Raleigh is situated midway between beautiful North Carolina mountains and spectacular beaches Drive 2 hours west to see mountains or 2 hours east to visit beach and the antebellum city of Wilmington - is still an active port city but most popular attraction is the battleship North Carolina moored across the river from the downtown Cotton Exchange shopping area. Has old South feel. Good restaurants on the water too.
Other: visit well regarded NC Zoo or Aquariums....or take a day trip to 'Straw Valley' home to several of North Carolina's renowned potters & their galleries.
NC State Campus is about 15 minutes from the property. It is the flagship campus for engineering ,textiles and design of UNC system - worth a visit. Just a short drive to Duke. The Duke Chapel, a classic Westminster style, boasts many 'claims to fame' Stained glass windows of deep colors - all the blue glass purchased from Blenko Glass & anyone who knows glass, knows Blenko. Don't miss the Sarah P. Duke Gardens that are maintained by many expert botanists so that each season the plantings provide a beautiful display of the flowers of that particular season. UNC is located in Chapel hill and is home of a terrific basketball team. You can visit the botanical gardens or the Morehead Planetarium for a fun filled adventure. Top of the hill distillery is also located in Chapel Hill and you can sip a few local brews!
This property is only about a mile and a half from a city park where tennis courts are available and the Neuse River trails are within walking distance. Neighborhood is fantastic for an early morning job or after dinner walk.
As stated earlier, there is sooooo much available in this area that listing everything here is a bit difficult but information will be made available at the house for your review and enjoyment. The seasonal changes are beautiful.

A wonderful stay
We had great weather to enjoy the outdoors and this place was perfect to do that. The boys got to fish in the pond and we played badminton. There are several places to sit outdoors on covered and uncovered decks. The sunroom was ideal to spend quiet time or to entertain visiting family. There is a finished basement where the children could play games and escape the adult conversations. The king sized beds were a nice bonus. Kitchen is well stocked and usable. Our family really enjoyed our stay at this most pleasant home.
David, It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay!! And such great guests!! We hope you return soon!!
We loved it
Great place, we all enjoyed it.
Perfect place for our golf trip!!!
We had 16 guys on a golf trip and the house was absolutely perfect. Plenty of room for our group to hang out and discuss our rounds from the day. The owner was super nice. We had no problems checking in and checking out was a breeze. I received my $500 damage deposit the following day.
Beautiful, quiet getaway
We used this rental as a gathering for family. The property is beautiful and spacious. Plenty of room to gather as well as plenty of space for privacy, and that sun room...such a peaceful area of the house, with a great view of the lake! The most beautiful of memories were made here this weekend!
Thank you for your kind words. Please hurry back.
A beautiful home away from home! Our family enjoyed our stay tremendously! Can I give 10 stars!?!
My daughter and her Fiance are planning to marry in 2018, and I live out of state. We were looking for a home away from home to plan a parents weekend with the happy couple. This also would be our first Home Away experience.
Norma and Kelli, responded quickly to any questions we had in advance of our arrival, and upon our arrival we were well informed. We arrived in the middle of an unexpected snow/ice storm, uncommon for Raleigh-intact the Governor proclaimed a State-of-emergency for North Carolina. We were delighted to find the driveway and entry to the home clear and the home was warm and cozy. The home itself was clean and comfortable and we settled in quickly. House instructions were clear and concise. The homeowners were available to answer any questions, but not intrusive. We planned a dinner on Saturday and Brunch on Sunday, inviting a few additional family members. The home was quite spacious. I was pleasantly surprised - that as advertised, the home really did have everything we needed! What I loved most about the location, was that Norma & Carroll's home is nestled on a beautiful quiet tree-lined street, amidst a sprawling landscape and we forgot that neighbors were to the right and left of us. Yet, downtown Raleigh and all stores were within 5 to 15 minutes away! The property inside and out was more beautiful than even the gorgeous pictures indicate.
I highly recommend this property. We have found what we know, will be one of our favorite homes for short or long stays whenever we visit the area. Thank you Norma, Carroll and Kelli for a wonderful experience. You helped our families spend a terrific weekend together in anticipation of the upcoming nuptials! We hardly wanted to leave!
As a foot note, we received 100% of our damage deposit promptly.
Catherine, I absolutely enjoyed you and your family. You all were amazing guests and I felt so at home with all of you! Your patience and understanding in regards to the "Big NC snow storm" was astounding. I truly enjoyed meeting you all.. And I'm so excited you have you folks back in May for your daughters wedding. If I could rate you as guests I'd give 10 stars!! Thank you so very much for your kind words and I'm so very glad you found us!
Very respectful, communicative and left the home exceptionally clean! Thank you!!
Great Place for a Family Gathering
We hosted a large family gathering for Christmas and the house had a lot of space for us to sleep, gather, and catch up. The property manager offered to decorate for Christmas and did a fantastic job - the house looked so festive!
Surrounded by the city but country 'feel'. fantastic location for access to all important NC sites. Must see old state capital in center of downtown and Queen Anne historic governors mansion. The art museum is a must as well. While you are there go treat yourself to some warm Krispy Kreme doughnuts & coffee. (Caretakers/owners reside in small private area of property & are available to meet your needs)
