BEACHRONT. PRIVATE JETTED POOL. FREE WIFI. NEWLY REMODELED KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS!
Villa Las Olas is one of four beachfront homes in a secluded and secure development of 40 privately-owned homes. A private, jetted pool, Italian stone and wood patio, and 'next to the forest' location (end villa) distinguishes Villa Las Olas for its luxury and its privacy. At the same time, our home provides everything you need for a comfortable and easy stay. Its spacious dimensions provide ample room for larger groups, but are still intimate enough for traveling twosomes. Two of the three generously sized bedrooms are ocean-front, which makes our set-up ideal for more than one couple. The newly remodeled (April 2015) and fully equipped kitchen provides options for meals and entertaining, and the convenience of a full-size washer and dryer is great for families with children and for adults who travel light. The three light-filled newly remodeled bathrooms are all ceramic with high end fixtures and finishes, remodeled completely in October 2016. Furnishings are fresh and tropical, but also practical and child-worthy. Beach towels and beach toys are provided!
The villa is air-conditioned (mini-splits in each of the bedroom for individual control), and each room has screens and an overhead fan to enjoy the pleasant ocean breezes and sounds of this tropical paradise.
The master bedroom has King bed, a balcony with rocking chairs that overlooks the ocean, full closet, cable television and an attached private full bath. The second bedroom is also ocean front, and has two full beds, cable television, a dresser and full closet. It is a large and airy room. The third bedroom has two twin beds that can convert to a king, a dresser, space for the infant 'Pack and Play' bed and changing table, cable television, and a garden view.
The main level has a very open lay-out with French doors to the pool and beach from both the living room and the dining room. The living room includes a comfortable sleeper sofa, two matching chairs, and cable television. The dining room seats six. The newly remodeled and fully-equipped kitchen is spacious, airy and well lit. It includes a breakfast 'bar' that seats four, french door refrigerator with ice maker, cook top, built-in oven, dishwasher and microwave. All appliances are stainless steel and manufactured by KitchenAid and GE. Directly off the kitchen is the laundry with a full washer and dryer, an iron and ironing board, and a safe for your valuables.
Whale-watching, world class fishing and diving, as well as good old wave bobbing, snorkeling and boogey boarding, are available just steps from the pool and patio of our home. The sea provides constant entertainment, be it the delight of seeing silver rays fly out of the water and whales breech or, closer in, watching brown pelicans dive for their lunch. Our kids loved the lively tide pools and making temporary pets of hermit crabs. We love sitting on our deck overlooking the sea with our morning Costa Rican coffee, and waiting for the green flash as the evening sun sinks below the horizon.
Our on-site concierge is available to help you make arrangements for your Costa Rican adventures. Ziplining, hot springs, wildlife tours and cloud forest visits are popular, but don’t forget the cooking schools, horseback rides, paddle-boarding and beach-side massages! Of course, you never need to leave home for the best snorkeling around – it’s right outside your door! So is the best food in the area. The romantic and open-air beachside setting of the our restaurant is the perfect backdrop for its delicious, innovative and beautifully presented selection of North American and Costa Rican dishes. And our chefs are happy to deliver your meals to the villa and to prepare your catch after a long day of fishing!
If yours is a working vacation, fear not. FREE WIRELESS BROADBAND is available throughout our home AND the outdoor patio, and cellular service is exceptional. Our reception office can assist with basic office needs. No one will know you have escaped to paradise.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT MAINTAIN OUR CALENDAR ON LINE. You may receive an automated response from VRBO saying our home is available. Please do not make plans until we respond. We endeavor to get back to all inquirers within an hour! We apologize for this inconvenience and potential confusion, but it is important for the security of our home in Costa Rica and home in Minnesota.
We're a recently retired couple who visited this property with our children over spring break for more than 10 consecutive years. Our children always insisted it was better than Disney and better than Hawaii! Now that we have more time to spend in Paradise, we bought and hope to keep making memories with our adult children.
LaRaye purchased this house in 2014
We love what the property offers -- beautiful ebony beach with fantastic swimming, snorkeling and tide-pooling; professional and friendly staff; great food in a romantic setting; wonderful pools; a casual vibe; and close proximity to the fun town of Coco and the new airport.
Beach front spacious two level home with a private jetted infinity pool and access to the development's two additional pool complexes. On-site concierge, restaurant, and 24-hour security staff caters to all our needs as if we were family. Fishing boat and dive tour operators pick us up on the beach in front of our home! But mainly, we enjoy the unique serenity and privacy of the resort and our home's location -- while the fun beach town of Coco is just three miles away if we want more action!
We had a fantastic 10 day family vacation at Laraye's villa with our 3 kids (ages 3, 7 &10). An ocean front villa with an ocean front private pool can't be beat. The kids enjoyed both the pool and ocean immensely. The forest side of the villa provided howler monkey viewings. Kids loved that too. The villa is perfectly comfortable and the recent updates are beautiful. Felt like we were still in the US when in the home. Great appliances, A/C in all rooms, drink the water, etc. And the owner is great - super responsive and gives you all the information you could possibly need. This was a change from our typical vacation (Caribbean) and we loved it. We did two fantastic private excursions (Borinquen & Palo Verde) with Manny Fennel of Eco Journeys. See review on TripAdvisor. And don't miss the pizza at La Caveja in Playas del Coco. We highly recommend this villa. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Laraye, for sharing your home. This was our best family vacation yet.
Went with group of friends, but have also already suggested the property to several families. I've been to Costa Rica several times and this truly is a unique property. The updated bathrooms and well stocked kitchen make it one of a kind. Completely agree with the review of Michael F. Really enjoyed the privacy of being on the edge of the resort, and visits from the monkeys. Also loved being able to snorkle just off the resort beach.
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly! The villa is beautiful and could not have been in a better location. The villa had all the amenities we could have wanted, and the private pool was a big plus (especially for our two children ages 4 and 7). The villa is on the ocean, on a swimmable/snorkel-able sandy beach and is a twenty second walk from the resort pool/restaurant. We had monkeys right outside the villa multiple days (morning and late afternoon). Of the maybe 40 villas in the resort, this is the BEST unit, and the resort feels very safe and secure. I would recommend this villa for families, couples, romantic getaway, adventurers, etc! It is roughly 40 minutes from the Liberia airport, and transportation was $50 each way. The reception (Cesar & Jackie) was very helpful in arranging for transportation, planning activities, etc. We did not rent a car, but would recommend that you will be fine with or without renting a car. It is a toss up since hiring a driver for the day is only $100 or a taxi ride to town is $10 (each way), and we did not need transportation everyday since we spent a few of our days enjoying the resort (it was great that they had a restaurant on site, and Father Rooster's just down the street was of favorite place to eat). We found everything in Costa Rica to be very inexpensive except for food (whether eating out or grocery shopping). Having toured the entire area on our stay and having seen the other resort options, we were very happy be stayed at Bahia Pez Vela. We highly recommend and would love to come back and stay in this villa again! Also worth noting is that the American owner was very friendly and easy to work with, and she provided some great notes on activities, arrival, departure, etc. Thank you!
This was our first time using VRBO, and it couldn't have been better. LaRaye's Villa is amazing, and she walked us through everything. She responded to emails almost immediately, and checked in with us frequently.
We loved having a private pool. We also enjoyed snorkeling right off the beach and exploring the tide pools. The Villa was clean and comfortable, with plenty of room for our party of 6 (three adults and three children ages 13, 11 and 9). The newly remodeled kitchen is great for cooking in, as well as eating or just sitting at the peninsula counter. The wifi worked well, which our kids were appreciative of.
At Cesar's recommendation, we did an Adventure Tour to Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, which was about an hour and a half away. It included white water tubing (and it really was white water--they had had a lot of rain, so the river was high), zip-lining, horseback riding, and hot springs. We had a great time.
Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. The grocery store in town had everything we needed, and it was very clean. We decided not to rent a car this trip. If we go back (and we hope to!), we will rent a car so that we can explore the area more. A taxi into town was $10 each way.
We knew we were going during the rainy season, and that certainly was true. It rained every day, usually in the afternoon. On the plus side, everything was very green and lush. We had plenty of books and movies to keep us entertained.
We saw lots of wildlife right at outside our door. The birds and butterflies were plentiful. We saw a pack of at least 10 howler monkeys pass by one morning. There were crabs on the beach, and our boys loved watching them. We also had a racoon (we named him Carl), who visited us multiple times a day. We were very careful not to leave food outside unattended.
We booked early and I’m glad we did as we were able to stay for 13 days. This Villa is absolute heaven plus it is just steps from the beach. LaRaye was very easy to work with and stayed in contact and sent notes for all things covering the trip to Costa Rica and the villa. The notes were very detail and spot on with recommendations and things to do. The villa has its own pool with therapeutic jets and lights for night time swimming. The villa has everything you will need you just need to add the food and your set. The resort has a very nice pool and restaurant. The resort pool was never crowded and if you don’t feel like cooking the resorts restaurant has excellent food and was never crowded. Cesar the on-site concierge was very helpful in arranging taxis or setting up deep sea fishing for us. He checked on us a few times to see if we needed anything and helped with getting boarding passes printed. We chose not to rent a car as people walk in the streets but a 10 dollar taxi ride took you to all the stores and Coco which worked out for us just fine. We snorkeled right by the rocks on the left of the cove and saw all kinds of fish. The Howler monkeys came right by the villa in the trees and unless you know what they sound like, they could be kind of scary. Fortunately we had the best tour guide Manny form Costa Rica Eco Journeys http://guanacastejourneys.com/#_=_ who showed us the howler monkeys earlier and explained all about them so we were watching for them in the trees by the villa. Also if you would like a massage in LaRaye’s notes is information for Betty, I had the best massage I have ever had on the beach. It was so good we had her come back the following week. The villa has Wi-Fi which worked fine but during the second week the modem stopped working. We called Cesar and he got right on it and informed LaRaye. The Wi-Fi was up and running the next day and LaRaye sent us a $50.00 gift certificate for the inconvenience for the resort restaurant. This was very much appreciated but not necessary as it was not that big of a interruption. But this is the kind of person LaRaye is, you will be working with a very thoughtful person. I cannot say enough positive things about this resort or Villa #4 we had a great time and plan on coming back.
We stayed at the villa for seven nights and we were so disappointed we were not able to book it for our entire 11 night stay. It's exactly like described and the pictures are a good reflection of the villa, very clean. We loved it here and would definitely go back again. The private pool was great as it was pretty hot some days and was nice to be able to cool off right on the deck. Cesar and the others were great at helping us navigate around, rent paddle boards and book excursions. We went on the all day excursion that included zip lining, horseback riding, lunch buffet, tubing the river and finished with the hot springs. It was pretty awesome. The villa had all the amenities you'll need. We had the shuttle van stop at the grocery store on our way from the airport when we first arrived. I would suggest you email Cesar ahead of time to request airport pick up and drop off. The community pool is really great too. It was not very crowded when we were there. The restaurant/bar located on the premises was nice too, we had read not so good reviews, but we thought it was good. If you want to try snorkeling we found the area right off the beach north of the villa where the rocks gut out into the water was a great place. We rented paddle boards for $50/day and they brought them right to the villa. The water is pretty calm in the cove area so paddle boarding was fun even for beginners. The howler monkeys gather in the trees right outside around the back pool area. Scared us at first as they sounded like a howling monster of some sort. The raccoons are pretty brave, coming around every night wandering the pool area, so just be aware. The process for booking and paying for the rental was flawless and LaRaye was great at keeping in touch.
This is a secluded and very secure development of only 40 homes. The very private ebony beach provides world class snorkeling, calm waters for swimming, and fascinating tide pools that are full of sea life. The grounds are immaculate and feature a large grassy lawn between the villa and the beach, beautifully maintained blooming shrubs and flowers, and mature trees. The wildlife is abundant -- howler monkeys frequently munch the leaves from the trees in front of the villa, green parakeets chatter as they dart from one tree to another, blue green mot mots show off frequently, and the occasional blue jay, iguana and gecko can be spotted. If you can tear yourself away from the beach and your private pool, the nearby town of Coco is lively, fun and safe. Golf at Papagayo Golf in Sardinal, or go a bit further to Hacienda Pinillas or the Four Seasons. Spend a half day deep sea fishing and bring yellow fin tuna, grouper and snapper home to the chef at the property's on-site restaurant for special treatment. Great diving is can be arranged in Coco, as can sail boat and catamaran adventures. Venture inland to Volcan Arenal or Rincon de la Vieja and take in ziplines, volcanic mud baths and hot springs, white water rafting and horseback rides in the high country. Drive the 'Monkey Trail' to beaches to the south, including Ostional for early morning turtle hatching or Avellana and Negra for their surfing. All this within 25 minutes of the airport!
