Guestbook comments from the owner

We throughly enjoyed our time at the cottage, thank you for everything. It was so nice to rent somewhere that had everything we could need. The kids had a blast as well. We are looking forward to coming back next year July 8th.

Thanks again for opening your lovely cottage to us.

Perfect for Visiting Family

  • 5 of 5

We found the cottage on VRBO and contacted Lisa about a year in advance; she was so sweet and helpful from the very beginning. My husband's parents are from Colombia and this cottage was the perfect place for them to stay during their three-week visit for our wedding. We got married at The Vineyards in Aquebogue, NY and the cottage was just a short drive away. The cottage is located close to the outlets and other major stores, but also secluded enough that you don't feel like you are on a busy island. The beach was perfect for my in-laws and they were able to relax when we were busy doing wedding things. The cottage is very clean and comes equipped with everything that you would need for a short or long stay. My husband's sister and boyfriend also stayed a few nights and so we were able to accommodate everyone. We enjoyed using the grill and BBQ'ing on the patio; it's very spacious. Lisa checked in with us to make sure everything was okay and she was very easy to reach if we had any questions. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking to visit Long Island. We would love to reserve it again next time my in-laws visit the U.S.

What a great place!

  • 5 of 5

Needed a quick get away, just 2 nights (it's the minimum stay). The place is perfect. 2 bedrooms, clean, bright, sunlit. Nice patio with private gas BBQ. The beach was right there and was not crowded at all. If you walked just a little bit past the stairs, you were basically away from everyone else.

The farm stands are open and local strawberries were in. Yumm. There's a great winery "Baiting Hollow Vineyards", "LIV" Long Island Vodka, and "The Cooperage Inn" all in a row right on Sound Ave. near the cottage. We did it all. Wish we had more time.

Owner's Response: We are very glad that this couple had such a great holiday weekend, and had some of the wonderful experiences that the east end of Long Island is famous for. They would be welcomed back any time.

Cottage by the Sea

  • 4 of 5

3 of my friends and I were lucky to have booked this affordable cottage during the "last weekend of summer"!

The location was so convenient to the beach and wineries! Lisa was such a pleasure to work with in booking this trip and the cottage was exactly as it was described in the listing. I would definitely recommend to all travelers visiting the North Fork area.

Owner's Response: If you want to experience Eastern Long Island, staying at the cottage is the way to go! The money you would spend on renting a limo for the day to run out to the wineries could be put to better use by staying as a guest at the cottage for a weekend, a week, or a month. You'd be able to relax, enjoy the beach, BBQ in your bathing suit on your own patio, go back to the beach or shower and go out for the evening. Visiting the wineries, farm stands with their fresh produce, homemade pies and honey is very relaxing if you don't have to make a made dash back to the City. The East End also has wonderful restaurants, golf courses, and the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is not far away. Come and be our guest!

Great home base for the North Fork

  • 5 of 5

We came for an out-of-season beach stay and had a great time. The cottage was clean, cozy and perfectly located for day trips along the North Fork out to Orient Point, Greenport, and Shelter Island. We even got some (chilly but enjoyable) time in at the sound and ocean beaches.

Our 3yo daughter had a great time collecting shells, building sand castles, riding in the kiddie seat on a bike and — I highly recommend this — the camera obscura on the marina at Greenport.

A couple of tips for future visitors: [1] Bring your own soap (hand, bath/shower) as it won't be provided. [2] If you are keen to cook while you are on vacation, as we are, note that the oven does not work. This is actually explicitly mentioned in the HomeAway profile but easily missed, and for this I fault HomeAway's user interface, not the owner.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that this young family had a great time! After many phone calls and questions from them, we were happy that they took our suggestions and visited the historic town of Greenport which was holding its "Maritime Festival", rode a moped around on Shelter Island, ate fresh seafood at "Bouy One" and "Jerry and The Mermaid", and walked both the North Shore and South Shore (Ocean) beaches. Guests have their own preferences and allergies, so personal toiletries are not provided. It's surprising that this family was disappointed that the cottage didn't have an oven as this was mentioned to them and is also listed in the rental agreement. The cottage has a 4 burner stove, microwave, and an outdoor gas grill which guests love to use. The kitchen is equipped with a nice assortment of pots and pans, utensils, dishes, full size refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee pot, blender and a stocked spice cabinet which is very much appreciated by guests.

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here for my second time this summer. The second time was for a week in July and it was great. The beach is about 5/10 minutes away and very nice and not that many people. The property manager is very responsive and helpful. I definitely plan on coming back.

Owner's Response: Many guests come back again and again to vacation at the cottage. The cottage is situated at the beginning of Long Island's wine country so there is no need to rent a limo, you are already there! The private beach is just a short walk away and is not crowded at all. Take a break from the beach and walk back "home" to BBQ, relax, shower and go out to dinner at one of the great local restaurants. It's always a pleasure to help guests have a wonderful vacation.

Owner's Response: These guests were a 4 person family from Queens with older children, and parents with high profile jobs who needed to get away from it all for a while. The cottage is in a no fuss, laid back, beach community of other little cottages right on the shore of Long Island Sound. The area has lots of actively worked farms, and is dotted with small Mom and Pop owned farm stands and wineries. The beach is private, not crowed, just a short walk from the cottage and you won't be chased off at sunset like you are at public beaches. Come and visit!

Eastern Long Island, is a fabulous area. The cottage is on the North Fork which hugs Long Island Sound and extends to Orient Point where you can catch the ferry to both Mohegan Sun and Fox Woods casinos. Visit the wineries and farm stands on both the north and south forks to give yourselves a wonderful day trip. Of course there's the beach within walking distance from the cottage. Do you like to fish? Captain Bob's in Mattituck is the place to charter a fishing boat. Afterwards, dine at 'The Waterfront' restaurant right next door on the outdoor deck, or inside. Do you like to golf? Try "Cherry Creek Golf Links" right on Sound Ave. just East of the cottage.

The cottage is also just 20 mins. from West Hampton on the south fork, where you can drive over the bridge to the famous Dune road and see all of the beautiful mansions! Keep driving, and you'll come to Cupsogue County Beach which is open to the public and enjoy a day at the ocean. West Hampton is your gateway to The Hamptons. Enjoy!

In addition to the private beach, Woodcliff Park has a community laundry room with coin operated washers and dryers. Next to it is the basketball court.
