This 1945 plantation home is located 3 blocks from Kailua beach and 2 blocks to Kailua town. It has been renovated to have open floor plan to provide comfortable living space without compromising it's Hawaiian charm. Living room & kitchen area with ceiling fans (no A/C). 3 Bedrooms with A/C, 1 Bedroom with ceiling fan, fully equipped kitchen, spacious patio, BBQ area, outdoor shower, and swimming pool. Please view all current photos.

Beach chairs/mats, boogie boards, sand toys, cooler and beach towels are provided.

***A private 1B/1B unit with separate entrance is located above the carport. Owners occupy the unit when in Kailua.

Kailua beach is 2.5 miles of white sand. Hawaiian sea turtles are a common sight in the turquoise waters of Kailua Bay. The bay is protected by an off-shore reef and is ideal for swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, kiteboarding, bodyboarding and surfing. Kailua bay is a renowned windsurfing and kiteboarding spot.

We are an active family that enjoys the outdoors. Boating, golfing, kiteboarding and stand up paddle boarding are some of the things we do around Kailua. We also enjoy traveling but get homesick if gone from the islands too long.

Pool is a great addition to this home, its a great way to enjoy the sun when not at the beach. Location of this home is a bonus where you can walk to Kailua town to shop, eat and explore Kailua town. Also, a 10min walk to Kailua beach, one of the most beautiful beach in the world.

Judy's home in Kailua was perfect for our family of 6 (4 adults and 2 children). The photos accurately depicted the space, which was comfortable, clean, and just enough room for all of us. Judy went out of her way to call me after we'd arrived to make sure everything was working properly (it was!), which was such a kind gesture. We'd absolutely recommend renting this house to anyone wanting a low-key Hawaiian vacation--Kailua and nearby Lanikai have some of the most incredible beaches I've seen anywhere. Plus the house is only 20 minutes or so away from Honolulu and Waikiki, if you're into the hustle and bustle. Mahalo again, Judy! And thank you for your lovely home! Best, Ashley

Owner has issues.

We are older adults that stayed at Judy's from March 9-16. Upon arrival it took us over an hour to get into the property because the lock box was broken. We called Judy for over an hour with no answer and finally managed to get it. The initial reponse to the property was that it needed work. The coffee maker lid was broken, carpet was stained, dishwasher was dirty. The out door area around the pool was a nice addition to the property and we enjoyed the pool. A few nights into our stay, a few of our friends observed what appeared to be large cock roaches in the pool are and inside the house. With that said, we have a practical jokester in our party who without our knowledge placed numerous rubber cockroaches( WHICH LOOKED VERY REAL) on the kitchen counters while we all slept. In the AM at approximately 5:15 to 5:30 I heard a friend screaming in the kitchen. I ran to see what was happening and she pointed to the counters in the kitchen( which was pretty dark at the time). I observed what appeared to be large cockroaches. I then took pictures and sent them to Judy and asked her if they were roaches. We then took wads of paper towel and wiped the roaches into the garbage. Judy called me approximately 1/2 later and stated that she had never seen anything like it. She stated that she would reimburse me for the food that we threw away but, I stated that I just wanted to give her a heads up. She asked where the bugs were and I told her that they were in the garbage and she stated that she was going to have her husband get them and have them tested. Fast forward to approximately 9:00pm Our good friend turns to us and states, "You guys didn't really think those roaches were real did you?" Well, I can tell you that we all almost fell out of chairs. Our friend stated that because we had seen roaches in the house, in the pool and on the patio he felt that it would be a good time to play the joke:( Nott cool. I called Judy and left a message about what we had learned,. The next morning I received a phone call from Judy and I apologized for the prank that our friend had pulled and also put him on speaker phone with her and her husband. Our friend explained that he pulled the prank after he had seen roaches in the house and she told him that we had 45 minutes to get out of her house or she would have us removed. I called Kailua PD and confirmed that we did not have to leave. Judy sent nasty texts to my phone. Please be careful with this women.

Nice clean home, well equipped

Judy's home was very nice and fit our family of 5 comfortably. The kids enjoyed the pool every day and there were swim vests and toys for them to use as well.

The location of the house is convenient. Overall, it's quiet and a close drive to the beach and stores (target, whole foods, local shops).

There's no A/C in the main house or the smallest bedroom but we found it to be cool regardless. The A/C in the larger bedrooms worked well.

The house was well stocked with towels and sheets. The washer / dryer was very convenient and had detergent and dryer sheets for our use.

The only critique would be the lack of clothes storage in some of the bedrooms. There was one full dresser in a bedroom but other rooms didn't have as much storage space (think 1- three drawer night stand). But we made it work and it was admittedly a minor annoyance.

Mahalo to Judy for her hospitality and sharing her home. Our family had a wonderful vacation and we are looking forward to a return trip :)

Hawaii life!

We loved the house and how close it was to great dining and proximity to main roads and the beach. The pool was freezing, but we did go in February, which is a little cooler even in Hawaii. The house is perfect for sleeping with the windows open.

The two bathrooms are in the hallway which is great for a rental! The washer and dryer was a big bonus!

Judy sent multiple messages checking on us and always responded when we had questions.

I would highly recommend this property when staying in Kailua! We loved breakfast at Kono's and Over Easy, the Kailua pork is amazing!

Comfortable home, convenient location

The property owner: Judy doesn't take personal ownership for any issues, dissatisfaction or lacking of amenities. I offered a very lengthy feedback email about several non-urgent issues and suggestions. She blamed all issues on "her" housekeepers and never ever apologized on her own behalf as the property owner. She doesn't believe it's necessary to have a household fire extinguisher or carbon monoxide detectors inside a home that has gas appliances. Her response was that I could have bought one& she would have reimbursed me. There were 6 washcloths and we had to wash them every morning for 7 days. Her response was that in October while she was in the home, there was an adequate amount. There was open food in the frig including tequila, ranch dressing without a label and shelves were not wiped clean. I can see leaving previous guests spices or unopened food. There was a used bar of soap in the shower. "Her" housekeepers may need to be supplied with a very detailed checklist if they are going to have oversights as such. I've vacationed in 6+ VRBO's and have never received such an unprofessional response from a property owner when offering feedback. The frontload washing machine was so full of brown slimy gunk on the rubber that I spent time wiping it and running a sanitizing cycle 3 times in my 8 day stay. She never even thanked me. She was rude and asumtious in stating that because the housekeeper found sand on the wood floor inside the house after our departure that no one must have rinsed off before entering the house and that posted vacationing rules were not followed by us. There were ZERO "rules" posted. It's odd that she even states that. The posting is very vague and is what was emailed to me after I booked. No mention about no dirt or sand can be on the floor. I did however pay a $400 cleaning fee and left that home in better condition in which I arrived.

The home was nice, comfy, accommodating, convenient and fit our family size. We enjoyed our beach vacation. Kalama beach is a short 2+ block walking distance and is clean and safe for families. The Crepe's restaurant down the road is yummy. Walgreens has overall better prices than Safeway and are more like Mainland prices. Whole Foods is better and fresher option for groceries over Safeway.

Owner's Response: Aloha, I appreciate every feedback and I'm always open to suggestions. I do apologize if your expectations were not met. I cater to everyone and that is why every single day you had questions I've always responded and asked you if you needed anything or if you have concerns. Your response was always that things are okay. It would have been very easy if you would have voiced your concerns, I could have correct them right there and then. Sometimes things gets missed or does not get done by our housekeeper and when this happens it's better to let me know so that I can send her back to the house and do a better job. And of course if you were in dire need of fire extinguisher I would have our housekeeper pick one up for you, and it would not be an issue. You made a big deal out of nothing. If you want something cleaned, mention it so that I can help you. Don't wait to go home and complain, how Am I suppose to service your needs if I do not know them. Vacating instruction is posted on the living room wall and also emailed to you along with your check in instruction. I practice ALOHA!

This property is fantastic for a Hawaii getaway on a budget

We shared this property with friends and it was perfect for our needs. It meant we didn't have to spend alot of money on food and an expensive hotel and got to take advantage of its short distance to shops and the beach.

Very spacious, clean, lots of extras

We loved staying in Kailua! This house had plenty of space for us and provided many items (chairs, mats, boogie boards, coolers, towels, laundry, etc) that made our stay very enjoyable. The pool was a lot bigger than expected! We had some crazy weather but having a pool for the kids to swim in was such a blessing! Loved the outside shower and fully stocked kitchen! Thank you!
