absolutely perfect for us, and exactly as described. The size is extremely spacious, especially the bathroom, which includes a bathtub and the washing machine. Both the bed and couch are very comfortable. Being on a private little alley made us feel extremely secure. We loved opening the huge floor to ceiling windows any time we were just relaxing in the apartment.
The neighborhood is wonderful! There are so many shops, restaurants and bars located right around the apartment. We were sad we couldn't try them all! It is also just around the corner from Voltaire metro stop, which was very convenient for getting around the city.
Sebastien was so helpful and easy to deal with. All of my emails were responded to almost immediately, which gave us great peace of mind before we even left for Paris.
The only things I would take into consideration before renting the apartment are:
1) The floor is this weird woven matting material. It's not the comfiest on bare feet after walking around all day.
2) This neighborhood isn't very touristy, which is great! But that does mean that you'll come across more shop owners who don't speak English than you will in the center of the city. So if you don't speak any French at all this might not be the best fit for you.
Overall, this apartment was everything we could have wanted, and I would highly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a great value in a very cool neighborhood.
IT HAS BEEN RENOVATED !
Hello Carrie, the previous floor was made out of sea grass, it has been renovated now, there is now an all new wooden floor. Yes the advantage in this area is to enjoy real Parisian good addresses, and also the possibility to be quickly in the very center, at walking distance, or with the metro which is direct.
See you soon
Good location and value for money
We were on holidays for one week in Paris with my family. The appartment was perfect for us. The location is ideal: restaurants are only a couple of minutes walk. We had the choice of 3 metro stations: voltaire is only 200 metres away and Bastille about 600 metres. The appartment itself is well equiped, comfortable in a quiet location.
Convenient location, cute apartment.
We stayed here for just over a week and got to enjoy so much of the local area in addition to Paris' tourist sites. The local boulangeries, patisseries and restaurants are excellent. Definitely go to Le Baron Rouge, if you like wine, where they fill up 1L bottles for you from giant wooden casks.
The apartment is just a block away from Voltaire metro station which runs direct to Galleries Lafayette and connects easily to everything else in the city by metro. The apartment windows let in lots of natural light to enjoy your morning coffee/tea and pastry.
The apartment came with everything we needed, wifi (and computer), dishes, linen, towels, soap, and a dishwasher and a clothes washing machine.
Sébastien is extremely helpful and very friendly. His English is excellent. There is a booklet for people staying here outlining local restaurants, shops, wine bars, etc. Sébastien is very responsive if you have any questions while staying, even for new restaurant recommendations.
Close to the old city, the 'Marais' area is at 10 minutes on foot. Safe place, the City Hall is at 100 meters. The 11th arrondissement of Paris is a typical area in Paris and is a perfect place to discover local life, to remain out of the tourist zone, but close to the center and the old city. Many artists and writers like this area. Knonwn as a bobo area (abbreviation for bourgeois-bohème) in reference to their way of life, their open mind, cultural background and interest for artistic activities. Metro station 'Voltaire' is at 100 meters. Many little restaurants and fast-foods around. Unexpensive supermarkets at 100 meters. Many bars and shops in the animated 'Rue de la Roquette' street, from the apartment until Bastille Square and the Marais area.
