Fabulous stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this rental for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The pictures were absolutely accurate...everything in the condo was extremely clean as well. Tim even stopped over to see if we had any questions and to offer some tourist advice. Very helpful!

It was also in a great quiet location and was easy to get to Acadia National Park and to Bar Harbor. We will definitely recommend this property to others and hope we get to visit again!

Super Comfortable family stay

  • 5 of 5

This is our first time going to Acadia National Park. Acadia is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. MUST COME!! Tim and Sian are super nice and friendly. This place definitely made our family vacation more cozy and enjoyable. Tim and Sian have done a lot to make this place to be our "home away home". Will definitely choose to stay at this location when we come back to Acadia next time.

Perfect for our needs.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was clean and just as we expected via the pictures. The owners want to make everyone's stay comfortable and were very informative of the island. The location was great and out of the way of Bar Harbour tourists but still convenient to get to town. We would definitely come back here again.

Good location to see a lot of things

  • 3 of 5

The location is good (except for being on a busy street). If you're in Unit 1, it can get load with road traffic. Unit is clean, however, needs some updates to the kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom. The bedrooms have no dressers to put clothes in; I had to live out of my suitcase for a week. Owner seems very nice and offers advice on local attractions. There must be units on the 2nd floor as well because we heard a lot of noise throughout the week from the neighbors above us. This is a good place to hang your hat and get out into the wilderness of Acadia.

Delightful stay in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

All of the previous reviews are spot on! One year later, we are still talking about our fabulous family vacation to Maine. This rental lived up to our expectations. It was very clean and well-equipped. The location was perfect! Right off the main road but not too busy or loud. We were so pleased to have chosen Southwest Harbor as our home base. There is so much to be explored on "the quiet side" of the island. Don't miss the hiking trails within minutes. They were incredible. Of course, we spent time at Acadia Nat'l Park and toured Bar Harbor but we really enjoyed the "local" swimming hole (just up the road from this rental) and SW Harbor finds. There are restaurants, a cafe, and a laundromat minutes away. Excellent hosts and wonderful property. Spacious and modern. Would definitely recommend!

Carefree and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

This rental was even better than we had anticipated! The exterior of the house was bedecked with beautiful potted and planted flowers and shrubs. The gracious owners made an extra effort to greet us soon after our arrival, even though one of them had just gotten out of the hospital. They offered very helpful info regarding the rental and the area. We were very pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of wine and a large bowl of fresh fruit upon our entry to the rental unit, in addition to a list of services, restaurants, and wifi instructions. There are 4 units attached to each other, from the street back, with the owners living in the rearmost unit, and the forward 3 being rental units. Our rental unit #1 was nearest the road, but since the building is set back from the street, we didn't have a problem with street noise. It was very clean and well maintained, with modern appliances, furniture and fixtures. The 2 bedrooms were at opposite ends of the rental, a good privacy factor. The very nice outdoor gas grill saved some money and time for dinner preparation as well. Paper products, dish detergent, liquid hand soap, spices, garbage bags, coffee and tea, etc. were also on hand upon our arrival. The beds were very comfortable, with generous, fluffy pillows and soft linens. Ample, soft, absorbent towels were in the bathroom as well. A handy dumpster was provided for trash, and there was more than ample parking for everyone.

We enjoyed the Drydock Restaurant and Beal's Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor, Galyn's Restaurant in Bar Harbor (on the porch facing the harbor and park), and Harbor Girl Emporium in Winter Harbor (lobster rolls!!!). Acadia National Park was majestically beautiful, especially Otter Point tidal pools and Cadillac Mountain. However, we found the Schoodic Peninsula to be stupendous, with wild waves, rocky coast and new vistas at every curve in the road. We also had an amazing whale watch out of Bar Harbor, sighting 6 whales!

We would definitely recommend this rental to anyone wanting a carefree and quiet home away from home in Southwest Harbor, and recommend Southwest Harbor over Bar Harbor, as Bar Harbor goes over the line to the touristy and kitschy, while Southwest Harbor is a working harbor, with just enough "touristy" to make it convenient for we visitors.
