Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 6 Baths, (Sleeps 10), Gated Community

Casa de las Cascadas has an award-winning design by renowned Costa Rican architect Andres Morales, and was even featured on House Hunters International. It is constructed of glass, steel and concrete, and located in a spacious gated community in Manuel Antonio. There are exceptional views of the mountains, jungle and ocean with infinity pool to sit in and enjoy the sunset with your friends and favorite drink in hand. Quepos is a convenient 5-minute drive away, and the main beach and national park are an 8-minute drive. All bedrooms have lots of light, views, own bathrooms, closets, and high ceilings with overhead fans.

Water flows through center of house and exits through rear over a waterfall into lower level pool. The entire house is surrounded by balcony with deck areas off living room, upper guest bedroom and master bedroom. The house design offers privacy for all, and space--on 2.5 acres.

There are 4 bedrooms in total. The upper two are accessed by a covered breezeway from the living area / kitchen. The lower guest bedroom is accessed via an internal stairway from the living area / kitchen. The 4th bedroom is an apartment located beneath the master, and accessed via a short outdoor sidewalk. Here is a summary:

Master Bedroom: 1 King bed, AC, walk-in closet, private bath and balcony.

Upper Guest Bedroom: 1 Queen bed, AC, walk-in closet, private bath

Lower Guest Bedroom: 2 double beds, AC, walk-in closet, private bath

Apartment: 1 Queen bed (+ futon), AC, walk-in closet, private bath and balcony.

The community is gated with 24 hour security. There is a covered parking area for 2 cars on the lower level for during the rainy season. All in all a great reasonably priced rental to enjoy the 'pura vida' of Costa Rica.

NOTE: While there is AC in each bedroom, the primary living areas are not air-conditioned. Moreover, with 25-foot ceilings, and 10 sliding glass doors & windows, the space was designed for tropical indoor/outdoor living and air flow. It should be noted that the living areas can get hot in the afternoons in the hot season (ie March & April).

About Nicole Bastian, Reservations Manager

My work is Real Estate Investing and property Management. My wife and I love to travel and on our first visit to Costa Rica we feel in love with Manuel Antonio and Quepos. Being always curious about Real Estate I had a great agent show us some properties and the rest was history as we think we found the perfect house. Hopefully if you rent you will love the place as much as we do.

If you'd like to make a reservation, you'll hear from our reservations manager, Nicole Bastian. She's from Minnesota, originally, but has lived in Manuel Antonio for over 10 years. You'll be in good hands with her!

Nicole Bastian, Reservations Manager purchased this house in 2010

Why Nicole Bastian, Reservations Manager chose El Cerro

We really loved Manuel Antonio because of its location and all its amenities. You also have the town of Quepos nearby with all of its amenities and restaurants, supermarkets, clothing stores, hardware stores, and its airport. The ocean is only minutes from the house and you have exceptional views and breezes up and down the hillside.

What makes this house unique

You have, as I stated above, the beautiful views but it is centrally located to town the beach and restaurants with public transportation a 5 min walk down the road. Our favorite thing is a short hike to a beautiful waterfall adjacent to the gated community.

You will also have a concierge who can arrange a private chef, daily maid service, or any local activity(Zip Lining, horseback riding , rafting, deep sea fishing, biking, hiking etc. or answer any questions on where to go or where to eat). A week is usually not enough time!

Perfect Property!

  • 5 of 5

I booked Casa de las Cascades for my 40th birthday and could not be happier with my decision. I travelled with 8 friends and the home worked perfectly. The house itself is architecturally stunning and very comfortable. The rooms are clean and simple and the fact that all rooms are en suite is a real plus. The house was equipped with everything we needed and although I had never been to Costa Rica before I thought the location was perfect. It was a short cab ride to restaurants, beaches, nightlife, etc.

One of the best things about the house is the fact that the staff (and our concierge Vanessa) was beyond accommodating. Prior to our arrival she helped book excursions, dinners for nine, transportation, and even stocked the house with some essentials and wine. A lot of wine. Throughout the trip she was extremely responsive and helped with our many requests (ice, more wine, restaurant suggestions, etc.). Everything was completely seamless. We had a chef (Rodger) come and prepare breakfast most days and had one nice dinner at home that was great (and affordable) as well. Rodger and his team were amazing as well.

Manuel Antonio is gorgeous and I can't recommend it enough. I would return to Casa de las Cascades in a second. The photos do not do justice to the views, the simple luxury of the home, or importantly the warmth of the folks who helped make my birthday so great at every point of the journey.

An Amazing House in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This luxurious residence helped us have an awesome end to an already great trip to Costa Rica. After spending 4 adventurous days in the Arenal Volcano area, we spent the last 4 days of our trip relaxing in this spacious home in Manuel Antonio. Framed in wall to wall windows, we had a perfect view from every location to see the mountains to our right, the ocean in the distance and every shade of green around us. Sunsets were spectacular! We hardly wanted to leave as it felt like a piece of paradise right there with an elegant infinity pool and the sounds of the water falling to a smaller pool below the main floor. Wildlife surrounded us with many species of birds to view such as hummingbirds, macaws, melodious blackbirds, and Tanager’s. It was common to see black iguanas, lizards and a variety of colorful butterflies. We were lucky to spot a group of squirrel monkeys climbing on a nearby powerline.

The AC was a huge plus in the private bedrooms but we opened up every door and window for fresh air with cross ventilation in the main area. Our girls felt they got the best room in the house on the bottom level. It was spa-like with the sounds of the waterfall into the smaller pool outside. All bedrooms were spacious and clean.

Vanessa was there to greet us answering questions, getting us food, making reservations for excursions, and kind of at our beck and call. She recommended Chef Xavier for one day to cook meals. The kids all still say this was one of the best days of our trip. They watched him prepare each delicious meal! Well worth every penny.

We are ready to go back…Pura Vida!

An excellent adventure

  • 5 of 5

Our group ranged in age from 20's through "up there" and this was a perfect house for all of us. The pre-trip assistance from Vanessa was extremely helpful and made trip planning much easier (and exciting!) . The house has four wonderful suites so each group had their own space with wonderful views from all rooms. The common areas were comfortable and the infinity pool was inviting throughout the day. We cooked meals without difficulty in the equipped kitchen. Hot/cold water cooler provided, as well as basic spices and kitchen needs. Vanessa made herself available to us throughout the week and helped with shopping and trip planning. It was very easy to get cab service from the house, and there are great activities (beaches, surfing , bars, dining, national forest) within 5-10 minute drive from the house. We enjoyed lounging on the patios and taking in the beautiful views from the house. An excellent house for an excellent adventure.

Perfect house for an amazing getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I luckily choose this house for out first adventure to Costa Rica. We were in search of beautiful views and privacy to get away. This house is in a great location, far enough of the main road for the peace and quiet, yet close enough to get to Manuel Antonio or Quepos easily. The house is spacious and set up for lots of privacy through out the house. The views are amazing of both ocean and mountains from every balcony. Jonathan helped us set up an ATV tour, zip lining, spa services and our family favorite Carlos the chef to prepare meals from the home. Carlos was excellent and we highly recommend!! He would quickly prepare whatever we requested, we enjoyed every meal we had. You can't go wrong with this house, we definitely plan to return!

Paradise!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent one month in Casa de las Cascadas with our 3 and 5 year old boys and it was like living in Paradise.

We had family and friends over for a couple weeks and the house is big enough for 10 without feeling crowded.

The villa is at a convenient distance to everything. We didn't have a car and were able to go everywhere we wanted with taxi services and public transportation. The views are spectacular and so relaxing. I could have spent the whole month just sitting ont the terrasse and watching the ocean and mountains! Will definitely return. Fell in love with Costa Rica!!!

first stay hope to return

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we feel like we hit the jackpot!! It didn't take long to transition from our fast-paced Washington DC home to this magical and enchanting property. Each morning we woke to the sounds of tropical birds and beautiful vistas. We dipped in the pool throughout the day while gazing at the ocean on the and watching for the resident sloughs and white-chinned monkeys.

We were there with two other couples and stayed in the apartment which was fully equipped with a small kitchen, gorgeous tiled bathroom, and beautiful native wood walls. We loved the privacy and could easily join our friends in the main house ( 30 second walk to house door). We felt pampered and had everything we needed.

The main house is spectacular - all the rooms were spacious and luxurious. The living and dining rooms are totally glassed allowing constant views of the landscape and ocean. The pool just off the living room is amazing and a popular gathering spot. How glorious to dip in and jump out to the recliners and look at the ocean view or just stay in the water and soak up the sun. In addition to the main pool off the living, there is a smaller pool with a waterfall just outside one of the bedrooms and is accessible thru the sliding doors. It is great for late night dips to relax and unwind. The beaches, stores, restaurants, grocery stores and coffee houses are just down the hill via a nice walk or short car ride.

Kent and Estella, the property managers, were very accommodating and helped us plan excursions (zip lining, vanilla farm (great!) and hikes to waterfalls).

This is a wondeerful property and we look forward to a return visit.
