Summer Midweek and Fall is Available
My mom and dad loved Burke and the Northeast Kingdom. My dad was an Aeronautical Engineer at Pratt and Whitney—(A United Technologies (UTX) company). They searched for about two years for “a view”. In 1995 they located the prize property. He designed the home and construction began two years later. He designed and oversaw the construction of the house you are considering renting.
Matt purchased this House in 1990
Why Matt chose Burke
The house was built with 360 degree views. Northern winters and western winds necessitated the planting of 250 trees on the west side for a windbreak. The trees are now about 40’ tall and protect the house. The house is about one mile off Rt 5, five miles from Burke Mountain and seven miles from Exit 22 on Rt. 91. At the top of the paved (yes that’s how the locals knew my parents were “flatlanders”) 100 yard driveway there is parking for about 10 cars including two indoors under the house.
What makes this House unique
Should power go out, a full-house generator was installed in December 2012.
Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
Has great views of Burke mountain virtually 360 of mountain tops of the surrounding Vermont scenery
Our stay was during July 4th week
Property was tidy while some things need updating from usage wear.
Skiing in March
The house has spectacular views and is very well equiped. The sledding hill out front is awesome and there are sleds in the garage to use. The ride to Burke or town is about ten minute, which makes it nice. The house is big enough to handle a lot of people. The only down side is the hot water system can only handle one shower at a time, which makes it hard, when you have more then a few people that need to get ready at the same time. Other then that the house is great and the owner is very nice and will try to help you with any problem that may arise. Thanks Mat for the good stay.
We had a really nice time and had lots of snow. Love the views from the house.
This place is excellent! We have stayed in East Burke for 4 years now and this is the first time in this house. Without question we will be back next year if it's available. The views are amazing - full stop. We could see both the sunrise and the sunset from the yard. Plenty of rooms in the house, and the kitchen was very spacious for our group. Living room had 3 couches which gave us plenty of room to relax.
Also, Matt (owner) was super-responsive and very easy to talk with. Highly recommended all around.
Gorgeous views, huge kitchen & TV, comfy beds, fun pool table - easy access - all you could ask for!
My title says it all - the beds were super comfy, the view was stunning and peaceful, the pool table, dining room, and kitchen were fun and practical. This place is perfect for large groups who need lots of room. Access was easy and simple. Basement room was a bit musty - I would give that a miss.
Great Views / Tons of Beds / Close to Skiing
The house is great, with a large great room including huge dinner table and pool table with large windows looking out to the great views of Burke Mountain. Many beds throughout the house, perfect for multiple families or a large group.
Very helpful owner and very helpful neighbors who look after the house.
Minutes from Burke Mountain and Kindom Trail. Both are highly regarded by Skiers, Boarders, and Mountain Bikers.
