This condo has been popular for many years and has many happy and satisfied returning annual guests. We recently purchased from the last owner who had great reputation.

Only three stories high our property is relatively quiet set away from all the high-rise resorts and condominiums. Enjoy the advantage being on the 1st floor, walk-out unit, nothing is between you and the Ocean! Besides being 5 minutes away from world famous beaches, we also have our own small sandy beach cove that is just to the left of our barbeque area. There is a nice sandy entrance into the water and you will usually find the current in this area quite calm for easy swimming. Enjoy the private snorkeling area right in front of your condo! Explore the incredibly clear waters of the Pacific Ocean where colorful Tropical Fish and Sea Turtles play!

Be sure to enjoy all the wonderful restaurants in our area. Or, you may just want a nice relaxing dinner at home. The best seat on the island for dinner is on your Lanai, enjoying the Sunset!

What a blast! Loved staying in your unit, having it on the ground floor was perfect and the views were outstanding. Got to see numerous turtles and even videoed a calf breaching multiple times while sitting on the sea wall. Enjoyed breakfast & dinner on the lanai. Participated in the blowing of the conch shell at sunset. The absolute best thing about the Kulakane are the people staying here. Wonderful, wonderful people and contributing to the Friday sunset pupu potluck was a treat. Becky was extremely helpful & courteous and Mercedes did a great job. Thank you for providing this Maui abode for us to enjoy.

Close to Paradise

This was our first visit to the islands. We chose Maui on the recommendation from our son. So, we had no idea what to expect. Let me be begin by saying this rental is within walking distance to an excellent farm Market, a coffee establishment, and an excellent Fish Market. It was very easy to get to the towns, by car, north and south of Honokowai. The rental itself offered everything one would need to enjoy their stay on Maui. The view was exceptional, beautiful sunsets and sunrises. People at the condo were very friendly and helpful. we would highly recommend this rental for a leisurely stay on Maui!!

A great stay in Maui.

First off, this was my first time to Maui. I've always gone to the Big Island(20+ Visits), so we were flying blind in our decision on what part of the island to stay. I can say now after driving completely around and to the top of Maui we feel we made the best choice. The complex is small and has a relaxing feel, also everyone has a great ocean view. There is every amenity you need within walking distance or a short drive without having to go into town. 15 mins in either direction will also get you to a multitude of some the best beaches on the island. The condo was pleasantly decorated in island style and had a comfortable bed. It also had almost everything you need for a small family to have a great time from boogie boards, cooler, beach chairs, and more. Our friends who were staying at a much more expensive Ocean front resort remarked about how much they enjoyed the view and the super close private proximity to the ocean. We poured over the different condos available and I feel for the money we could not have made a better choice! Becky was also very easy to deal with and we look forward to returning in the future.

A hidden gem in West Maui

I would actually give this condo 4.5 stars if I could. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Maui.

First, all of the positives as they far outweigh any drawbacks. The unit is clean and in a prime location north of Lahaina. It is very functional with the king size bed, a sleeper sofa in the living room, and the sliding patio door directly to the waterfront. We easily slept myself, my wife and my daughter in the unit for the 5 nights we were there. The kitchen is well apportioned with pans/utensils/place settings/etc for a dinner party if you wish. There is a coffee pot, microwave, small dishwasher (we didn't use this as we just washed everything by hand after each meal), large refrigerator/freezer, toaster, and an electric range. The people that live there are SUPER NICE! Make sure to say hello to them.

The pictures of the proximity to the water are REAL. The ocean is just steps away, and the sound of the waves can be heard both in the living room AND in the bedroom. There are two gates into the ocean from the property. The first is directly in front of this unit. It is a set of stairs down into the water, which ranges from 6 inches to a foot deep, depending on the tide. The other ocean access is through a gate to a small beach on the north end of the property.

There are sea turtles in the ocean starting around 10:00 AM and continuing throughout the day. They feed on the coral reefs, and you sit on top of the wall and watch them. Some turtles also come up onto the beach to the south of the property at night to sleep. As this was late April, we also saw several whales during our stay.

You can snorkel in front of the property or there is a county park about 0.2 miles south. It is directly in front of Boss Frog, where you can rent snorkel gear and other equipment by the week. This is very convenient, as you don't need to move your vehicle to go to a nicer beach. There is also a natural food store called Farmers Market there as well. They do have farmers come to sell produce there a couple of times a week in the morning. The full grocery store (Times Supermarket) is about 0.75 miles to the south.

As for the drawbacks....the unit is not air conditioned. It really wasn't a huge problem for us, but if you need air conditioning, this unit doesn't have it. Also the smoke detector is really sensitive (set it off at 4:30 am while cooking the first day).

Overall a really nice place! Highly recommended for the price!

we, luckily, came upon this property without any prior knowledge of this complex and are so glad we did. we enjoyed this ground level unit and direct access to the grass, pool and ocean. the promised views are absolutely there and we enjoyed seeing sea turtles and whales (bring binoculars) and we even watched a calf breaching several times not too far offshore. the unit fit our needs perfectly. there was plenty of space in the living room and the sofa bed is comfortable. we didn't use the small dining table preferring to use the lanai with the glorious weather or the coffee table when the weather was not cooperating. the smoke detector is sensitive so be ready to open the sliding door and the ceiling fans as well as the front door or the louvers in the front door (that solved the problem). there was plenty of kitchen items as well as linen. there are beach chairs in the unit as well as coolers and check under the bed for boogie boards. the king bed was a little soft but comfy. parking is easy unless others have not parked between the "lines". complex is walking distance to an ABC store and a good-to-great seafood market/casual restaurant and is close to a major supermarket and the north end of the Boardwalk where there are nice sandy beaches. small beaches sandwiches the complex and there is easy access. the best thing are the other friendly people staying here along with the nightly conch shell blowing at sunset (definitely participate) and the friday sunset pupu potluck. there are 2 gas grills by the manager's office as well as a laundry room. remember they recycle and have containers in the refuse area also by the manager's office. they have quiet time at 10pm so this is a great place for families with young kids. i have stayed at the hotels in Ka'anapali and another condo in Napili but this was the best yet.

Great stay on West Maui!

My wife and I stayed here in Feb. and loved it!! Nice clean quiet place with lots of "extras" such as beach chairs, coolers, umbrellas etc. that made staying here and beach hopping a breeze. It is in a very central location on the west shore. Walking distance to beaches and shops and a short drive to Front Street in Lahaina. The property manager was great to deal with and we found that it was a very well priced for our stay during a busy Feb. in Maui.

Skip The Overpriced Resorts!

It really is just like the pictures. Just feet from the sand, turtles swimming a few feet away daily, amazing sunsets, the staff felt like friends in minutes, the Sunday pot luck was sweet, and the price could not be beat. And it was close to scuba/everything in Lahaina. We almost burned twice as much per night for a place with a fancy lobby, more pools and a restaurant, and we are sure glad we didn't! We just walked over there for dinner one night instead. Simply loved Kulakane, and hope we make it back someday...
