Casa Montisole is a beautiful 300 year old stone farmhouse that has just recently been renovated. A tremendous amount of effort has been put into creating an accommodation that exceeds the expectations of our guests. We call it 'Luxury Country Living'. The original character of the house was kept intact, while modern amenities were integrated into the interior. Elements such as a gourmet kitchen with fireplace, brand new appliances, granite counter top, glass door cupboards, dishwasher and American style refrigerator. Bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and shower, feature large beds, luxury linens and comforters and plenty of drawer space. The living room features leather sofas, a fireplace, and a plasma TV with DVD player. A private pool and garden offer panoramic views of the valley and the surrounding hills. Outdoor dining and barbeque areas are set among ancient olive trees that accent the garden.

I fell in love with the area on one of our many trips to Italy and decided this was the place I wanted to retire. After renovating the house, I invited various friends to stay and use the house, they were so impressed that I decided to open the doors to other guests who would also appreciate the house, the area and the convenience to many of Tuscany and Umbria's historical and beautiful sites.
Casa Montisole is located on a hilltop above a beautiful agricultural valley with 180 degree views of countryside, valleys and nearby ancient castles. It is a magical place that is wonderful for relaxation or a great base to use for sightseeing and getting to know Tuscany and Umbria.
This beautiful home has everything you need! Our family stayed in this gorgeous farmhouse for a week last summer and can't stop talking about it! We hope to visit again soon!!!
Casa Montisole is a fantastic place. Well equipped and very comfortable. The interior is tastefully decorated with all mod cons but the character of the farmhouse fully preserved. The pool and garden are lovely and the views stunning. The location is very convenient for exploring around Lake Trasimeno and Northern Umbria. It is a great place to relax in lovely countryside. The local towns of Umbertide and Mercatale have all the provisions you will need. Recommend a trip to Cortona and Montone as well as Gubbio and Citta di Castello.
Newly remodeled baths and kitchen, but awesome Tuscan character. Views were remarkable, pool exhilarating, lovely meals on the trellis patio looking over the valley! Oh God I want to go back just writing this! Everything we dreamed it would be and more.
To describe Casa Montisole as absolute perfection is an understatement. I stayed at the beautiful house with a group of friends and I could not imagine a more wonderful trip. The house's interior is decorated with taste and the kitchen is fully equipped. All of our modernized needs and comforts were met (while keeping the Tuscan style in tact!) inside of a timeless, stone farmhouse- a perfect balance. The front yard is very large and I would have been happy staying out there for the entire trip. There is a wonderful wooden gazebo with a table underneath, perfect for eating meals at. The pool is great to cool down in while, of course, gazing out onto the rolling hills (talk about a view!). I also loved the feel of being surrounded by beautiful nature while laying out in the sun! There are also many olive groves and vineyards within walking distance. The rest of the trip was such an adventure- I highly recommend visiting the town of Cortona- and it was always so nice returning to Casa Montisole after exploring. The local town of Mercatale just down the hill should have all you need and has a very quaint feel to it which makes it nice to shop around and meet locals. I really appreciated how much work and thought the owners seem to put into their house to make it above and beyond for their guests. There is also a property manager who speaks great English who was very helpful. I will definitely be returning to Casa Montisole and would recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience!
We stayed at Casa Montisole last October with two other of our couple friends. We had been planning this trip for a while and looked around a lot at many properties to rent, but decided on this one as it looked so nice in the photos. We were so pleased with our selection. It was even better in person. The rooms were a good size, the furniture and decor were very nice, modern, comfortable and chic. The bathrooms were fantastic- clean, modern, really nice. The interiors looked brand me and well designed, a perfect mix of modern faux with a 300 year old Italian country villa. We loved it as soon as we set foot inside and felt instantly right at home!
We were at first a little nervous about renting a house in the countryside, away from the average touristy areas. But it was absolutely fine. We found it easily (the owner gave us good directions). There was a property manager who let us in and helped us out when we needed it (she spoke English thankfully as none of us spoke Italian). The house was centrally located for planets of interesting day trips. And in the end we were just so happy just to spend a relaxing day at the house eating fresh homemade food and drinking quite a few bottles of good Italian wine out in the gardens of the house (when I'm Rome, do as the Romans do!). The weather was perfectly warm, we didn't use the pool but it was so nice to lay around it in the afternoons. It really was a dream vacation for all of us and hope to some day be able to return!
We couldn't be happier with our choice for this property. Everything was above our expectations. The house was well appointed and comfortable with all the basic needs that an American would enjoy and expect/want, yet still very charming in an old fashioned Italian, dreamy kind of way. (Our 2nd location for the trip, the following week in the north, was not nearly as nice). Our entire stay at the 'Casa Montisole' was absolutely delightful and we felt at home and part of the Italian countryside (the views are breathtaking and so relaxing!). The property manager was so helpful and spoke perfect English. Such a wonderful experience! We gladly give it five stars!
