We stayed in this apartment May 2017. It was phenomenal. The location was perfect. We walked into town everyday, took the ferry to many different villages on the lake and enjoyed every moment. The details in the apartment are exquisite. Everywhere was immaculate and the very latest in technology. Each night we could hear the water lapping softly against the pier -- it was heaven. Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation.
Wow! Wow! And Wow!
Sometimes the stars line up, and perfection ensues! Any trip to spectacularly beautiful Lake Como is sure to bring awe and delight to the traveler, but having the added privilege of staying in a stellar location on the lake in an outstanding apartment makes the trip a truly sensational one!
The Argegno penthouse apartment 3005921 was a wonderful rental for two rather fussy female friends, both of us high end interior designers, critical of design flaws and perhaps more sensitive to interiors than most. The apartment did not disappoint in any way! It was light filled, very clean, contemporary with lovely finishes, interesting artwork, comfortable furniture, and with two almost equal bedrooms and bathrooms with an open kitchen/ dining/ living space to separate the bedrooms. Not only that, but each space had its own balcony overlooking the lake with the most glorious views to the left and right and straight ahead! Each day brought a gift of changing light to color the lake and mountains in various shades and tones of blues, pinks, greens, grays, yellows, purples. Be sure to have plenty of storage on your camera or camera phone because you will want to photograph every morning and every evening's daily veils of color!
The apartment's owners met us upon arrival, communicated extensively all along the way, and were perfect hosts even leaving a large fruit plate, waters, and a special bottle of wine from the owner's own vineyard for us! We felt like very special guests and did our best to treat their beautiful, pristine home with much respect. Some of the features two female traveler's were especially grateful for was the security of the apartment. We typically entered through the two locked gates going into the garage, then went through a secure door into a private elevator taking us directly into the penthouse apartment with no hallways or other tenants to see. Wonderful!!! Without question, I would recommend this apartment to friends, relatives, or any other traveler who would enjoy being in such delightful surroundings!
I have visited Lake Como numerous times, sometimes staying in a hotel, sometimes renting an apartment, and have stayed in various locations. My favorite has always been Bellagio, but Argegno proved to be a marvelous location, centrally located on the lake, with easy ferry service up and down the lake, well located for driving on the narrow Via Regina, with many good restaurants to try. Highly recommend!!!
Beautiful apartment with exceptional views
My friend and I recently returned from just under 2 weeks stay in this lovely apartment in Argegno. Our visit started with Rudolf and Cecile personally greeting us by the garage and helping us with our luggage. The bountiful fruit and wonderful wine from their own vineyard was such a nice touch and very appreciated. Their apartment was even lovelier than the photos..2 wonderful bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms perfect for us 2 friends or 2 couples. The kitchen and living areas were very beautiful with everything you need- and the outdoor balconies- WOW!!
The outdoor spaces were the perfect spot for early morning coffee or tea and a glass of wine or two at the end of the day- very relaxing! You have your choice of eating at a large table, a glass of wine at a smaller table or relaxing in lovely chaise lounges while being mesmerized by the views.
Argegno was a lovely town to stay in with many restaurants to choose from as well as the ferry all just a short walk away. We did have a car so the garage with direct access via the elevator to the apartment was a great plus!
Argegno is also pretty central to so many lovely towns so was a great location to stay in but quieter than other towns like Bellagio. It's also a much more walkable town as some of the smaller towns nearby do not have the Piazza and waterfront walking areas that Argegno has-all adding to a wonderful and relaxing stay.
We enjoyed staying in a town away from the mass of tourists that you find in Bellagio and Como.
Rudolf and Cecile were the perfect hosts!!
Thank you again!
Would highly recommend a stay in their lovely apartment!
Still as gorgeous as ever
We are two Australian couples in our late 70s. We rented Le Vele in Argegno four years ago. We enjoyed it so much, that we decided to return this year. We had an even better time. Le Vele is a third-floor, pure lakefront, two bedroom, two bathroom, penthouse, with its own deck, as well as a very large living/dining/kitchen space. It is outstandingly comfortable with its own private lift opening into it. There is parking in the secure, basement garage.
Argegno is also an excellent location from which to enjoy Lake Como. It is very well served by both fast and slow ferries between Como and Belagio. We took 6-day passes for the slow ferries. This enabled us to walk the whole of the Greenway del Lago (an absolute must) as well as visiting Bellagio, Varenna, Menagio, Lenno, Tremezzo and Como many times. Taking the local bus service was an alternative option that we used as well. We took the Milan-based Panicucci taxi service from Malpensa Airport to Argegno for Euros 170 (one way) and did not need a car.
There is a weekly Monday market in Argegno (repeated in other lake-front towns on other days) for food, clothing and household items, as well as a small store above the square selling food, drink and household supplies. There are a number of excellent restaurants, of which we grew especially fond of the Bar Ristorante Barchetta, on the square. There is also a fabulous icecream shop on the square.
This exquisitely furnished apartment, overlooking Lake Como, is a pleasure to stay in. The owners, who couldn't be nicer, have paid careful attention to quality and details. Everything works, glides smoothy, and is attractive in a modern but not showy way. The views of the lake are spectacular. The town of Argegno is small and lacks the villas and gardens of the more famous neighboring towns but this makes it quieter and less congested. The apartment provides an extremely comfortable base from which to explore the region's many attractions.
Cecile's warm welcome was only the beginning of one of the most wonderful weeks of our travels. As we approached the apartment, we could see her standing on the patio patiently awaiting our arrival. She opened the gates to the garage where our vehicle would be stored securely for the next week. The elevator from the garage directly into the penthouse was the perfect amenity to accommodate my father-in-law's limited mobility.
Upon entering the apartment, we were amazed at all this place had to offer. We loved the modern decor, but honestly, it was difficult to focus on anything other than the incredible view out of every room. The furniture, including both beds were incredibly comfortable.
We had the pleasure of staying here over the Easter weekend and throughout the next week. Cecile had left us some treats in the kitchen for the holiday - chocolate bunnies and a bottle of their very own wine. We very much enjoyed both!
Rudolf's attention to detail when constructing this home left us wanting for nothing. Despite being right on the roadway at the rear of the house, there was almost no noise from passing vehicles. The ease at which the sliding doors moved and the automatic sun shade functionality are small details which may easily be overlooked, but were very much appreciated. The washer and dryer were the best we have used in Europe.
Both bedrooms and the full-length patio had incredible views of the lake and surrounding mountains. As others have mentioned, we found the church bells next door to be quite charming and added to the ambiance of this incredible apartment. The bells are silent from 10pm until 7am so a full night of uninterrupted sleep was of no concern.
It is a short walk to the center of town with passage through a tunnel under the street which was nice on the busy holiday weekend. There are several great restaurants here with La Piazzetta being our favorite. Chris and his staff were absolutely the best! We dined with them on several occasions during the week and he was even able to seat us early on Easter despite not having a reservation.
Argegno is the perfect location to explore Lake Como and the surrounding communities. Rudolf and Cecile prepared a book with details including sites to see, ferry and funicular timetables and much more.
Thank you Rudolf and Cecile for opening your home to us for this most perfect week in paradise.
