Beautiful Log Treehouse: We bought this cabin in the summer of 2009 and feel so fortunate to be able to share it with guests and friends and family. All three of our kids (now grown) love coming here to kayak, fish, golf, bird watch, relax and explore with their families. Our cabin is nestled high up in Pecan, Sycamore, Mimosa and Redbud trees. The view from the upper deck is fantastic. Great for bird watching. We hear the owls at night and watch red tailed hawks make nests and raise their babies. We have left the chicken coop standing as some day we hope to retire here and raise a small flock. You can't beat this for a perfect vacation spot whether you're wanting adventure or relaxation.
Most Historic Town in Texas: Bastrop is known as the 'most historic small town in Texas'. Historic Main Street has lots of interesting shops great for hunting antiques, great restaurants, live music in the evenings and a good old down home environment. There are an abundance of parks, several excellent golf courses, places to rent bikes and kayaks, live theater at the Bastrop Opera House and incredible historic homes. We're only 40 minutes from Austin and 30 minutes from the Austin Bergstrom Airport
Steve and I (Linda) live in Austin, TX. Steve has a tile installation business in Austin and I am a counselor. Steve was born in west Texas. I'm from New Jersey but have lived more than half my life in Texas. Our children were all born in Houston. We love Austin and the surrounding area especialy Bastrop and may retire there one day.
Steve Smith and Linda Scott purchased this cabin in 2009
We were so lucky to find this incredible cabin on the Colorado River in Bastrop that was previously owned by a friend of my sister. Once we saw how beautiful and peaceful it was we couldn't believe our good luck. We fell in love! It's such an incredible place for our family to gather. We fish, swim, kayak, ride bicycles, play ping pong and, oh yes, completely relax from the stresses of our busy lives.
The back yard has a private dock where you can sit and fish or launch a small boat or kayak. The cabin is kept immaculately clean. It's so spacious with vaulted ceilings in the living room. The Mayan family hammock is always up inside the cabin but can easily be hooked up on the upper deck. It's hard to find a more peaceful experience than having breakfast or coffee on the deck overlooking the river.
Linda created a warm, clean and welcoming home for our stay. The cabin's kitchen, living room and bedrooms were spacious. We really enjoyed sitting on the dock on the Colorado River to relax. The river banks in April were lush and verdant.
Great House and property. Pretty secluded. Nice quiet relaxing place to stay. A+++
I'm so glad that we started out from the RGV to the Tree House so that we arrived while it was still daylight out. When you are unfamiliar with the roads, the twists and turns to the Tree House can be a challenge. But, we found it. And, it was a great space, relaxing atmosphere, and well-stocked with everything we could possibly need. That's also because we brought our own wine! What would have made it slightly better is the weather being cold out so that we could use the fireplace. We used the Tree House as our home base while we ventured to Round Top/Warrenton for the Antique Festival. It was a 40 minute drive there but it was a nice time to eat breakfast in the morning and/or unwind from the long day. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves the entire weekend. Thank you for sharing your home.
My wife and I were blessed enough to find this place available for a last-minute Labor Day weekend trip. When I booked it I wasn't expecting much and I didn't have a lot of time to search so I just took it since it was one of the few properties still available. We have stayed at lots of VRBO properties and B & B's through the years, but I can truly say this was one of the most pleasantly surprising. When you pull up, the outside doesn't prepare you for what you'll find inside. As soon as you walk in you are smacked in the face with the incredible aroma of wood and the beauty of the interior. I was expecting a run-down river cabin, but not this place! It is SUPER clean and neat and not overly personalized as some properties can be (making visitors feel a little weird), yet it was still very homey. The kitchen was large and well stocked with everything you need for your visit. The bedrooms were quite large and the living room was also a great size with a beautiful fire place. The bathroom looks almost brand new and the shower is gorgeous. The house is the perfect size for 2 or 6. Of course, the main attraction is the water and the views did not disappoint! The upper deck offers a beautiful view of the river and it is well covered and has plenty of shade to provide a respite from the heat. The neighbors are not out of sight, but they aren't uncomfortably close and we honestly never saw anyone all weekend besides the people floating the river. My wife and I spent lots of time enjoying coffee and a breeze while taking in the beauty of the property. While this river house does not have TV or cable, it does have great high-speed internet and we were able to stream a couple of movies at night (we love watching movies on the couch:-). The only constructive criticism I would have about the property is that there should be some kind of pathway down to the water. It appeared that all of the owners land leading to the water was overgrown with no way to go to the water's edge. Since the river is the main attraction, it seemed like a bit of a waste. Other than that, this place was absolutely amazing and allowed us to enjoy a quiet weekend away from it all. Bastrop is a great little town with a lot to offer and this river house is the perfect place to spend your visit!
Delightful, up in the trees and all around the deck of the house, I saw a hawk watching the river below. Hammock available to hang indoors or outside. There is a table on the deck for that morning coffee, just be sure to have binoculars handy! The inside was spacious and very efficiently laid out. The kitchen fully equipped to cook anything. Washer and dryer, although no TV, but then why be in touch with all that is going on. Internet is available. The two bedrooms were large, the master bedroom had a king size bed, the other bedroom with a queen bed also had a futon that can sleep 2 more. The single bathroom's shower had stone pebbled flooring, how much cooler can that be to feel like you are standing in a river bed. The walls, floor and ceilings were all in wood paneling. Ceiling fans in both bedrooms and great room. A ping pong table is under the house and you can park your vehicle under the house a good way to keep the car cool. It is a place we would like to return for a quiet weekend getaway.
This waterfront cabin was ideal for our family weekend retreat. We were extremely pleased with the cleanliness of the house and the beauty of the property. Linda and Steve were prompt to respond to our inquiries and the entire rental process was hassle-free. We would definitely return.
The cabin was wonderful. Everything we needed was provided and very clean. Our stay was very relaxing and fun. We were close to activities for our grandchildren and they loved watching the sunrise and sunset on the river. Thank you.
