Whitby Villa Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom (incl loft)/ 2 bath with amazing beach & ocean views

Conch Cottage is a beautiful villa set in a tropical oasis. It has an open floor plan that feels open, airy, and spacious. All the comforts of home are here, and it will become a home you'll want to come back to every year. The master bedroom has a Tommy Bahama West Indies California King bed with sliding glass doors that allow you to see the clear turquoise water of the ocean from bed and feel the ocean breeze caress your skin. The second bedroom is spacious with a queen bed and room for a twin pull out. The second story is a loft with a pull out sofa bed, wet bar, and balcony perfect for stargazing. There are two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and laundry room on the main floor of the house. The front patio extends across the complete front of the house allowing you to dine al fresco at the large cocktail table with comfortable chairs, relax in chaise lounges and enjoy a hammock for complete relaxation including a ocean view and sea breeze. The beach is your front yard. It's about 30 steps from the patio to the water. There is also a gazebo placed on the waters edge to enjoy meals, cocktails, sunrises, sunsets, or just to enjoy the shade while watching your family play on the beach. Take a walk along the seemingly endless powder sand beaches, collecting beautiful shells (including conch shells) along the way. It's a private oasis that isn't interrupted by people, traffic, or the hassles of your busy life. It's like being on a deserted island with all the comforts of home.

You will be met at the ferry by Mac who will escort you to the house. You will then be greeted and shown around by the property managers who can answer any questions you may have. They are there to make sure you enjoy your stay. When it's time to leave, Mac will return you to the ferry. There is a cell phone available for your use while you stay at Conch Cottage and internet is provided if you need it.

You can lie in bed and see the beautiful turquoise sea, or you can sit in almost any room in the house, on the large patio, on the upper loft deck or in the gazebo and watch the water change shades of blue and green as the sun shifts through the sky. When you step into the water it's like a gentle caress. It is so clear that you can easily see your toes while standing in chest deep water. The water is incredibly clear for diving and snorkeling. Take a boat ride, paddle a kayak, sail a hobie cat ... there are so many ways to enjoy the water.

Wildlife viewing is plentiful, you don't even have to leave the front porch. There is a brown pelican that 'commutes' each evening at about 5:30 pm. The osprey dive for their meals right in front of the house. And if you're lucky, you can see the pink flamingos fly by. Hundreds of them live at the nearby Flamingo Pond. A sight you must see.

Come hear the waves crash on the distant protective reef that then gently laps the shore, feel the breeze caress your skin, smell the clean air and watch the sunrise or sunset from almost every room in this amazing beach front home. Sit on the large patio, have a cocktail and watch the sun color the sky orange as it sets on the sea. Take a nap in the hammock as the ocean breeze gently rocks you to sleep. You'll never want to leave.

About Denise Jacob

We are a family of four that loves the warm waters of the Caribbean. This is a dream come true to own such a beautiful place on the beach.

Denise Jacob purchased this villa in 2012

Why Denise Jacob chose North Caicos

The turquoise water was love at first sight. To be able to see it out of almost every room is simply amazing. We love the clean, modern lines of the house with an open floor plan that keeps the family together, but with enough room that everyone has their own space. The privacy is a rare thing to find. We love having the beach all to ourselves.

What makes this villa unique

One of our family's favorite thing is to lay in the hammock and sway with the ocean breeze. It's a place to completely relax. The internet is nice, but we find that we don't want to use it when we are there. We are too busy enjoying everything the island has to offer.

Relaxing getaway at beatiful home!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had the perfect anniversary getaway at Conch Cottage. The house delivered on all promises: it had all modern conveniences and was clean, big, and just steps from the Caribbean! The kitchen is fully stocked: no need to take anything but food. Mark, the caretaker, was there to greet us and gave us a thorough introduction to the house and the island. This is the place you want to go if you like privacy. We saw only a handful of people during our week-long stay. We drove to 4 or 5 different stunning beaches on North and Middle, and usually we were the only people in sight. Denise is excellent with her communications. We had a good experience with Virgil's Taxi picking us up at the airport and taking us to stock up on groceries before we caught the ferry. We also recommend Al's Rental Car on North. We took an 8:00 AM flight from Philly and our toes were in the sand by 4:00! We got acquainted with rum punches at the tiki bar just down the beach and forgot about the outside world immediately. (Here is an unexpected bonus: other than going out to eat and/or buying booze, there is really no place on North or Middle to blow your money. This is the first vacation we've ever taken in which we returned with most of our cash!) I highly recommend Conch Cottage!

Beautiful House, Sunrise and Sunset Views

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful, private, relaxing 6 nights at Conch Cottage. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean and all we needed was provided. The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful and easily seen from front porch. We enjoyed walking the beach and found this villa wonderfully located for sightseeing all of North Caicos and Middle Caicos. Grocery shops and restaurants were all nearby. Denise was very responsive and answered any questions immediately. She also gave us great tips on things to do. We particularly liked driving to and spending time at the beautiful beaches on both North & Middle Caicos, i.e., Sandy Point, Three Marys Cays, Bambarra Beach, Mudjin Harbor. Bottle Creek is a beautiful area also. We had great meals at My Dee's and Last Chance Bar and Grill, but there are many other good restaurants also. We had a little rainy weather for part of one or two days, but it did not prevent us from doing what we planned. We would highly recommend this property for older couples, families with older children, and anyone looking for a more secluded property. The ferry ride to and from Provo was very scenic and enjoyable and logistically easy to reserve.

Paradise on Earth

  • 5 of 5

There’s aren’t too many places on earth left where you can completely escape from the fast pace and slow down enough to soak in your surroundings.

At the Conch Cottage, your surroundings are definitely something you are going to want to soak up. In fact, the exquisite blue/green water and beautiful sandy beaches make it seem like you are walking into a magazine cover.

When we were there for a week in the beginning of July for our 10th anniversary, the weather was perfect. It was hot in the mid-day sun, but the fresh ocean breeze was constantly blowing, and the sun felt great after coming out of the water. The water was like bathwater.

This island is definitely the place where you will want to come if you want to completely escape for awhile. It was a really quiet place - which was exactly what we wanted.

The house was very clean and comfortable. It was very well equipped with everything we needed for the week we were there. We bought our perishables/breads in Providenciales (in addition to bringing a lot with us from the States). There is a little store within walking distance of the house that will provide some staple items - roughly 30 - 50% more than we would pay at home. We used the grill several times. We loved the cabana out by the ocean. It was a perfect place to sit in the evening or hottest part of the day. The front porch has great ocean views, and the upstairs deck is a great place to sit in the evening - or to watch falling stars at night.

We loved walking on the beach, and we did a lot of it. Depending on the time of year, there may be some rocks on the beach out front, but when we were there, you could walk a short distance either direction to a clear section of beach. If you walk to the right a little ways, you will get to Horseshoe Beach, which was exceptionally beautiful. If you enjoy photography, there is so many great shots around this place, and other destinations within walking distance. (Check out the cable landings past the pier at Horseshoe Beach). We also went to Middle Caicos one day and went to Mudjin Harbor (make sure you see the hidden stairway through the rocks to the secret beach if you make it here) and visited a couple of the caves in the area.

We definitely hope to come back, but until we do, we made lots of great memories at this place!

An Amazing Place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a crew that stayed in the Conch Cottage! We had grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, son, daughter, aunt and uncle! Our ages ranch from 58 down to 18 months, and the Conch Cottage was perfect for our family. We cooked in 3 nights out of our 5 there, and the kitchen performed admirably!

We particularly loved the secluded beach, especially now that high season is over. It was 2 days before we saw any other visitors to the area! The Barricuda Bar was a great place to get a mid- day refreshment.

Denise is a joy to deal with and is very responsive to any and all requests. Her property manager Mark is also a pleasure to deal with!

If you like gorgeous places off the beaten path, Conch Cottage is the place! My only suggestion is to stay longer than 5 nights like we did! We shall return.

Owner's Response: I am so glad that Conch Cottage worked so well for your large family. It's great to hear about an extended family getting together and enjoy each others company in an amazing setting. It is a great place for family getaways and family reunions. There is enough space for everyone to spread out, but also to all be together enjoying everything the house and property has to offer. Five days is never enough to enjoy this piece of paradise. I appreciate your words of praise and would love to have you back. Remember it's a great family getaway, but it can also be a very romantic couple get away. I'm sure I'll see you soon. That beautiful turquoise water is calling you!

We have been renting houses in Caribbean for many years. This house is perfect for a week long vacation. Simple and clean furnishings, well equipped kitchen, and all the necessities included. We particularly appreciated the beautiful beach and the fabulous sunsets from the second floor deck!

Our five-star review of Conch Cottage actually begins before our departure from the States. TWO DAYS before our intended departure, we discovered Conch Cottage on VRBO. Denise responded promptly to our inquiry, and made it happen within that short time frame.

From our first contact with Denise, she was instantly available by email and even text, and ready to answer every single question we had. At one point, she was sending information while she was on a layover between flights. The information she provided was spot-on, and left us with no surprises. Absolute white-glove treatment from start to finish.

Now to the cottage itself. We were traveling for our anniversary, and when we arrived, Denise had provided a bottle of champagne in the refrigerator. I have nothing much to add to what other guests have said about the house itself. It was spotless, open, bright, and really, truly right on the beach. We spent hours relaxing on the porch.

Keep in mind, North Caicos is not your resort island. It's VERY quiet, very private, and not developed in the sense of having resorts and such. No Zagat rated restaurants, no fine shopping, etc. You are going there for the privilege of walking a mile on a beach without seeing anyone, or to sit on your porch with a good book.

It may take the city-dweller a moment to adjust to the isolation ("is it safe staying all the way out here" you may wonder for about a day or so, before you laugh at yourself for worrying). The grocery stores are not what you're used to at home -- and Denise will warn you -- but in truth I thought we were able to find pretty much everything we needed. In that regard, we found the grocery store right across from the villa was the best stocked.

Denise advised us to pack light. We should have listened. It really is all casual, all the time, everyone on the island. Unless you're traveling to Provo for something, you don't to bring dress-up clothes. We could have gone with one suitcase.

With these things in mind, it seems that this vacation is more for the couple who wants to get away. I don't know that I'd bring kids, but who knows. Don't plan to hop back and forth to Provo, unless you're okay with repeatedly paying $50/person for the ferry (each way), plus $40/person to get to the ferry, plus a rental car or taxi on Provo.

We happened to be there during a windy week. That meant no mosquitoes at all. I think they're around though, so be prepared.

You won't to leave.
