Lake Buchanan House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, sleeps 8 maximum

Blue Haven Lake Home is the perfect place to unwind and get away from the stresses of everyday life. When you are at Blue Haven, you will feel like you have access to your own private lake. Blue Haven Lake House is located on the arm of the Colorado River so even during times of drought, there will always be water.

The Master Bedroom has a private bath, California king bed, a queen-sized sleeper sofa and a view of the lake. Guest Bedroom has two twin beds, a bunk bed and a private half-bath.

The Front Living Area has a working fireplace, TV/Blue Ray player, queen-sized sleeper sofa.

The Back Living Area has a full bath attached, queen-sized sleeper sofa, great views of the lake.

Kitchen is fully stocked with all pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, toaster and microwave. Also provided are dishes and dish towels. Refrigerator usually has basic condiments. Pantry usually has basic items: salt, pepper, seasonings.

Back porch has two grills.

Renters have use of a canoe and kayak.

Blue Haven Rental Home is located very close to the Canyon of the Eagles where eagles are known to be seen searching for a meal from the lake.

Paradise Point is less than a mile away and currently charges only $5 to use the boat ramp and park your vehicle for the day. Paradise Point can be used when the lake elevation is above 994 feet.

A floating dock is on the premises, so it would be easy to dock your boat right in front of the house during your stay. There are life vests available to use.

***Blue Haven is a Non-Smoking Home both inside and outside the home.

***Although we are huge animal lovers and have our own pets, they are not allowed at Blue Haven. We want Blue Haven to be available for those with pet allergies.

Blue Haven’s maximum capacity is 8 people, there is a fee per additional person per night.

About Denise Ward

We are a family of four, but since our oldest daughter is in college and the youngest daughter is a year a way from being in college, we are almost 'empty-nesters'. We live an hour and a half away from the house, so we try to spend time there as much as we can.

Denise Ward purchased this house in 2010

Why Denise Ward chose Lake Buchanan

We bought this property because we love the view, the size of the home and the fact that when we are there, we can truly leave our hectic lives behind. We loved the homey feel of the house with the old knotty pine siding in the original rooms. The house needed some TLC, but as a family we had fun cleaning, painting and decorating. Our neighbors are the best and we love spending time with them when we are at the house.

What makes this house unique

We absolutely love the back porch. The breeze always seems to be blowing, so it is always pleasant to sit out on the porch and just unwind.

A perfect combo of fun and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a place to get away on very short notice. Denise, the owner, responded quickly and was so accommodating in helping us to finalize our plans. She gave us wonderfully detailed information on how to get to the house, as well as entry info. (They've made it very easy.) The home was meticulously clean, the furniture was incredibly comfortable (my husband is still raving about naps on one of their sofas), and the bed was perfect (an area where I'm VERY difficult to please!). The house is well appointed with everything a lake house should have, and then some. The backyard is very large, and well fenced, making it very safe, the deck has been designed so that it has shade when you need it. There are several tables to choose from on the patio, and lake access is immediate! They have a wonderful floating dock perfect for swimming off of, fishing, sunning, etc. We were just a couple, but it would be absolutely perfect for a large family, or if your kids are like mine were, they take friends everywhere, and this would be such a fun place to call home for a week or so. They had a kayak and canoe ready for our use, numerous water “toys” (boogie boards, floats, etc.), as well as hammocks and really comfortable chairs on the deck. We spent our first night stargazing, and it was glorious! We had taken our newly purchased stand-up paddle boards and decided to use the boat ramp (Paradise Point) to put them into the water. That's when we discovered the Cafe at the fishing camp there. Quite possibly the best cheeseburger ever! The owners also thoughtfully warned us that due to lack of actual grocery stores nearby, the prices at the local “convenience” stores can be quite high, and if there were things we knew we would want either food or drink wise, it would be far more economical to bring them from home, or at the very least, stop at a grocery story in the last (somewhat larger) town you travel through. I LOVE anyone who is considerate enough to help me look after the bottom line!

I would not only recommend this property, but am hopeful that we are able to use it again in the future!

Very country

  • 3 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The two negatives is the lake was 30ft low and the master bath shower was so very small. A grown person has a hard time showering in there for sure! We loved the area. Very peaceful! We loved the hummingbirds too!!

Owner's Response: Priscilla, I am so glad you enjoyed staying at our lake house. I agree, it is very peaceful there. I know what you are talking about with the master bath. That shower is small. My husband loves it because the shower head is up so high and he is tall. I don't know why the previous owner installed such a small shower, but then again, I don't get many things that they did. :) I just use the other bathroom. I am glad you enjoyed the hummingbirds. I was hoping the feeders didn't run out of food by the time you got there. I love watching 6-7 fight over the feeders. Thanks for being great guests, Denise Ward

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place to stay! Denise is so easy to work with, everything she helped us with worked out. She notified us ahead of time that the water was too low to access from their house, and she provided us with several wonderful options. We had our ATVs with us and were able to ride those on nearby trails and had a blast! The house has every amenity available. The one thing I'd recommend is that you take an air mattress to put on the sleeper sofa, because they are not comfortable. We were prepared, and so everything worked out great. We hope to come here again soon, and we are hoping that the lake will be full again very soon. This place would be absolutely heaven with the water up next to the dock! Great vacation and a wonderful value.

Owner's Response: I am SO glad you had such a great time. I was worried when Thursday was so rainy and Friday was overcast. I think bringing your ATVs was the best idea! I also really enjoyed your very creative journal entry (in our guest book). I don't know who wrote that, but it was so creative! I love it!! I hope you will want to come back soon. Denise Ward

Nice place to stay at

  • 3 of 5

Nice place, quite and plenty of room. We were 5 adults and 2 small children. We brought a lot of stuff for our 4 day stay which we didn't even need because the house is well stocked.

Now for the not so good stuff, water level was very low, we didn't use the water behind the house for fear of sneaks we might encounter in the trek to the waters edge, we found a nice beach at a county park about 20 minutes drive away that worked well. Scorpions in the house. Very uncomfortable sofa sleeper. We unfortunately needed wifi for some paper work and had to go to Burnet, no basic tv, extremely bad cell phone service, bathroom shower drain was gross and leaked all over the floor.

But to me the worset part was the 10am check out time. By the time we loaded everything and went thru the checklist we didn't have time to eat breakfast or take a shower. Most of these issues are easy fixes so I'm sure they will be.

Not trying to be negative, just being honest.

Owner's Response: I am so sad that your stay wasn't what you had hoped. I apologize for not preparing you enough for what you might experience. Lake living often includes scorpions. I keep asking our pest control company to "control" the scorpions but they seem to control us! Yes, the sleeper sofa is definitely not the best bed in the house. I had to sleep on it recently and I know what you mean. I am still not able to afford providing wi-fi or cable. There are times that it is frustrating, but we tend to live a more laid back, "away from it all" type of life when we are there. I am so glad you told me that the shower in the master bath leaked! My husband finally took the time needed and fixed the problem. I am also sorry that we did not communicate better regarding the checkout time. When you emailed me, asking me what time the check out time was, I believe I responded with 10am since that is what the contract says. If you had let me know that you needed more time I would have been able to be flexible, but I just didn't understand what you needed. So sorry that your time was not as fabulous as I had hoped it would be. Denise Ward

What a relaxing, comfortable cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at the Blue Haven, and it matched our first visit for comfort, relaxation, and peacefulness! There were four couples staying here these past four days, and we all slept comfortably, sat comfortably, ate comfortably. The "Golden Girls" reunion was a wonderful success here. Denise, you are so easy to work with, and you have everything we needed here! The gift basket was perfect, too. Thank you for everything, we will be back again!!!
