Blue Haven’s maximum capacity is 8 people.
We are a family of four, but since our oldest daughter is in college and the youngest daughter is a year a way from being in college, we are almost 'empty-nesters'. We live an hour and a half away from the house, so we try to spend time there as much as we can.
Denise Ward purchased this house in 2010
We bought this property because we love the view, the size of the home and the fact that when we are there, we can truly leave our hectic lives behind. We loved the homey feel of the house with the old knotty pine siding in the original rooms. The house needed some TLC, but as a family we had fun cleaning, painting and decorating. Our neighbors are the best and we love spending time with them when we are at the house.
We absolutely love the back porch. The breeze always seems to be blowing, so it is always pleasant to sit out on the porch and just unwind.
We had a really great time here with our 5-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter. The home was very comfortable, and there was so much to do with the lake and docks behind the home, and with Fall Creek winery and Rolling H café nearby. Our kids spent hours jumping off the floating dock and loved sleeping in the bunk bed room. This house has everything you need for a relaxing time away, and the owner was very responsive and helpful.
This place was amazing! It had everything we needed (except food), and there were plenty of water toys to keep my boys busy. When they had enough sun, the boys went inside and played with the large variety of board games.
The house is close to plenty of attractions and georgeous scenery. Tons of wildlife to see!
We will definitely be back!
This was my first time using VRBO and my first vacation in ages. I planned a surprise weekend trip to Blue Haven for my boyfriend in celebration of his birthday. Denise made the process incredibly easy by giving me a call regarding the booking to sort out arrival/departure times and then emailing all the details. The home was very clean and the view was amazing. There was a lot of space for just two of us and I can see it being a great place for families. We used the canoe both days (definitely bring water shoes!), I caught up on some fun reading via swinging in one of Denise's hammocks and also in the window seat when I needed a break from the heat, we played games we brought (though there were plenty supplied as well), and we cooked all of our meals. The home had even more appliances and cookware than my permanent home, so it made things very easy. There aren't any nearby restaurants, but we did go to the Torr Na Lochs winery which was definitely worth the 20 min or so drive just for the views. It was such a relaxing, fun time. I would love to come again and definitely recommend it!
We were looking for a place to get away on very short notice. Denise, the owner, responded quickly and was so accommodating in helping us to finalize our plans. She gave us wonderfully detailed information on how to get to the house, as well as entry info. (They've made it very easy.) The home was meticulously clean, the furniture was incredibly comfortable (my husband is still raving about naps on one of their sofas), and the bed was perfect (an area where I'm VERY difficult to please!). The house is well appointed with everything a lake house should have, and then some. The backyard is very large, and well fenced, making it very safe, the deck has been designed so that it has shade when you need it. There are several tables to choose from on the patio, and lake access is immediate! They have a wonderful floating dock perfect for swimming off of, fishing, sunning, etc. We were just a couple, but it would be absolutely perfect for a large family, or if your kids are like mine were, they take friends everywhere, and this would be such a fun place to call home for a week or so. They had a kayak and canoe ready for our use, numerous water “toys” (boogie boards, floats, etc.), as well as hammocks and really comfortable chairs on the deck. We spent our first night stargazing, and it was glorious! We had taken our newly purchased stand-up paddle boards and decided to use the boat ramp (Paradise Point) to put them into the water. That's when we discovered the Cafe at the fishing camp there. Quite possibly the best cheeseburger ever! The owners also thoughtfully warned us that due to lack of actual grocery stores nearby, the prices at the local “convenience” stores can be quite high, and if there were things we knew we would want either food or drink wise, it would be far more economical to bring them from home, or at the very least, stop at a grocery story in the last (somewhat larger) town you travel through. I LOVE anyone who is considerate enough to help me look after the bottom line!
I would not only recommend this property, but am hopeful that we are able to use it again in the future!
We really enjoyed our stay. The two negatives is the lake was 30ft low and the master bath shower was so very small. A grown person has a hard time showering in there for sure! We loved the area. Very peaceful! We loved the hummingbirds too!! 😄
This is a wonderful place to stay! Denise is so easy to work with, everything she helped us with worked out. She notified us ahead of time that the water was too low to access from their house, and she provided us with several wonderful options. We had our ATVs with us and were able to ride those on nearby trails and had a blast! The house has every amenity available. The one thing I'd recommend is that you take an air mattress to put on the sleeper sofa, because they are not comfortable. We were prepared, and so everything worked out great. We hope to come here again soon, and we are hoping that the lake will be full again very soon. This place would be absolutely heaven with the water up next to the dock! Great vacation and a wonderful value.
Our property is located near the small town of Tow, Texas, which is surrounded by Lake Buchanan. The lake is great for fisherman, water skiers and boaters, and also offers a large sandy island (Shaw Island) perfect for afternoon picnics.
