Bastrop Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom, full bathroom with huge walk in shower, sleeps 6

Beautiful River Front Log Cabin Treehouse with the Colorado River running through the back yard. This newly remodeled 2 bedroom 1300 sq ft cabin has a wrap around upper deck for spectacular views of the river, gas grill; spacious living room with vaulted ceiling; stone gas fireplace; Mayan family indoor/outdoor hammock; Sleeps 6 king and queen bedrooms and very comfortable pull out sofa bed; fully equipped kitchen with all amenities; large bathroom with huge walk-in stone and glass tiled shower; washer/dryer; ping pong table, picnic table and porch swing on downstairs patio; private dock great for fishing and kayaking. Only 2 miles from historic downtown Bastrop; 25 miles from the airport (AUS) and 40 minute drive from Austin. Golfing, kayaking, bicycling, shopping, fishing, live theater, antique shops, farmer's markets.

Beautiful Log Treehouse: We bought this cabin in the summer of 2009 and feel so fortunate to be able to share it with guests and friends and family. All three of our kids (now grown) love coming here to kayak, fish, golf, bird watch, relax and explore with their families. Our cabin is nestled high up in Pecan, Sycamore, Mimosa and Redbud trees. The view from the upper deck is fantastic. Great for bird watching. We hear the owls at night and watch red tailed hawks make nests and raise their babies. We have left the chicken coop standing as some day we hope to retire here and raise a small flock. You can't beat this for a perfect vacation spot whether you're wanting adventure or relaxation.

Most Historic Town in Texas: Bastrop is known as the 'most historic small town in Texas'. Historic Main Street has lots of interesting shops great for hunting antiques, great restaurants, live music in the evenings and a good old down home environment. There are an abundance of parks, several excellent golf courses, places to rent bikes and kayaks, live theater at the Bastrop Opera House and incredible historic homes. We're only 40 minutes from Austin and 30 minutes from the Austin Bergstrom Airport

About Steve Smith and Linda Scott

Steve and I (Linda) live in Austin, TX. Steve has a tile installation business in Austin and I am a counselor. Steve was born in west Texas. I'm from New Jersey but have lived more than half my life in Texas. Our children were all born in Houston. We love Austin and the surrounding area especialy Bastrop and may retire there one day.

Steve Smith and Linda Scott purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Steve Smith and Linda Scott chose Texas Hill Country

We were so lucky to find this incredible cabin on the Colorado River in Bastrop that was previously owned by a friend of my sister. Once we saw how beautiful and peaceful it was we couldn't believe our good luck. We fell in love! It's such an incredible place for our family to gather. We fish, swim, kayak, ride bicycles, play ping pong and, oh yes, completely relax from the stresses of our busy lives.

What makes this cabin unique

The back yard has a private dock where you can sit and fish or launch a small boat or kayak. The cabin is kept immaculately clean. It's so spacious with vaulted ceilings in the living room. The Mayan family hammock is always up inside the cabin but can easily be hooked up on the upper deck. It's hard to find a more peaceful experience than having breakfast or coffee on the deck overlooking the river.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Linda created a warm, clean and welcoming home for our stay. The cabin's kitchen, living room and bedrooms were spacious. We really enjoyed sitting on the dock on the Colorado River to relax. The river banks in April were lush and verdant.

Up in the trees!!

  • 5 of 5

Delightful, up in the trees and all around the deck of the house, I saw a hawk watching the river below. Hammock available to hang indoors or outside. There is a table on the deck for that morning coffee, just be sure to have binoculars handy! The inside was spacious and very efficiently laid out. The kitchen fully equipped to cook anything. Washer and dryer, although no TV, but then why be in touch with all that is going on. Internet is available. The two bedrooms were large, the master bedroom had a king size bed, the other bedroom with a queen bed also had a futon that can sleep 2 more. The single bathroom's shower had stone pebbled flooring, how much cooler can that be to feel like you are standing in a river bed. The walls, floor and ceilings were all in wood paneling. Ceiling fans in both bedrooms and great room. A ping pong table is under the house and you can park your vehicle under the house a good way to keep the car cool. It is a place we would like to return for a quiet weekend getaway.

Great cabin in the trees.

  • 4 of 5

Vary comfortable, clean cabin in the trees, overlooking the river. All fixtures and appliances up to date. No TV, but good wireless internet. We were in the area for a wedding, but had a little time to explore Bastrop. Lovely owners were quick to answer any questions.

Great weekend at the Tree House!

  • 5 of 5

The Tree House cabin was wonderful! Had a girls weekend there with five ladies. There was room for all of us to sleep, and the spacious living room, deck, and dock by the water gave us different places to hang out and catch up. Next time, I'll take my kayak so I can put it in the river from the dock! Just far enough off the beaten path - very relaxing!

Great Family Vacation! Can we live here?!

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for our recent family vacation. Our group included my husband and me, our three college-aged kids, and our 5 year old. We wanted a nice, relaxing place on a river where we could enjoy some family time together before the fall semester started. This place was everything we hoped!

We love to paddle and brought our own canoe and kayaks. It was wonderful to be able to just put the boats in from the dock on the river and take out downstream in the afternoon (also easy to shuttle to). One day we just paddled upstream, swam, and paddled back. Also, all of our kids are part-fish and loved just swimming in the river.

The views of the river are incredible, including from the dining room table, master bedroom, and the balcony. The size of the home was just right for us and everyone loved having a hammock INSIDE the house (especially since it was August in Texas). Our 5 year old wanted to, and did!, sleep in it each night. The kitchen had everything and more! than we expected. We love to cook and ate in all but one nice lunch on Main Street. Two of our daughters even baked cookies one night. And the SHOWER! Our kids were so impressed. Our oldest is 6'5" tall and loved how large the shower was.

The owner, Steve, was readily available by phone for the few minor questions we had. And Linda was always very prompt in responding to my emails. Renting from them was very easy.

We definitely want to come back! And our youngest one wants to know if she can live there. Linda and Steve, thank you for allowing us to share your wonderful place in Bastrop. It is simply beautiful.
