Feel the peace and solitude of this spacious log-cabin style, 3-bedroom, 3-bath home located behind the Mildred Peterson Nature Preserve “On the Hill” just a short walk from downtown Saugatuck!
Impressive natural views of the preserve pour in through the two story windows of the large Great Room where you’ll find ample space to entertain or to recline in front of a glowing fire by the large wood burning Fireplace. Enjoy a true family feast around the large dining table for 10 in the great room or perhaps a quiet dinner accompanied by the sounds of nature on the large screen porch!
Take in the views from the spacious 2nd floor King master-suite (with JACUZZI and private deck) that opens out onto the spacious loft overlooking the great room, which also contains a Sofa Sleeper for extra sleeping. With 2 more bedrooms plus an additional Sofa Sleeper in the Lower Level, everyone will have plenty of space to spread out.
Swan Lodge has an ideal location as you are just a brisk 4-5 block walk into downtown Saugatuck, where you’ll find great shops, galleries and dining, or a 5-7 minute drive to all of the area beaches, such as Oval Beach and Douglas beach.
Overall this is a good rental. It has a nice cabin feel, beautiful windows, good open floor plan and is walking distance to town. The drawbacks for us were the master is actually a loft open to the living space below, so there are privacy issues if you are with a group. Also the master has no closet or dresser, just a pop-up Ikea cloth temporary space to hang a few things. The rest of the home has lovely furnishings so that was odd. A few up-keep things, the roof leaked when it rained and there were some minor repairs needed. The property is in a lovely setting, however it is at the end of a court and their are neighbors. The pictures make it look remote and private which its not. But we loved the street and the neighbors were all very friendly. There is no back-yard, just as an FYI. The screened in porch is great, however it's on the side of the house and you are looking right at the neighbors home. Either way, it was nice to have a porch and be able to sit outside without bugs. Working with the rental company was a good experience, the home was clean and they provided great directions. Overall its a good rental, nice "up north" feel and 15 minute walk to town.
We loved the Swan Lodge! It was absolutely gorgeous, with great views of the bog yet very close to the city.
Super spacious and warm, it fit 10 of us comfortably. Tons of room for cooking, dining and relaxing. We don't recommend the downstairs pull out bed but luckily there are enough beds to choose from!
We will definitely be coming back next winter
We picked Swan Lodge because of the photos and the it was everything we hoped it would be. Beautiful house, great location next to the woods and just a short walk into town. We especially enjoyed the local beaches and a morning of fishing on Lake Michigan, plus strolls around town and the local restaurants. The Lakeshore Lodging team was friendly and helpful. An excellent time for our family.
We stayed here for an impromptu family get together. The log cabin is beautiful, tons of space. We enjoyed the large table that let us all eat together (with visitors, we had a total of 14 at one point!). The table also allowed us to play massive card games while we experienced a thunderstorm through the gigantic windows in the woods. The beds were all comfortable and the fire place gave us a chance to have our campfire despite the wet weather. Everything was spotless. We enjoyed a short drive to the beach several times during our stay. We biked, walked to the high school that's nearby for some hoops, played ping pong, and enjoyed the relaxing showers and huge bathtub with jets. Definitely would recommend this as a fun place to stay. One detail, the outdoor fire circle didn't work for us with the weather, but the indoor fireplace saved the day for our smore-loving kiddos!
I rented Swan Lodge for a ladies weekend away. The rental process with the property management company was friendly, quick, and easy. On arrival, the home was even nicer than the pictures! Very clean, decorated beautifully, nice finishes, and every ammenity and need was graciously available. The open concept allowed for us to enjoy each others company and conversation comfortably. It was quick walk from the house into downtown Saugatuck. We strolled and enjoyed the great people, shops, and food. Such a relaxed and fun downtown atmosphere! If you're looking for a vacation rental in a quiet, wooded atmosphere, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax, yet still close enough to enjoy eclectic shopping, bars and restaurants..Swan Lodge is the place!
We have stayed here the last 4 years. Very nice lodge, and ideal location to town. There has been no updates in the 4 years we have been there to the lodge. Still the same old tvs, main radio in the kitchen that has speakers in living room has been broken every year we have been renting. This year really kind of caught me off guard though, within 2 hours of being there we were grilling on the outside back patio when one of us was leaning against the railing and it completely came un-done! There was an easy 15' fall to the ground on the other side, luckily he caught himself. It would have been terrible otherwise... Next the garbage can was completely full when we got there, so we had no room for disposing of trash, but they took some of it out when they came the next afternoon to fix railing. The first morning making a pot of coffee, the handle on the pot of coffee snapped with a full pot of coffee... It was just very irritating to run across so many things not in good shape within the first day of being there. Every skylight has been boarded up, so it is rather dark on the inside. Like I said location is great, and lodge on paper is wonderful, but the maintenance of this this property has me thinking otherwise. Im not sure what we will be doing next year, it definitely has me second guessing myself.
