About Dan Ward

This home was originally purchased to get away from a hectic environment of the big city life in California and New York. Solitude with nature are rare to find in today's 'hustle and bustle' world.

Dan Ward purchased this house in 2006

Why Dan Ward chose Northeast Florida

The home is secluded and private. Its ideal for family gatherings, a romantic retreat or to get away from a hectic life style. Rejuvenate and unwind while enjoying the island. A spa allows you to heat and massage the tensions away. Golf courses, shopping, bike trails and restaurants are all nearby. Bikers and joggers frequent the area due to minimal traffic. Fishermen have said the beach in this area provides excellent surf fishing.

What makes this house unique

This property offers a private and secluded setting. A vacation is meant to be relaxing and rejuvenation. You will achieve this experience with the serene location. Most oceanfront house are located on AIA with heavy traffic conditions. This private home is located off the main road with nearby amenities. The Omni Plantation and the Ritz Carlton are nearby with restaurants and shopping. Downtown is a few miles away. The house has a fenced in paver stone patio with spa, fire pit and Adirondack chairs to enjoy a great night listening to the ocean with a warmth of the fire which adds ambiance for a couple's private evening or a family outing. The tropical surrounding and designer interior offers a special and unique environment like none other on the island. Although there have been events accommodated in the past, we no longer allow for events such as weddings since the homeowners insurance does not permit nor allow for them.

Fabulous Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

In May of 2016 we spent our yearly 'Girls Vacation' at Pelican Landing. I've stayed in many vacation rentals thru the years and this is, by far, my favorite. The home is gorgeous, beautifully decorated, spacious, very accommodating and spotlessly clean, inside and out. It's so comfy cozy you'll want to stay forever. There was even soft music playing when we first entered the home. There's a beautiful patio out back, a small deck upstairs off the master suite and a large deck off the main floor which runs the entire width of the house. If not on the beach, this is where we spent most of our time enjoying the incredible ocean view. The lighting that surrounds the house, including decks and patio automatically turn on at dusk, so we always felt very safe and secure. The beautiful beach is just steps from the house and was very quiet and peaceful. The owner provides beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc for your use, even a wagon for hauling it all to the beach.

The restaurants are all marvelous, shopping in Fernandina Beach is great, and there are lots of things to do, some of which are hiking, horseback riding and boat rides/tours. Or you can just lay on the beach all week like we did!

I can't say enough good things about Dan Ward, the owner. I had several conversations with him prior to our stay and you won't find a kinder, more helpful man than he is. It's obvious his goal is to guarantee his guests truly have an enjoyable, unforgettable time at Pelican Landing. I would highly recommend renting this property!!

Wonderful house and a great location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family rents a house at a beach somewhere every year. We have rented in Hilton Head, Charleston, and Saint Simon's Island. This was our first trip to Amelia Island and it did not disappoint. Of all the houses we have rented this house was by far the best! The house is very well maintained and the owner has provided everything you need to spend a week at the beach - very well appointed. I have not even mentioned the location which was amazing. Beach views everywhere and the town of Fernandina is not far with lots of things to do. Can't wait to go back!

Totally Pleased

  • 5 of 5

We just recently returned from a week at Pelican Landing. We have been renting houses at Amelia Island for close to 40 years and I have to say Pelican Landing was the most accommodating yet. All the little touches made for a great vacation experience. From every appliance working and of good quality to strollers and baby crib for our grand daughter being provided. The home was immaculately clean upon checking in and staged perfectly with Jazz music playing in the back ground. I wanted to selfishly write a bad review so Dan's calendar might losing up and make it easier for me to make a return reservation but it would not be fair to him. I highly recommend this home to anyone that is tired of the tired old beach house experience.

Comfortable and Classy

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our 5 adult children and granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pelican Landing. The owner was very accommodating. The home was comfy but also had a lot of extras to make you feel pampered. The furniture and decorating was top notch. There is easy access to the ocean and the exterior shower was great after a day on the beach. We also enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub on several cool evenings. Amelia Island has a lot to offer. The downtown area is very quaint with excellent dining. Lu Lu's was great. I also recommend the sunset river boat cruise. My kids have already mentioned they would like to go back to Amelia Island and stay at Pelican Landing.

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Pelican Landing. When we walked in, the sounds of soft jazz were playing, the lights were dimmed and the house was spotless. We opened the doors leading to the balcony and the sounds and smells of the ocean came rushing in. This was exactly what we wanted. I can't say enough nice things about the home - it was perfect. There were beach chairs and umbrellas for our use, an outdoor shower and plenty of bath towels. The kitchen was well equipped.

The beach surprised us a little in that it allows cars/trucks (with a permit) to drive directly onto the beach. So on the weekends, it was pretty crowded with vehicles. This is a big plus for people with lots of equipment that they can't carry, but it distracted from the beauty of the scenery. During the week, though, there were only one or two vehicles in the morning while people were fishing. We were there in May and we practically had the whole beach to ourselves during the week.

Definitely a great place to relax and enjoy the ocean!

Fantastic!!

  • 5 of 5

There were 5 adults plus a four legged family member on a trip to celebrate a big birthday. From mornings on the porch watching the sunrise to walks on the beach which was right over the dune to evenings circled around the firepit it completely fit the bill. Stone turtles on the back of the property mingled with real turtles and Pelicans were guarding the property at all times. Town is not within walking distance but was easily close enough for dinners out or an afternoon of carefree shopping. Oh, and Shrimp Festival is not to be missed if you're in town that weekend. Response from Dan was prompt and thorough for any questions as well. Would definitely look to rent again.

The October issue of Conde Travel Magazine ranked Amelia Island as one of the top ten destinations for islands in the United States. This article states, 'Whether it's the seemly endless green space or the unbelievable hospitable locals, readers agree that this Florida island is a beautiful, history-filled family location.'

Travel and Leisure Magazine ranked Amelia Island #3 as America's Most Romantic Destination. They state, 'Reader's love this barrier island town most for its parks and quaint historic downtown'.

Every year the Ritz of Amelia Island hosts the Concours d' Elegance which is the largest car show in the eastern United States.

The 12 mile by two mile island offers numerous golf courses, horseback riding on the beach, kayaking along with trails for jogging, running and biking.

The island is one of the oldest settled sites in America and offers town and ghost tours. The oldest bar in Florida, the Palace Saloon, offers evening entertainment along with numerous other bars, such as O'Kane's, and several restaurants ranging from waterfront fine dining, to French, Italian, Asian and Mexican restaurants. There are many seafood restaurants on the oceanfront to enjoy the locals catch of the day.

Nearby are several restaurants, the Salt (located at the Ritz), Bar Zin, Cucina South, Verandah, PLAE, Baxter's and Parkway Grill are all located in under a mile away. A personal favorite is David's downtown. It has a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a friendly service-oriented staff and a large menu of gourmet foods ranging from surf to turf.
