Mountain Lake is a small lake and a Quiet Lake. It has great fishing, the water quality and temperature is perfect. You can enjoy fishing in the mornings and late afternoon. Kayak and canoe throughout the day If fishing is not your thing watch the steam dance off the lake as the morning sun rises, take a walk, read a book, go swimming, relax and work on your tan. Then settle down for a beautiful sunset. If an afternoon shower passes through the Rainbows are stunning. Anything is possible. Please Note: If you are planning to be Loud and Party all night this lake is not for you so please respect the Lake and its other Camps. Renters must be 25 years and provide proof upon signing.
We booked our Adirondack vacation very late so we had to go with what was available. That is the only reason why we can justify why we rented this house for two weeks for two adults, two teenagers & then a set of grandparents & a teenage niece for a couple of days in the middle.
This house is barely in Adirondack Park. It is a long drive to get to the Great Sacandaga Lake and at least an hour & 15 minutes to get anywhere near Lakes Luzerne or George. There are no mountains visible from the house but to be fair, that you can tell from the photos posted.
We stayed for two weeks. Before we left, we offered - in writing - to pay for a housekeeper to come in & clean. We were told that it was covered by the costs.
During those two weeks, we did not have one single garbage pickup yet we were told that we would not get our deposit back because we left food in the house. We left a note on the door saying that we couldn't put it outside because of house rules that said not to leave the garbage cans open so as not to attract bears.
Grandma & Grandpa took one look at the house's treacherous staircase & had us book them a hotel room in Amsterdam. Tiny little grandma sat on a chair & it collapsed under her. We noticed that it, like many of the other chairs in the house, had been repeatedly glued together. The dining room chairs were the worst. All had needlepoint covers on empty space on a rickety wood frame.
Some windows in the house were cracked. The barbecue grill did not work. (It turned on but did not cook.) None of the bedrooms had ceilings & hence, no privacy. (Think of a television set where the walls end but the roof is far above. Every sound from every room could be heard.) One of the bedrooms had no windows. All were creepy, particularly the "clown room", which even the teenagers avoided. The dishwasher was a complicated nightmare to work. The lights in the house were all dim. Only one room had any natural light. That becomes a big deal when you get stuck with a couple of cold & rainy days & see just how dark & depressing this place is.
Aside from the staircase to the bedrooms, there was a outside staircase to the deck & then another to the lake & dock. All were hazardous & it was miracle that none of us, particularly the grandparents, sustained any injuries.
For families with young children or grandparents in tow, PASS.
Great house, all amenities you could possibly need! Plenty of space for everyone - water is clear and lake is beautiful! Amazingly quiet and peaceful!
The place is very pretty, specifically the lakefront. Nice selection of boating gear. The house is all and all comfortable, although for 8 people, the single bathroom/toilet can be somewhat problematic, and it is also on the first floor while sleeping room s are upstairs. But certainly not a show stopper, the place is great and well equipped. Will be glad to return one day!
Very Clean & Secluded.
There was enough room to comfortably sleep 3 families.
Kids had a blast with all the Boats and Floating Trampoline.
Would Definitely do it again!
This house is amazing - comfortable, extremely well-maintained, and perfectly situated right on the lake. Plenty of boats and inflatables for swimming and going out on the water, a large, well-equipped kitchen, and great rustic touches throughout. We had a great time, and would recommend this house to anybody looking to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The Owner was also very communicative and made the whole experience very easy.
