The Modern Sunny 2 Bedroom Apartment is located just a 1 minute walk to the subway station, as it is right around the corner. From there, it takes only 10 minutes to reach Manhattan by subway.
This wonderful two-bedroom apartment is located in the lively Astoria, New York City and features tasteful, modern, and mid-century modern furniture and fixtures throughout. The apartment is very sunny, airy, and spacious. At about 850 square feet, the apartment takes up the entire floor of the townhouse.
The living room is very large and comfortable, with a beautiful modern sectional sofa and classic Panton lounge chair. There is a large flat-screen television with satellite tv, which sits atop the beautiful solid walnut media cabinet.
The kitchen is fully equipped. Whether cooking a feast, preparing a simple meal, or ordering in from one of the many wonderful nearby restaurants, a meal can be enjoyed on the amazing Saarinen rosewood dining table and very comfortable classic original Saarinen dining chairs, under the beautiful warm, modern lighting that can be doubled as a piece of art.
The main bedroom is in the rear of the townhouse, overlooking the garden, which makes for a totally peaceful night's sleep. There is a Tempur-Pedic queen size mattress, which sits on top of the beautiful solid maple bed. The Tempur-Pedic mattress is perhaps the best mattress available and will most certainly provide you with a therapeutic and rejuvenating night's sleep. Just what is needed in a home away from home!
The second bedroom, which is also located in the rear of the house, has a sofa bed made in Denmark that turns into a very comfortable bed between a queen and king size and there is a solid walnut dresser. ***Update: We have now added a queen size Tempur-Pedic mattress to the second bedroom as well. The mattress is currently sitting nicely on top of the opened up orange sofa bed. New photos will be added soon.***
For the fifth and sixth guests, the sectional sofa can be used, as it splits into two pieces and forms a queen size bed when facing the two pieces towards each other. Alternatively, there is a queen size air mattress with memory foam top.
We have a pack 'n play (playard) for baby, available upon request.
The bathroom features exquisite floor to ceiling carrara marble tile. There is also an amazing skylight above, which fills the bathroom with natural light all day. The shower is very soothing and therapeutic, with a 10-inch rain showerhead and 6 shower jets, which relax and massage. There is also solid walnut cabinetry and a very large wall mirror.
The neighborhood of Astoria is the most diverse area in New York City. You will find this special area to be very conveniently located to many shops, boutiques, markets, restaurants, cafes, bars, beer gardens, museums, parks, and any other establishment that one needs or wants to have nearby in an urban setting. Many restaurants in Astoria have been highly rated by the Zagat restaurant guide, recommended in the prestigious Michelin guide, and raved about in The New York Times. For you, our guest, is a large welcome booklet in the apartment, which will help you with your planning, as it includes details such as an extensive list of restaurants in the area, many nearby markets, and a map of the area with key points. This booklet will help to immediately get you familiar with the area.
The apartment altogether is very enjoyable to wake up, relax, eat, and sleep in. It is sunny and cheerful, clean, new, fresh, and will contribute plenty of happiness and wonderful memories to your holiday in New York City!
We had an amazing trip to NYC and it was great to have such a nice place to call home every night. Jessica was very helpful and accommodating to all our needs. We were pleasantly surprised how spacious the apartment was and everything we needed was so close. (shopping, restaurants and the subway) We were sad to have to leave but would totally stay in the apartment next trip.
The apartment was as listed and perfect for our family of 4. Jessica was ultra-responsive and made sure the apartment was ready for us. The location is perfect, less than a block from the subway and plenty of stores all around. Will be staying here again!
We really enjoyed the stay and would stay again. Clean , complete, and convenient to the best of Astoria and access to Manhattan.
Being our first trip to NYC, we were unsure of how to go about picking an area that would be both safe and convenient. This location was perfect! It was clean and well stocked and a good sized unit compared with other listings we viewed. Worked out great for 2 couples not used to city dwelling. It was on a quiet street, but never felt unsafe waking home at night. Lots of choices for cheaper eating than in the city that were really good. Definitely go to Tut's Hub on Steinway for a Feteer!! Both the chicken Feteer and the sweet dessert Feteer were awesome!! Also, New York City Bagel and Coffee House was really, really good! Subway right down the street got us everywhere we wanted to go and we never felt uncomfortable coming and going. The only negative thing we had was that apparently, the heat could only be set from a central location downstairs that we did not have access to and it was HOT in the apartment. And the heater rumbled, grumbled, clicked, squeaked, moaned and groaned all through the night. I suggest ear-plugs. We brought a fan with us, but that did not drown out the sound. We were awakened many times and did not sleep well. If it had not been for the noises, we probably would have slept great as exhausted as we were after each day walking the city. The beds were very comfortable! All in all, a great experience. (do not recommend for elderly or disabled as you had to climb 2 flights of stairs to the unit. Not an issue for us.)
Great place, good location, easy and fast access to Manhattan by subway. The apartment is very clean, well equiped, the beds are good. We definitly recommend it!
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay in this apartment. It was very spacious with a good sized living area, more than adequately stocked kitchen. A good sized dining area. 2 good sized bedrooms, with plenty of storage space and a great bathroom with fab shower. We could not have wanted much else. There were also plenty of leaflets and information about places to visit and eat, which was very helpful. The only thing that would have been good, would be a safe, to put our valuables in. Maybe this wasn't too essential though, as the surrounding area seems perfectly safe. A second set of keys might also have been helpful. Those are both minor details. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone and we will certainly return to stay again, next time we are back in New York. The fact it is a bit out of the main centre, to us, was not a disadvantage, as the pluses outweighed the minuses. The fact it is a couple of minutes walk from the subway station was great. Next time, we plan to spend time exploring the area and finding other great places to eat. Thanks Jessica for our stay.
Astoria is located in the New York City borough of Queens, just over the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, also known as the 59th Street Bridge, which stretches over the East River from East Midtown Manhattan. This special neighborhood has a wonderful history, which includes being the location where Steinway & Sons, the finest piano company in the world, chose to build shop in 1853. The closest train station, named Steinway Street, where the M and R lines stop, is just a one minute walk from the apartment and will get you to East Midtown Manhattan in only 10 minutes. Astoria is a very lively area, which is heavily populated with restaurants, cafes, pastry shops, and has a vibrant nightlife. The Museum of Moving Image and Kaufman Studios is a 10 minute walk from the apartment. Also nearby are the Noguchi Museum, Socrates Sculpture Park, and the MoMA affiliated PS1 Museum.
