About Betsy Longstreth
My husband and I live in Philadelphia, PA. We have 3 children and 9 grandchildren. Our whole family loves the outdoors, so we gather here often and enjoy all that Stowe and this wonderful house provide.
Betsy Longstreth purchased this Farmhouse in 2001
Why Betsy Longstreth chose Stowe
My brother who lives in Stowe picked this house out for us. He called me telling me he had found 'my house.' We had not been considering buying a second home - however, he knew he had me with the rural, cozy charm of the farmhouse with its perfect location. He knew another good thing. Owning his own construction company, he was responsible for all of the recent renovations and additions..... so I know the work was done well.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The house is an iconic part of Stowe - as you drive along Luce Hill Road and look across the fields--the house, the surrounding farm and the mountains and ski slopes in the background form a classic Vermont scene. The charm of the old and new wide-planked floors, the fireplace, the light-filled windows that look out to incredible views, and the simple yet comfortable country style living creates wonderful times for families and friends to enjoy. With its central location, all can head out in different directions whether to the bike path, the mountains, the spa, or town--all just minutes away.

Would love to stay again
I can see why this place gets consistent 5 stars. It's definitely the nicest VRBO I've stayed in, with the open kitchen facing the fireplace as the real highlight. Betsy was responsive and helpful, and the place itself was clean and exactly as promised. We'd absolutely stay here again.
One other cool thing, the house is very close (less than 10 min walk) to the Stowe Recreation path, which was a nice treat since you can go from one end of Stowe to the other on foot or by bike.
Our large family group of 8 adults had a wonderful week at the farmhouse. The home was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Highlights of the home were the amazing front porch, cozy fires in the living room and cooking dinners in the kitchen.
While we were there we had an issue with a bathroom sink not draining correctly and it was fixed the next day.
It was a wonderful home away from home for us!
Our stay in Stowe was amazing. The house was beautiful with lots of thoughtful details and breathtaking views. I’m going to miss my morning coffee on the front porch. The location was very convenient to everything. We looked forward to coming home at the end of the day to relax in the hot tub and sit by the fire pit. Despite the occasional cow smell from the farm down the street, I would return without hesitation!
A perfect getaway!
This house is absolutely breathtaking. It’s the perfect getaway and retreat. Betsy was great and very tentative to our needs and questions. Everything was so clean and well maintained. Would totally recommend to everyone and anyone!!!
Thanks so very much Steve for your most positive review and appreciation of the house and your visit. We loved having you. Hope you will come back any time!!!
Stowe Farm house
Farm house was perfect for our gathering...plenty of space for together time as well as quiet alone time. Kitchen was great for dinner last
Thanks Tami. It was great to have you! So glad it worked so well for your group. All the best, Betsy
Wonderful owner, great views
This property is lovely, especially for the price. The scenery is unreal - so beautiful! Wake up to mist on the mountains and beautiful views. It's very centrally located - so easy to get to town but it still feels like you are away from the busyness of Stowe in summer.
Something I didn't know before we got there is that the house consists of an older original home (built in 1854! amazing history) and a newer addition. The older part of the home feels (and smells) a bit "older" - the carpet in one room and furniture is a little old - floors are slanted and the master bedroom upstairs has low ceilings and not much of a "master" bath - but as long as you understand that it's part of the history and charm of the place it's not a big deal. Also, there is no central air - for us this was a non-issue because the weather was not hot (Stowe usually isn't in summer).
That said, the newer addition: kitchen, family room and two newer bedrooms, are so nicely done. We've never stayed anywhere with such a well-appointed kitchen!
There were a few small glitches during our stay (wifi not working, new washing machine needed), which were beyond anyone's control but responded to so quickly it was really impressive. Betsy is wonderful and clearly really cares about creating a great experience. The people on her team who came to the house to help were also fabulous.
The only thing I wish I'd known that impacted the visit was there is a cow farm down the road. The first two days we were there the smell was consistently very bad - perhaps they had just fertilized the fields, which I heard only happens twice a year. After those initial days there were times there was no smell at all, and other times it was bad (depending on which way the wind was blowing). (*This is the ONLY reason I gave three stars for location). The fact that no one else has mentioned this in their reviews makes me think we may just have been unlucky.
Again, for the price and location and how fabulous Betsy is, this place is wonderful!
A great team starts with a great renter communicating any glitches so we can address them. It was great to have you Annie.
