Renters have use of a canoe and kayak.
Blue Haven Rental Home is located very close to the Canyon of the Eagles where eagles are known to be seen searching for a meal from the lake.
A floating dock is on the premises, so it would be easy to dock your boat right in front of the house during your stay. There are life vests available to use.
***Blue Haven is a Non-Smoking Home both inside and outside the home.
***Although we are huge animal lovers and have our own pets, they are not allowed at Blue Haven. We want Blue Haven to be available for those with pet allergies.
Blue Haven’s maximum capacity is 8 people.
We are a family of four, but since our oldest daughter is in college and the youngest daughter is a year a way from being in college, we are almost 'empty-nesters'. We live an hour and a half away from the house, so we try to spend time there as much as we can.
Denise Ward purchased this house in 2010
We bought this property because we love the view, the size of the home and the fact that when we are there, we can truly leave our hectic lives behind. We loved the homey feel of the house with the old knotty pine siding in the original rooms. The house needed some TLC, but as a family we had fun cleaning, painting and decorating. Our neighbors are the best and we love spending time with them when we are at the house.
We absolutely love the back porch. The breeze always seems to be blowing, so it is always pleasant to sit out on the porch and just unwind.
We had a great stay. Clean, quiet, everything was thought of just as the other reviewers have shared. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend to others. Thanks Denise and Ken for making your home available!
What a wonderful place to getaway ,pictures don't do it justice of how spacious this place is. Denise has everything possible to make your stay the best, even down to nice cozy blankets that hang through the house that you can grab and cuddle up with. Plenty of beds and sleeper sofas to accommodate all. The lake was perfect and the kids loved the floating dock to fish off of. They also had a canoe and kayak and lots of life jackets for us to use as well. We also played lots of board games that Denise has here from cards, scrabble,Uno just to mention a few of the ones we enjoyed. I could just go on and on how much we loved this place! So if you're ever looking for that perfect getaway spot "Blue Haven" is your place😊
This is the first time we had spent time during the summer on Lake Buchanan. With the end of the drought in Central Texas, the variable lakes (Lake Buchanan and Lake Travis) are at capacity, so it was a great time to check out the lakes once again. Blue Haven turned out the perfect spot to stay and explore the quieter side of this massive lake. We really enjoyed the getaway experience without the long drive from Austin.
The family and I spent five days here, and Denise had the place ready to go, and we could not have asked for a more ideal vacation stay experience. As far as vacation houses are concerned, Blue Haven had pretty much everything we needed - all the little things like washer/dryer to kitchen accessories to choice of grills, etc. - that are often overlooked conveniences that may not be provided by the rental owner. Needless to say, there was little for want during the stay, that was not thoughtfully available. Kudos to Denise and family for really providing an relaxing, stress-free vacation experience.
As indicated in the listing and other reviews, the only thing really lacking is food. Make sure to bring it with you. The local convenience stores are expensive. We did make a few trips to Kingsland to the H.E.B. there (about 25 mins away), so it was not too bad, but definitely best to plan and bring the food with you.
Per the owner's recommendation, we rented a boat from Splash Rentals from Kingsland. They brought the boat to the Llano County Park boat ramp, and from there, it was nice cruise back to Blue Haven and the floating dock where we kept the boat overnight. We did not boat over the weekend, but overall, the lake huge lake makes for plenty of room to ski/wakeboard without feeling crowded like you do in some of the other Highland Lakes.
We did not use the kayak or canoe, but those were added bonuses to our stay. Regardless, there were plenty of boating/skiing accessories available to us (including new life jackets purchased by the owners in preparation for our stay), and sundry flotation devices, swim goggles, chairs, etc.
If you want to be lazy, relax on the wonderful deck, make 'smores, and watch the stars, this is a perfect place to do it. Vacations often create their own stresses, but you would be hard put to find a reason why here. Thanks Denise for a wonderful stay. We will, for sure, be back!
We had a really great time here with our 5-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter. The home was very comfortable, and there was so much to do with the lake and docks behind the home, and with Fall Creek winery and Rolling H café nearby. Our kids spent hours jumping off the floating dock and loved sleeping in the bunk bed room. This house has everything you need for a relaxing time away, and the owner was very responsive and helpful.
This place was amazing! It had everything we needed (except food), and there were plenty of water toys to keep my boys busy. When they had enough sun, the boys went inside and played with the large variety of board games.
The house is close to plenty of attractions and georgeous scenery. Tons of wildlife to see!
We will definitely be back!
This was my first time using VRBO and my first vacation in ages. I planned a surprise weekend trip to Blue Haven for my boyfriend in celebration of his birthday. Denise made the process incredibly easy by giving me a call regarding the booking to sort out arrival/departure times and then emailing all the details. The home was very clean and the view was amazing. There was a lot of space for just two of us and I can see it being a great place for families. We used the canoe both days (definitely bring water shoes!), I caught up on some fun reading via swinging in one of Denise's hammocks and also in the window seat when I needed a break from the heat, we played games we brought (though there were plenty supplied as well), and we cooked all of our meals. The home had even more appliances and cookware than my permanent home, so it made things very easy. There aren't any nearby restaurants, but we did go to the Torr Na Lochs winery which was definitely worth the 20 min or so drive just for the views. It was such a relaxing, fun time. I would love to come again and definitely recommend it!
Our property is located near the small town of Tow, Texas, which is surrounded by Lake Buchanan. The lake is great for fisherman, water skiers and boaters, and also offers a large sandy island (Shaw Island) perfect for afternoon picnics.
