This home was originally purchased to get away from a hectic environment of the big city life in California and New York. Solitude with nature are rare to find in today's 'hustle and bustle' world.
Dan Ward purchased this house in 2006
The home is secluded and private. Its ideal for family gatherings, a romantic retreat or to get away from a hectic life style. Rejuvenate and unwind while enjoying the island. A spa allows you to heat and massage the tensions away. Golf courses, shopping, bike trails and restaurants are all nearby. Bikers and joggers frequent the area due to minimal traffic. Fishermen have said the beach in this area provides excellent surf fishing.
This property offers a private and secluded setting. A vacation is meant to be relaxing and rejuvenation. You will achieve this experience with the serene location. Most oceanfront house are located on AIA with heavy traffic conditions. This private home is located off the main road with nearby amenities. The Omni Plantation and the Ritz Carlton are nearby with restaurants and shopping. Downtown is a few miles away. The house has a fenced in paver stone patio with spa, fire pit and Adirondack chairs to enjoy a great night listening to the ocean with a warmth of the fire which adds ambiance for a couple's private evening or a family outing. The tropical surrounding and designer interior offers a special and unique environment like none other on the island. Although there have been events accommodated in the past, we no longer allow for events such as weddings since the homeowners insurance does not permit nor allow for them.
We are a couple who travel quite a bit and have stayed in approximately forty homes the past ten years. Pelican Landing is one of the least expensive properties in which we have stayed and yet it ranks in our top five of all time! What a bargain this home is. Dan Ward is great to deal with and as I told him, we are always prepared for the usual minor annoyances frequently encountered but there were NONE I really mean that: NONE Everything works great in this hime.. the TV's have DVR recorders, the beach is easy to walk onto (and endless!). The neighborhood is quite historic and if you take your kids take time to read the plaques which lie at the foot of the dunes on the west side of American Beach. You will see decedents of the original residents slowly making their way down the road now and then or visiting at their front doors. Million dollar properties blending in with surviving houses from so long ago. This precious beach is amazingly well situated halfway between the magnificent Ritz Carlton and the equally luxurious large Omni Resort both of which can be reached with a good hike but both of which are far enough away to make you feel you are in "Old Florida" The friendliness of the town will make you aware that Georgia "manners" and culture are apparent here, understandably since south Georgia is close by. The house is absolutely perfect. The historic homes in town are just gorgeous and there are dozens and dozens of good restaurants and live theater and other entertainments. Fort Clinch is truly worth an hour of your time...we stayed two hours ! I could go on and on about the things to do but if you read this review take it seriously. I have only bothered to write one other review out of about forty homes. It's that good my friends....
From our first view of the house we were very impressed. Then when we saw the inside we were even more impressed. Everything was so cleaned and beautifully decorated. We like to cook and there was every imaginable utensil for our cooking needs. Well supplied and stocked from soap to toilet paper to paper towels with beach chairs and lawn chairs available. The fire pit and hot tub were fabulous. Even tough we were only there for 4 days, it was still an unforgettable experience. We can not say enough about how helpful Dan was in making our decision about leaving ahead of the storm. Are only hope is that the house did not sustain serious damage. Dan is a person of definite character and interested in provide you with a comfortable vacation. I highly recommend Pelican Landing as a rental home for any one's vacation. The house is more secluded than you would fine with most rental homes and has a peaceful beach.
We had such a fantastic time.... the whole family and even Amber Molly our dog :) ! Thanks for allowing her to come too as she is a big part of our family. We hope to come stay at your beautiful home again as it was just perfect! Dan leaves no detail left out. Quiet, restful & the artwork in the house is such a nice touch. Dan is an amazing host!
American Beach is undergoing a revival with new homes facing this beautiful beach. Pelican Landing is a great house that is comfortable and well equipped. The view from the spacious living room is spectacular. The kitchen is easy to work in. We enjoyed using the grill on the patio. The owner is very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. Even with a little brush by Hurricane Hermine, our family of seven had a wonderful vacation.
This beautiful home is more than adequately equipped to make a stay easy for a large, multi-aged family. The location is spectacular, the beach and the view beautiful, the home welcoming and comfortable. Just be aware of the steps for elderly folks. They aren't bad at all but they ARE there at the entrance and to the master suite upstairs (which is absolutey fabulous!)! The downstairs bedroom, while windowless, is a beautiful, quiet and private retreat that our 30ish son and daughter-in-law LOVED! The bedrooms on the main floor are lovely and comfortable. And who stays in the bedroom at the beach, anyway? The hot tub is an added bonus. Access to the beach is a breeze. The outdoor shower is divine! The grill is great and high end. There are no complaints from THIS group about anything at all. Dan is accessible and quick to address any concerns that may come up. The extras he has available in the home make it evident that your pleasure in and enjoyment of his house matter to him. A fantastic find! We are planning our next stay already...
This was our family's second visit at Pelican Landing and we are already planning to reserve for 2017. House has everything you could ask for in a summer vacation beach front property.
The October issue of Conde Travel Magazine ranked Amelia Island as one of the top ten destinations for islands in the United States. Every year the Ritz of Amelia Island hosts the Concours d' Elegance which is the largest car show in the eastern United States.
The 12 mile by two mile island offers numerous golf courses, horseback riding on the beach, kayaking along with trails for jogging, running and biking.
The island is one of the oldest settled sites in America and offers town and ghost tours. The oldest bar in Florida, the Palace Saloon, offers evening entertainment along with numerous other bars, such as Amelia Tavern, and several restaurants ranging from waterfront fine dining, to French, Italian, Asian and Mexican restaurants. There are many seafood restaurants on the oceanfront to enjoy the locals catch of the day.
Nearby are several restaurants, the Salt (located at the Ritz), Bar Zin, Cucina South, Verandah, PLAE, Baxter's and Parkway Grill are all located in under a mile away. A personal favorite is David's downtown. It has a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a friendly service-oriented staff and a large menu of gourmet foods ranging from surf to turf.
