This is a warm house right on the water. The second floor is a large cathedral-ceilinged room, surrounded with windows. Two sliding doors open to two reading decks. It includes a dining room, a kitchen with granite counters, two seating groups and a game area--all overlooking the water--and an enclosed office off the kitchen. The light and breezes that flow through it are glorious, the sunsets stunning. The colors are pale yellows, blues and whites. The feeling is open, light space. You can shower outside when you return from the beach, and lounge/grill on two large mahogany decks. The 1.5 acre property includes an expanse of sea grass between the house and the road that waves in the breeze like the water. Neighboring homes are far apart. The shrubs house a surprising variety of birds. We offer wireless internet service and three HD tvs with hundreds of channels. There are three zones of air conditioning, plus high end ceiling fans. WEEKLY RENTALS ONLY during high season.
We built this house in 2000 to be our dream summer home. We now rent it out for only two weeks, as we enjoy it ourselves the rest of the time. We maintain it with love and care and enjoy sharing it with others who value its joys.
Alice Longley, owner purchased this house in 2000
Location, location, location! It is on the water! There are not many rentals on the water, and the house is designed to maximize your pleasure with the views.
North Truro is one of the few remaining largely undeveloped towns on Cape Cod, pristine, and heath-like. About two thirds of the town is National Seashore and cannot be developed, and the rest is tightly restricted by zoning. There are no big box retailers. The light is renowned, and has been sought out by artists for decades, including Hopper, whose studio/ house was in Truro. The beaches are glorious, and not crowded even in August. Galleries and theater and restaurants serving fish and vegetables caught and grown locally are plentiful. Truro and sister Wellfleet are quiet and lovely, while nearby Provincetown is beautiful and lively. Biking, whalewatching, kayaking, hiking through dunes and marshes, swimming in the ocean or Cape ponds, surfing, birding at a nearly Audobon Center, kiting and fishing are fun activities.
