This property is located in Treasure Island which is just the best subdivsion on the coast. It is quiet and a great get-away spot for families. We have some of the best quality Gulf water in the entire region due to offshore waters coming into the Pass with the tides. We also have City of Galveston drinking water. This is the best view anywhere because we have the ligths on the west end of Galveston Island shining across the waters of the Pass at night and in the morning we sip coffee looking at the sunrise out front. Stars and moon can be spectacular over the vast expanse of the Gulf. Pelicans fly along in formation just out front and occasionally porpoises play in the pass.
This is living on the beach at its best. The house is uniquely designed with flow-through ambiance from room to room. The view of the water from the front decks is unsurpassed anywhere. The kitchen has everything with top of the line appliances and invection cooktop. Travertine and quartzite floors throughout house. Quality mattresses and furniture.
Our family gathered over the July 4th holiday at Sail Away Gal, and we loved it! This brilliantly designed home faces the sunrise over the Gulf and an almost private beach. We shared the beach with one other family! No cars. And each morning the receding tide left a new treasure trove of shells for our grandchildren to collect.
The home itself is very thoughtfully designed and furnished. We especially loved the covered deck that wrapped around the main floor of the house. Three of the bedrooms have extremely comfortable king beds, and the fourth bedroom has four bunks for our grandchildren. The kitchen was completely furnished with everything we needed for our meals. Very nice. Appliances are all top-of-the-line. There was plenty of seating for eating meals, playing games, watching tv, or just hanging out. Three air conditioning units kept everything very comfortably cool...in July! My husband and I loved the upstairs master. Each morning we brewed our coffee, then relaxed on our private balcony listening to the peaceful sound of the waves and the birds and watching the sunrise...a beautiful, restful way to start a day.
We look forward to returning!
*The listing was accurate and the property was exactly as promised.
*It was clean and well-maintained.
*The owner provided good customer service. They responded promptly to our inquiries.
*We rode the ferry to Bolivar. Fun! And we also recommend the Crocodile Encounter in Angleton...amazing and well-run.
*We highly recommend this property.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very clean and well kept. Beautiful views from every room. It's a good idea to bring your own life vest if you plan on utilizing kayaks. But there are many place to launch near by so it's super conveitent. We waded right outside our cabin and swam at beaches a short distance down the road for safety. We loved the peace and quite the cabin offered being at the end of the island was perfect for us. Don't forget the drive thru daiquiri stop on your way in!
I rented this beach house for my 50th Birthday Weekend. It was everything I had hoped for. Beautiful home and furnished delightfully. We cooked all weekend and the kitchen had so many items you would need to prepare the meals. Mixer, pots, pans, bowls, utensils. Also had lovely serving bowls and platters for the food. The beds were extremely comfortable with great sheets! Bathrooms were wonderful with high quality towels. Everything was easy to use - TV's, Satellite, Washer/Dryer. The view was superb! Loved this area and we did find some great shells on the beach. I brought board games but did not need to. The home has plenty of games to choose from. We also played pool upstairs - so much fun. Ramp and stairs were easy to haul all of our luggage and igloo. My dogs loved the view from the balcony and the home. I can't say enough about this property - it was a great weekend and I hope to come back to this beach house soon.
This was our second time to stay here and it was just as beautiful as it was the first time. Looking forward to our next stay!
This is our 2nd year to stay at this beautiful house and we had another great vacation with our kids and grandkids! This house has plenty of room for everyone and we never felt crowded. The kitchen is wonderful and has everything you need. It was so fun in the mornings to have all the grandkids eating at the kitchen bar. We love the front and back porches with the rocking chairs to sit and enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The beach down the road was so nice and clean. We set up our tents at the beginning of the week and left them there all week. We did take the covers off each night because of the wind. The grandkids loved finding lots of pretty shells. The owners are so easy to work with and we look forward to returning next year!!
This home was the Perfect Beach Getaway for my family. This lovely beach house has everything you need and is perfect for cooking great meals in a beautiful kitchen over looking the ocean. Our family of12 all slept very comfortable in the cozy beds and enjoyed the pool room upstairs. Besides preparing our meals-the relaxing deck and view was the Best and we couldn't have chosen a better home. Our stay was amazing walking down to the beach collecting seashells and playing in the sand. We look forward to returning back as this has been The Best we have stayed in. We had no issues and everything with the owners of this home , The Blackwelders, was so smooth. Thank You for everything!
My family, 10 in all, spent our Christmas vacation here and had an incredible time. The accommodations are excellent, allowing plenty of space to move around. The ramp made bringing up luggage and groceries a breeze. Everyone seemed to get really good sleep, since the beds were so comfortable. We felt that we were close enough to Galveston for convenience, but far enough out of the hustle and bustle for the quiet and family solitude we were seeking. We spent hours playing games and putting together puzzles while we were inside, and searching for shells while we were outside. The kitchen was well-appointed, making the preparation of meals quite easy. The quiet neighborhood made it nice for the kids to roller blade around safely, and the wrap-around porch meant we could keep our eyes on them, no matter which direction they headed. The separate air conditioning systems for the house made it easy to keep everyone comfortable. We decided to spend only one day in Galveston, choosing to eat at Fisherman's Wharf, which was a bit pricey, but good. Example: We asked if they had any flavored tea for our kids, which the waiter gladly brought out without mentioning they were $3 each. Yikes! Then we went shopping on the Strand - great shops! We had one booking snafu that occurred prior to our arrival, but it was handled quickly by the owners. I noticed that the dates on some of my paperwork were off and called to inquire about it. Somehow, the Homeaway system allowed the place to be double-booked for our last scheduled night, so we had to cut our trip short. As I said though, the owner quickly reimbursed us and made the situation right. So, just be certain that all your dates on your paperwork match up correctly. We would absolutely tell our friends about and book this wonderful place again without hesitation! We have some great memories to share for the rest of our lives!
Great birding and fishing area; huge wildlife refuge area in backbay area; great kayaking spot Nice drive along Bluewater Hwy through Galveston Island leads to Moody Gardens and spectacular tropical gardens, aquarium, IMAX, etc.; great dining; historical strand district and shops.
