Labor Day at the BEST private cove!! DEFINITELY coming back!

  • 5 of 5

We had two families up here for Labor Day week and had the nicest time! The property is set back from the road across a beautiful meadow, and you get a great view of the lake from the big front deck and upper porches (you see it all from the living/dining rooms too!). The house is a clean, comfy, and roomy duplex with a wide-open downstairs living/kitchen area on the waterfront side that’s perfect for big family meals, and it spills right onto a large deck overlooking the lake. We ate out there every day it wasn’t raining, and it also served as a great reading/play area. The other side of the house overlooks the meadow and has a full kitchen and living area, plus its own private covered back deck. It was so convenient to have two groups up there! Plenty of space if you needed some peace and quiet, and tons of things for the kids to do.

The owners were also super responsive and helpful, which was refreshing. They provided plenty of basic amenities, a bunch of new-seeming Tupperware for leftovers, an awesome grill, tons of dishes, and a bunch of surprisingly high-quality pots and pans (honestly, most of it looked brand new). Everything that didn’t look like it was right out of the box was at least clearly well cared-for over the years.

Also, the waterfront is INCREDIBLE! There’s a huge dock with a covered boat slip that doubles as a sundeck, and probably 100 feet of private lakefront with plenty of sunny AND shady spots. It is in a private cove so you’re completely sheltered from the waves, speedboats, and all the crowds out there on the water – on Labor Day weekend, we were able to swim and float safely in the bay all day long, even though the lake was busier than I’d ever seen. You do share the area with some other owners and the little motel next door, but we hardly saw anyone and since it’s mostly families anyway, it stays pretty quiet and everything shuts down really early.

The house was an absolutely adorable and convenient place to stay. The views are amazing, but the waterfront is where it’s at – there’s so much room, you feel like you’ve got your own private lake. It’s so serene, peaceful, and relaxing!! Now that we know there’s a place on the western shore of the lake that is actually insulated from all the hubbub, we’re definitely coming back here next year!

Dated - property needs attention

  • 3 of 5

Not in the best of shape. Very dated inside and not the cleanest. Ants and wasps inside throughout the week and hot water barely lasts through one single shower on both sides of what is essentially a two apartment house. Both bathrooms are upstairs which was a hassle. Pots and pans, etc need updating and the grill was a mess. Loud partying the whole week from the Villas motel which is just across the street. Would be 2.5 stars but the dock is very nice and convienent as we had a boat there.

Owner's Response: Dear Jeffrey Thanks for your comments. We have replaced the pots and pans and are making some additional updates to our family property. We have a maid service that usually does a great job cleaning. Prior tenants have not complained about wasps or ants so we will look into this as well. Our cove is usually quiet and peaceful and I'm glad you were able to enjoy the dock area.

Beautiful cove on the lake

  • 3 of 5

Many pros, along with a couple cons for this house. First of all the property is beautiful. The land next to the house is open and sunny. Great for games and stuff outside. The setup of the house worked great for a large group with different families having 2 separate "apartments". Having 2 fridges/kitchen areas was great.

As for the Cons: There were no bathrooms on the main floor, there was one on each upstairs area, but none downstairs at all. The appliances were ancient, they worked (slowly) but the stoves were from I think the 50s. I'm all for rustic and old upstate homes but it def needed some TLC. The electric was pretty bad too, we kept blowing fuses. Even the toaster and microwave couldn't be on at the same time.

All in all we had a great time, I would recommend this property but be aware of the quirks.

Wonderful for large groups

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this property. We had a mix of 3 families, and there was so much room we never felt on top of each other. The acreage is huge, especially for the area which was wonderful for the kids to run around. The dock was lovely, you could dive right in or sit upstairs on the beautiful Sun deck. Perfect for any age honestly, the people in our group were between 2 and 40, the teens especially had a great time. We're definitely interested in renting again.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Excellent location. Eight of us. Two apartment house fitted our needs perfectly. We rented a boat for the week from Yankee Boat next door and spent every day at another island or location on the lake. Grandchildren ages 4 and 9 loved the destinations and being towed behind the boat on a large tube. Best locations - Speaker Heck Island ( 1.5 miles); Diamond Island ( 2.5 miles); Commission Point and Paradise Bay. Covered dock a real plus. Able to swim right off the dock in the protected cove. Nothing like boating and swimming with grandchildren !

Beautiful on-the-water, cozy & convenient property!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have been coming to this lake house for years and we plan on coming back for as long as we can! Between the double balconies with stunning views of the lake, the private cove, and the sheer comfort and convenience of the place, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect getaway. The house is spacious and comfortably furnished, and with five bedrooms, it is perfect place to retreat with friends and family. The house is practically on the water – it is a quick 30 second walk from the front porch to the private dock, and the dock is incredible! It looks like the owners recently redid the sundeck – in addition to two boat slips (which get full sun during the morning and afternoon), there is a giant rooftop deck where you can lay out or just enjoy the view and the breeze! The place is perfect for a large group of friends, giant families, or just a cozy weekend away, and the big lawn and shallow swimming area in the cove are just perfect for kids! The property is also really convenient to all the great attractions the area has to offer. It is just a few miles away from both the busy Lake George Village and the cute little town of Bolton, and it is a stone’s throw from the highway which makes day trips a breeze. It is also only fifteen minutes away from the outlets or the mall, so the shopping is great! The people who run the property have always been super accommodating and helpful, and it is always such a no-hassle experience. The bottom line is that we LOVE this house, and the responsiveness and professionalism of the property management makes renting this place as stress free as you can get.
