Sun-Lit, “Tree-Tops” Condo in Convenient Location Near Beach
Welcome to our lovely and ideally situated 2- bedroom, 2-bath sunny and bright condo, continually updated since our purchase in 2011. The combination of tasteful décor, ample amenities, and location within a 3-minute walk of the beach, conference center, and shops and restaurants can't be equaled for a place to stay in our price range (see map and satellite view; on the satellite view, it is the first grey-white image in the midst of trees on the west side of Beach Wood Road just north of the Omni Hotel and Conference Center. The tree-scape is so lush that you can't even make out the parking area in front of our building).
This top-level, corner unit of our beautifully landscaped, four-story building has many advantages. It is bright and sunlit at all hours of the day because of its top-floor location and extra windows. The private balcony affords views of century-old oaks harboring a variety of wildlife during the day (we saw a pileated woodpecker on our first tour of the building) and a panoramic vista of stars along with refreshing breezes at night.
If you happen to be attending a conference or are otherwise considering renting through the Omni Hotel, that alternative would be much more expensive (often more than twice as expensive) and, with a 2-bedroom unit like ours with kitchens, etc. (some units like ours rent through Omni), would probably be much less conveniently located and without the tasteful decorating and extra living room and bedroom windows that our unit offers. Note that two-thirds of these units only have one window in each room, while ours has two in all three - living room and the two bedrooms. Also, unless you're in or very near our building, you'll have to depend on Omni van transportation to get to the conference center, hotel, and restaurants and, perhaps also, the beach, whereas we are just a 2-3 minute walk to each.
Our quiet condo has plenty of seating in the airy living room, an attractive and fully equipped kitchen, a dining area for six to sit comfortably and a sideboard for entertaining, a king-sized bed in the newly decorated master bedroom, two double beds in the guest room (with two windows on separate walls in each bedroom), an additional roll-away bed if necessary, and two newly updated bathrooms. The utility room offers a full-sized washer and dryer.
We have beach chairs and an umbrella and also two nice 21 speed Schwinn bikes with hybrid 28" tires hanging in our utility room that we can make available to enjoy the extensive area bike trails at a rental rate that is less than the cost you will pay elsewhere.
To stay connected while on vacation, high speed wireless internet, cable for the three flat-screened TVs, and phones to make free local and long distance calls are provided.
We furnish a wealth of information on things to do and places to see in this lovely corner of the world – the many unique parks and nature trails; historic sites; options for walking and hiking, bird watching, swimming, golfing, biking, kayaking, and fishing, and tennis; restaurant, shopping, and fish market recommendations; and special events.

By professions, we are a learning disabilities teacher in the lower grades and a lawyer/financial advisor/public official. We live near Lake Michigan in the northern Chicago suburbs and love being close to the water here, as we do at home. Our first two visits to the Plantation about twenty years ago were for conferences, and we returned on vacation three times later before investing as owners here in 2011. We love the combination of the southeastern Atlantic low country and Florida, but with the benefit of changing seasons and absence of traffic and tourists of many other parts of Florida. For those from other parts of the country, access through the Jacksonville airport (only 35 minutes away) compares favorably with a place like Hilton Head (and its somewhat warmer than the SC resorts in the winter and early spring).
See below as to how our unit compares favorably with similar properties, including those of its kind, whether you are vacationing, attending a conference, or combining pleasure and business with spouse and family.
Our building is no more than a 3-minute walk across the street to the beach and equally close to the conference center and shops and restaurants on the Plantation (check out the satellite view on the map). Our building is the closest of the three buildings of its kind to the conference center and restaurants and shops, considerably closer than the other two. And yet it is TOTALLY quiet and surrounded by trees and tasteful landscaping that you won't find in the most exclusive resorts (with bird life to go with it - e.g. pileated woodpeckers frequently seen from our parking lot in front of the building).
Our top floor, corner unit with extra sunlight also has special appeal. Note that only one-third of the units in the three buildings like ours (the end units) have two windows in the living room, the master bedroom, and the second bedroom, which, on our top floor above the tree canopy especially, also provide extra light. The other units only have one window in each of these rooms. For these reasons, plus the especially nice furnishings and tasteful decorating (which is somewhat evident from the pictures which do not do it full justice), our unit may not be the least expensive of its kind, but it is still a bargain, and generally offers a HUGE savings over staying at the hotel or renting a similar (and likely inferior - darker; not as nicely decorated; less conveniently located) unit of the same kind through Omni. There is access to two pools in back of our, and adjacent, buildings as well as to one across the street, just above the beach and ocean.
We also have two nice 21-speed Schwinn his and her bikes with 28" hybrid tires in our utility room that we can make available for a cost that is considerably less than local rentals so you can enjoy the extensive local bike trails on the island.
I have been to Amelia Island Plantation 3 times, twice with my two young children. This particular unit is great in terms of value and aesthetics and proximity to everything the plantation has to offer. Especially with kids, walking from one end of the plantation to the other can be a lot, but being no more than a 5 minute walk from the beach, hotel, restaurants, bike & golfcar rentals and playgrounds was perfect. The rooms are great and well furnished. The owner is also very responsive which is always a plus. I would stay here again next year if we return to Amelia Island.
My husband and I and our 3 teenagers went for a long weekend. Just a short walk to all amenities, pool, shops, giant checkers, mini golf and the sun rise on the beach! We went kayaking with the Omni Nature Center, the guides were fantastic! The condo on the top floor is so quiet. Every evening we played board games. It is a short drive to the Historic Fort Clinch located in Clinch State Park and many other wonderful things are a drive up A1A hwy. We had a quick and speedy response from owner and property manager. They were all very accomitdating.
I RENTED THIS UNIT FOR 8 WEEKS WHILE ATTENDING CANCER TREATMENT AT THE UNIV OF FL PROTON INSTITUTE NEARBY. THE LOCATION WITHIN THE OMNI PLANTATION AMELIA ISLAND IS RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF ACTIVITY FOR BEACH, POOL, SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS. THIS CONDO IS ON THE TOP (4TH FLOOR) AND IS VERY QUIET. THERE IS A BALCONY THAT OVERLOOKS A TREE AREA FOR PRIVACY AND SUNLIGHT. THE UNIT HAS 3 FLAT SCREEN TV'S WITH CABLE AND INTERNET AND IS COMPLETELY FURNISHED WITH ANY TOWELS, SHEETS, OR COOKING EQUIPMENT YOU COULD POSSIBLY NEED. THERE ARE ALSO 2 BIKES AND 2 BEACH CHAIRS AND AN BEACH UMBRELLA STORED IN THE UNIT. THE OMNI FEATURES MANY BIKE AND WALKING PATHS FOR EXERCISE.
OVERALL THE AREA IS INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL. JUST A SHORT DRIVE TO THE NORTH IS THE QUAINT AND ROMANTIC TOWN OF FERNANDINA, WITH MANY SHOPS, A SATURDAY FARMERS MARKET, MANY RESTAURANTS,
AND LOCAL ARTIST DISPLAYING THEIR ARTWORK. VERY CLOSE TO THE CONDO IS A HARRRIS TEETER GROCERY STORE, LIQUOR STORE, FUEL STATION, LADIES CLOTHING STORE, AND SEVERAL OFF PROPERTY RESTAURANTS FAVORED BY LOCALS. I ESPECIALLY LIKED BARZHEN. THE OWNER OF THE CONDO ALONG WITH AMELIA RENTALS WERE GREAT TO WORK WITH AND I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CONDO FOR A BRIEF OR LOND STAY. PAUL/MEMPHIS, TN
We were there for a long weekend and loved the convenience to the beach, pool, and The Omni Resort and Conference Center. The Amelia Island Shops were walking distance as well. The villas have their own large pool which wasn't crowded. Historic Fernandina beach is a short drive away. The condo is spacious, comfortable and in a very tranquil setting up on the fourth floor.
I visited Amelia Island for a girls getaway. What an amazing condo...it is bright, open and beautifully decorated. The well equipped kitchen and baths are very clean and large. Located 3 minutes from the beach and pools, as well as walking and biking trails throughout the plantation, you can be as active as you would like. The Plantation grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. The beach is perfect for walking, swimming and relaxing. Shopping eclectic stores, fun and delicious restaurants, local community theatre, farmer's markets...all make a memorable, perfect girls getaway or any family vacation! The owners are great to work with and are so helpful...I would highly recommend this property for your next vacation.
My wife and I stayed 14 weeks. We have been going to the plantation for the last 3 years, and love it. If someone wants the perfect location for the winter months, this is it. The owners are great to deal with and the manager of the unit is also quick to respond if you have any concerns. Walking the beach, golf, bicycling, fishing, shopping, great restaurants, and so much more. We loved walking the beach looking for sharks teeth. This rental unit had everything you would need, for a short or long stay, very clean, and up to date.
Beautiful state parks and natural areas within 10 minutes, shopping and dining options and harbor-side fish market in historic downtown Fernandina Beach on the island.
