The Blueberry Cove Lakehouse is a secluded cottage with panoramic views of Webster Lake. Situated in a private cove and bordering the woods, the lakehouse is a perfect getaway for both families and couples. Enjoy reading a book in our hammock, swimming and fishing in the lake, or simply relaxing on the private beach only a few steps away from the front door. At night you can cuddle up with hot cocoa while gazing at the stars, roast smores at the firepit, or play music on the digital piano.
We are also proud to offer high-speed internet access, cable HDTV, fully equipped kitchen, outdoor gas grill, picnic table, canoe, 2-person kayak, rowboat, painting easel, air-conditioning in the bedrooms and in the livingroom, inflatables, downy pillows and covers, soft towels as well as washing machine and dryer. The quiet serenity of the Blueberry Cove Lakehouse is ideal for artists, writers, bird watchers and nature lovers (ospreys, loons, hummingbirds and bald eagles are frequently seen in the woods around the house). On the property you can find many blueberry bushes and also strawberries and blackberries. In the garden we planted this spring some tomatoes and peppers for our guests to enjoy. There is also an herb garden.
Webster Lake itself is a wonderful lake. It warms up comfortably for swimming, is stocked with fish every year for fishing, has small islands and coves to explore kayaking. But most important of all, not too many properties border the lake, which keeps it from being overrun like bigger lakes in NH. Additionally our Blueberry Cove lakehouse is situated on the meandering cove side which adds to its charm and feel of privacy.
We are small family, and for years we have traveled around the world. Only recently settling in Newton, MA, we fell in love with the beautiful hiking trails and magnificent views of Franklin, NH, and were overjoyed at the opportunity to purchase this house from family friends. We've spent many weekends at this house, playing board games and painting and having an absolutely wonderful time. We hope you'll love our lake house as much as we do.
Brigitte Schacher purchased this house in 2011
Situated in a private cove and neighboring the woods, The Lake House is a fantastic bird-watching spot. We've seen loons, ospreys, cardinals, ruby-throated hummingbird, belted kingfisher, cedar waxwings and regularly a great bald eagle.
With a sandy private beach not ten steps away from the front porch, we have spent many beautiful days relaxing in the sun, but there is also a larger public beach only a short walk down the road.
And on occasional lucky days, the ice-cream truck stops right outside our front gate!
The cottage was an absolute delight! Perfectly appointed. Wonderful views of and access to the lake and private beach. Comfy beds and pillows. Space to relax, games to play, books to read. The loons, bald eagles, herons, and multitude of songbirds were fantastic. Blackberries, and of course, blueberries ripe for the eating (late July). Boats, kayaks, floats for the water. Bikes for a trip around the lake. Set up just as you would want it to be. Would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you for a wonderful stay! (4 people: 2 adults, 1 15-year-old boy, and 1 13-year-old girl)
I'll try not to repeat things from the other reviews like the canoes, the chocolates, etc. All of that was our experience also.
One thing we enjoyed about the stay was how thoughtfully the kitchen was stocked. We grilled ribs and steaks, and boiled lobster while we were there. From the tupperware for storing leftovers, to having a nice nutcracker and crab forks for eating lobster (there are some shops in Franklin to get lobster), a grill, spices, a blender, etc. It was more than just a nice place to stay. There are lots of things you just won't think about or maybe kind of wish you had, and time and time again, they had it.
The weather there in June was absolutely perfect. The air was cool, sometimes there was a slight breeze, other times, it was completely still and the water on the lake was like glass. You have your own stretch of beach and your own dock. It was exquisite. We'd do it again.
One thing to be aware of, is that the cleaning crew comes right at 10am. One of the girls was doing some tidying up before we left, but the crew was very nice so it wasn't a big deal at all.
Thank you for the awesome honeymoon!
Paradise sums up our stay at blueberry cottage. Everything was clean, beautiful and most welcoming. We did not want to go home and can't wait to go back!
My family of four (including our 3 and 6 year old) arrived at Webster Lake on a Friday afternoon. We had no problem gaining entrance to the home. We were welcomed by a cozy welcome basket with chocolates, tea, hot cocoa and coffee. Everything was clean and ready for use. We enjoyed playing board games, going fishing (caught a beautiful large mouth bath right from the dock and a blue gill from the boat) using the kayak, canoe and rowboat. We also had a campfire and roasted marshmallows. The kids enjoyed walking up the path to the garden on the hill and searching for treasures to add to our meals. (Which included tomatoes, hot peppers, a pepper and some seasoning.) They also enjoyed using the beach toys to play on the small sandy beach. Loved that we could, as parents, relax in beach chairs while they were perfectly entertained. I liked that the kitchen was labeled so we knew where things went and that the outdoor cups were on a shelf my children could reach so they could help themselves. During our stay we hiked up Mt. Kearsage and went mining at Ruggels Mine. It was a beautiful, clean home right on the lake with gorgeous views. I would definitely stay again. My only small recommendation would be an external window washing to clear away some of the naturally accumulating debris. Thanks for a fabulous stay!!!
We are just back from a wonderful week at this pitch perfect home on Webster Lake. We met friends here and all of us were blown away by the condition of the home, the amenities and the beautiful setting. This was our first trip to Webster Lake so we were not to know that parts of the lake have homes set very close together. With this home, you have a much more private setting on the quiet end of the lake and gorgeous views. The house itself is a delight with a wonderful kitchen, a living room and dining area with amazing lake views, a cozy den and two comfortable bedrooms. The master suite has a half bath with laundry which was very convenient. Down pillows and comforters add to the comfort while the kitchen has upscale appliances and basic pantry items provided. The owners have done a fabulous job creating a comfortable home and were delightful to work with as we planned our trip. We enjoyed canoeing and kayaking on the lake and could have gone for a swim even this late in the year. I can't imagine many rental homes with a vegetable/herb garden for tenants to use and we made good use of it as we prepared our meals. There is a grocery store about 10 minutes away and it has a good selection. The area has lots of things to see and enjoy within a reasonable distance, but the cabin and lake were so pleasant that we spent a lot of time there just soaking in the view. The listing information above is correct and very detailed which makes planning much easier and pretty as the photos are, they simply do not do the place justice. I don't know when we will return to NH, but I know we will head for Webster Lake and hope this cabin is available if we do.
Everything about this vacation was perfect. The cottage is actually even nicer than the pictures. The location of this cottage, quiet and private, the attention to detail of the cottage, very up to date, very very clean, bright and open. The lake is wonderful for canoeing and kayaking and fishing. The owner is very accommodating . Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.
About 90 Minutes from Boston up Route 93
Our lakehouse at Blueberry Cove is within an hour's drive of Mount Cardigan, Mount Major, and the White Mountains. Lots of little antique shops in the area.
