Boater's Paradise

My family and I spent a week in June at this truly unique vacation house on one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen. We brought a boat last year and were looking for a place to take it on vacation where we wouldn't have to haul it or our gear around all the time. There was nothing more convenient than docking it 15 feet from the sliding door of this house!

The house is very well built using quality materials. As an engineer I truly appreciated all the work that was put into building a house that floats on the water. Make no mistake, this is a floating "house" not a cabin just to bunk in. The queen sized beds were comfortable and we found that there was everything we needed for the week.

The location and views from the house are unbelievable! I honestly think that they have the best location on the entire lake. The pictures of the view do not do it justice and what it doesn't capture is just how quiet the area is. The house is in a creek just off of the main channel where the lake opens up to miles of undeveloped lake. On the weekend, there were maybe 2 or 3 other boaters out and during the week there was only 1 other family in the creek, so we felt like we had the area to ourselves. The lake itself is clean, deep, deserted and usually pretty flat (think of a mirror). Even though it is up in the mountains, the water was warm and perfect for water sports. If you are new to boating or renting their boat, this is an easy lake to navigate.

We went out fishing with Bobby a couple of times and had some good luck! He was an excellent guide and handled my young boys (6 and 8) wonderfully. What is truly an amazing accomplishment was he got my wife into position to catch her first "solo" fish while they were jumping.

Steve and Marcella were excellent hosts. They have set up this house with everything you need and were a pleasure to work with. Steve made it a point to offer up anything in the house and made us feel at home. You can tell he's proud of the house and rightfully so.

This was a great family vacation for us and when the week was over nobody wanted to go home. We could have easily stayed another week and normally my wife won't say that. Our kids loved the house and playing in the water at every opportunity. While they had DirecTV in the house our kids spent more time away from all that. I would highly recommend this rental. I'm sure we'll be back, probably next year.

We had an amazing time at the lake house! The lake is beautiful, the water is clean and clear and we can't wait to go back! We took our own boat and the best way we could describe it was like super fancy camping! The self sufficient house is awesome and the technology is top notch. The generator didn't use much gas but we only ran it at night with the AC units which helped keep the house cool during a warm weekend in July. No bugs at all and the water was refreshing. The fishing was decent for the time of year and Bobby the house guest was great! Polite mountain man who was very helpful explaining the house and brought us a huge cooler of ice! We didn't have any complaints at all and are very avid boaters. The lake is easy to navigate, to the left of the channel where the house is the Dam is located and to the right is a few close marinas for gas and ice. There is a cliff to the right about 3-5 miles around the ends with a 40ft jump and a rope swing nearby. The depths of the lake are mind boggling (up to 420ft deep in certain spots). The house has two kayaks with paddles and plenty of room to hang out and enjoy. All the decor in the house is beautiful and it is well taken care of! The owners were very helpful and the drive from Myrtle Beach wasn't too bad towing our boat. The landing for our boat was good and Bobby will meet you there to help you back in and line everything up.

We had a great time on the floating house. This place is not for the faint of heart, however. You are very isolated- and it requires a boat trip for anything you have forgotten on land. Solar power was more than enough for us- however, we never once turned on the TV or ran any kind of computer/electrical device.

The house itself is beautiful- well made and well maintained. Views surrounding it are amazing. We were able to swim off the deck day and night in clean, clear water.

WOW!!!!! Don't make us leave!!!!

This was our second summer visiting this property and WOW!!! is the best way to describe this incredible home. Every detail about this home has been thought of to make your stay as amazing as possible. The location and positioning of this home lends itself to the most private setting possible. Wildlife, swimming, fishing, boating and most importantly NO CONNECTIVITY make this one of the greatest escapes around. I would highly recommend this property for couples, families and anyone else looking to totally escape from our hectic world!!!

My biggest fear in posting this review is that more and more people will find out about this truly amazing, hidden slice of paradise!!!
