About Allen/Rhonda Sanders
Allen and Rhonda are semi-retired and live nearby within the community. Rhonda is artsy and creative. Allen loves to fish and ride his Harley. Both are very involved and active their local church and both love to make music and enjoy serving people.
Allen/Rhonda Sanders purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Allen/Rhonda Sanders chose Hawkins
We have lived on Lake Hawkins for over 10 years in a fabulous log home and my neighbor decided to sell her little weekend place. So with a little TLC and my wife's creativity, we fashioned this great little cottage into something that looks like it belongs on a Montana river or off the coast of Maine. Its pitched ceiling, exposed beams and a tastefully-decorated fishing motif, just feels like you're miles from everything.

Great stay at a beautiful location!
Two of my sisters and I stayed at this comfortable cabin out on Lake Hawkins. The Sanders were very hospitable in making sure they were ready for our arrival and we were fortunate to be able to introduce ourselves to Allen shortly after. The private dock for our use was excellent and the serenity of Lake Hawkins and the surrounding area was just what we needed for some family bonding time. We hope we'll be back again in the future!
Thanks for the kind words Amy - sure enjoyed having you and your sisters out for a little detox. Now that you know where we are, we're expecting y'all back - ha. You're only a guest once - after that, you're family. Until next time...
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location
We will be back! Wonderfully cared for cottage just across from the lake. The dock and boat house were just perfect for our needs. Allan couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. We will be back with the rest of the family!
Cozy cottage on peaceful Lake Hawkins
Owners are so welcoming, friendly and response. The cottage is cozy, clean and has all the amenities you will need. Walks to the lake to watch the sunrise was amazing. I'll be returning in the near future!
All the comforts of home (except at the lake!)
I can't say enough positive things about our five-day stay at this comfortable cottage on Lake Hawkins! From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The cottage was clean and charmingly decorated (fishing theme) without the clutter that would have made its compact size feel cramped. It was very well appointed too, with a fully equipped kitchen with small table and breakfast bar, queen-sized bedroom with closet, bathroom with shower and washer/dryer, comfortable living area with loveseat, sofa and chair, also flat-screen TV with Dish, AC, portable heaters and wifi. The cell reception was a bit iffy at times (we have ATT and mostly had coverage with one or two bars). There was a huge deck out front facing the lake on the other side of the road. Since we had our dogs with us, I was a little concerned about traffic on this road, but during the weekdays there was a car maybe once every 15-20 minutes; on the weekend there was a bit more, but not enough to be a significant safety issue. The rear of the house backed up to the woods, so very quiet and very relaxing! There was a screened in boathouse and a swing on the dock so plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. I can imagine in the summer the ladder into the water comes in handy for swimming! Our dogs enjoyed wading in the shallow water near shore and sitting on the deck, enjoying the warm sunshine. Which is what brings to one of the reasons this cottage was so special--it is truly dog friendly! For a minor extra fee, we got to bring our pups with us instead having to find someone to take care of them at home. The other reason we loved our stay here was how friendly and helpful the hosts were. Allen and Rhonda were the epitome of hospitality; Allen was super quick to respond to questions via text and Rhonda even extended an invite to come over to their cabin next door for shelter if severe weather threatened (fortunately we did not have to take her up on that!) About the only suggestion I might have for them would be to have a battery-operated lantern available in case of power outages at night (which we experienced due to the storms that rolled through the area). We had a very small flashlight and our phones, which we were loathe to use, not knowing how long the outage would last.
Whenever we travel, I take mental notes of the places we want to go back to; Lake Hawkins and this little cottage are definitely on that list. Thank you, Allen and Rhonda!
It was so nice to get away from it all.
The place was perfect for us and the dogs.
Fresh and Relaxing
When you walk in everything is clean, dusted, articles all in place and immaculate. Very nice with all the amenities. Walk across to dock, boat house, and fire ring. Though we were there in 40 deg temperatures still nice to walk around by lake and make a fire. Cell service is spotty but great to get out of the mainstream. Restaurant (Italian) in walk distance. My wife and I recommend this place.
Caldwell Zoo and Discovery Place in Tyler (25 mi), winery with live jazz on weekends, great antiquing, Good restaurants and grocery shopping.
