'Let's go to that house. For the sheets smell of lavender, and I long to sleep in a pair of sheets that smell so.' Izaak Walton in the Compleat Angler 1653
Heather and Arleigh Fair are no strangers to the hospitality business. Way back in early retirement, the urge to play in the dirt started them on an amazing adventure when they bought a huge chunk of land in the Fraser Valley that soon took on a mind of its own.eventually growing into a destination garden, B&B, bistro and a line of organic body care products made with herbs from the gardens. Retirement way out of control! What to do? Most of their friends were travelling but they knew from experience that real travel was not for the faint of heart and home was always hard to leave. Now, back to the land on a much more manageable scale in a new house specially designed for an active retired couple, days are spent visiting friends and family, pottering in the gardens and welcoming visitors to a very private 2 bedroom self -contained apartment.
Heather Fair purchased this estate in 2011
We have lived most of our married life in Langley where we raised our 3 children enjoying all the benefits of country living yet close enough to Vancouver whenever city lights beckoned. Langley is home to miles of walking, biking and horseback riding trails, kayaking, fishing, parks, antiquing, farm gate shops and serious retail therapy. The quaint, leafy village of Fort Langley (original capital of British Columbia) is filled with one of a kind shops, excellent restaurants and coffee shops.
The Treehouse is conveniently located 5 minutes from Highway #1 with easy access to USA border crossing, Abbotsford International Airport and 45 minutes to downtown Vancouver. Closer to home we are across the street from Pagoda Ridge Golf Course, minutes to Thunderbird Equestrian Center, Gloucester Industrial Estates,The Vancouver Zoo, Trinity Western University, the village of Fort Langley, the Fort Langley Integrative Health Center. Minutes to the Fraser River, famous for sturgeon fishing.
Our Treehouse apartment, specially designed to offer relaxation, comfort and privacy, is within, yet separate from the main residence on a 5 acre country estate. Huge windows bring the outdoors in; a wildly inviting terrace offers views of the gardens & pond. Guests are welcome to harvest fresh organic veggies from the homeowners kitchen garden!
'A very nice place to stay with own entrance and (balcony) terrace. The inside is comfortable, clean & everything you need is there. The owners were very hospitable to us.
My partner and I were truly blown away when we arrived at this beautiful home. We both felt so comfortable staying here for 2 weeks, the house is very well looked after, with such a warm relaxed feeling. Heather and Arleigh made us feel so welcome.
This is a place i would come each and every time i visit canada, we wouldnt think twice about it.
Thank you to Heather and Arleigh for making our stay so memorable.

We would highly recommend this beautiful accommodation to anyone visiting the Langley area. Set on a gorgeous country property, the clean well-appointment apartment and deck offered us a wonderful place to rest and relax after busy days of sightseeing. The owners were most welcoming and helpful in answering our questions. We would book this vacation rental again when visiting the lower mainland!
Lovely, new place with a gated entrance. The place was so quiet and had plenty of books for entertainment. It was perfect for family time. The owners take exceptional care of their garden and grounds. The place was well furnished and had everything that we needed. Every closet had fresh lavender :). All of the nice touches made this place a great place away. We accidentally left a swimming suit and the owner mailed it back to us!
The description of the property was accurate except we thought the rental was in town and it wasn't but we enjoyed being there anyway. The rental was in pleasant grounds with an electronic gate that made us feel safe. The unit was on top of a 3 car garage and it had outside steps onto a patio. The inside was ideal - very clean and well maintained and had 2 bedrooms and a large lounge room/dining room and kitchen. The kitchen had all the equipment you needed.
The unit is not really geared for very young children but older children would enjoy being there. It is fenced and the grounds are beautiful.
We had to hire a car as we were about 6 kms from our favourite town - Fort Langley. This is a unique town and has loads of little shops and restaurants. We ate in town for one meal most days. Our favourites were Wendell's book cafe and the Whitehouse. Both were very nice and the service in both is really good.
The US border is close by and we were between two towns, Langley and Abbotsford. There are movie theatres and restaurants, shopping and things to see and do in both places and all the way between the two on the highway etc.
The owners Araleigh and Heather made us very welcome and made sure our stay of 8 weeks was enjoyable.
We liked it so much we are going back for 6 weeks next month.
I didn't want to write a review because then more people will want to come and stay at our home away from home. But Heather and Arleigh are such wonderful hosts, that they deserve a wonderful review. Our family has stayed here more than once, and we love everything about it: being out in the country, located across the street from the golf course, great roads for cycling, close to beautiful Fort Langley and Langley, the gorgeous gardens around the house, 2 good sized bedrooms and a proper kitchen. What more could you ask for?
Heather and Arleigh call this their Treehouse in the Country and that is a wonderful description for this beautiful suite on the 2nd floor. We loved the floors as soon as we walked through the door into this bright and spacious accommodation. We were travelling with friends who had worked in Italy for two years and the decor instantly brought back memories of their time there.
The bedrooms are a decent size and both the beds and the bedding were comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is all newer stainless appliances and is well equipped for any cooking you might like to do. In the various closets we found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The landscaped yard that surrounds the property is fenced and gated and the suite has a great deck that overlooks the yard and the surrounding countryside.
Heather and Arleigh were friendly, helpful and attentive, but not intrusive, and we enjoyed talking with heather about the property and the surrounding area.
We would definitely recommend this property and are going to make sure to book it again when we pass through.
