Experience our Tropical Oceanfront Paradise in contemporary Hawaiian accommodations delivering cozy island living. Our single-story 1440 Sq.Ft. home is 30 feet from the ocean's edge on a seawall and 150 yards from sandy beaches. The unique closeness to the ocean gives a dynamic connection and sound of the ocean's movement, which is both picturesque and exciting. From the open Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen a wall of floor to ceiling windows so close to the ocean will fill your senses with the wonder and beauty of nature. The incredible ever-changing ocean views of turtles swimming right in front of you while you relax in the yard or patio, whales in winter, lovely occasional rainbows and beautiful sunsets let you know you are truly in a special place.

Because we consider the 10' seawall a potential danger for young children, we recommend only infants under 9 months and children over 5. Please keep in mind that since we are so close to the ocean that there are times when the water hits the seawall and some spray occasionally getting to the house. It can be exciting or daunting depending on your point of view. We ourselves love the intimacy with the ocean.

If you are looking for a small picturesque enclave in a secluded area away from Honolulu, this is it

Beautiful, tranquil North Shore ocean front home

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful vacation home, on the very quiet eastern end of the North Shore. If you want to get away from the busier areas of O'ahu and have a quieter, more laid back experience, this is the perfect vacation spot.

The house is very well equipped with everything you need from a vacation home. It's a bonus to have a property with two separate living areas and the broadband is super fast. We loved being close to the ocean and having this fabulous view. We watched whales breaching and dancing their way across the horizon while sitting on the deck. On calmer days, you can see turtles bobbing across the bay.

Staying on the North Shore in March meant some awesome waves - you definitely need to keep the ocean-facing windows closed on the days when the swell is higher! The house is also opposite Dillingham Airfield, and it's great fun to watch people sky diving - they come in right over the top of the house!

While the house is on a rocky part of the shore and doesn't have direct sea access, there's a beach just a very short walk down the road (Unfortunately, this beach access was closed temporarily while we were there). The house has some great beach stuff (boards, coolers, snorkelling fins etc) and if you jump in the car, just minutes down the road, there are 3 or 4 stunning and usually deserted beaches on the road to Kaena point, where you can see also amazing sunsets. You've also got Pipeline etc. just 15-20 minutes drive away.

Haleiwa is just a ten minute drive, and has everything you need - from restaurants, to a great grocery store, and a gas station.

While the house is next to a road, we weren't bothered by the traffic, which is very light. Other people have noted that the house gets warm during the day - that's true, but by opening up the doors and putting the fans on, the house cooled quickly in the evening. We found it was safe and quiet enough to leave the front door open all day until we went to bed, which kept a lovely breeze flowing through the house.

The property manager, Taiana, and owner, Richard, were incredibly helpful when we booked our trip and during our stay - thank you!

We were very fortunate to stay at the house for a month and enjoyed every minute of our holiday. We've stayed in some lovely vacation properties, and this is one of the best. We'd recommend this lovely house to anyone who'd like a holiday away from the hustle and bustle with the bonus of stunning ocean views.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, after reading it, I want to stay at the house and enjoy everything you did! I am sure a lot of other people will end up feeling the same way, so that was a very helpful review. I also appreciated your honesty, the description of the property, and the description of the surrounding beaches. Thank You for taking care of the home, so glad you enjoyed yourselves, until next time!! A Hui Hou, Taiana Scanlan

Love this house!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in this home twice, the first time was visiting friends who were renting the house. Our return trip was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. One of our favorite things about this house is that the back door leads out to a deck that faces the ocean, with lounge chairs to sit and watch the whales (during migration), turtles, surfers and the sunrise and sunset. We always start and end our day out there.

This house is close to many attractions and in a quiet area. Across the street is Dillingham Airfield where if your adventuresome you can go Skydiving (Pacific Skydiving) or take a glider ride which is also located there. Be sure to grab a bite to eat at the Holoholo Food Truck and sample some of the best food prepared by Robert. You won't be sorry. There are so many things to do, for example our trip included one major thing each day so we'd have time to sit on the deck and enjoy the beautiful view and weather.

Try the North Shore Catamaran Whale watching tour, Cpt Mark and his crew are full of information on the History of the area along with sea life knowledge. Go to Kolua Ranch for an ATV adventure, Pearl Harbor is a must. We took the tour which included a tour through Waikiki and Honolulu, they share a lot of history along the way. The only regret we have is we didn't feel we had enough time at Pearl Harbor itself.

The Dole Plantation will surprise you, take the train ride and learn about the agriculture and pineapple crops themselves. Try the Pineapple Ice Cream, it's delicious. We also attended a Luau, shopped in downtown Honolulu (best souvenirs are at the Swap Meet at Aloha Stadium and the ABC Stores). I don't recommend Parasailing, my sister in law and I both feel it's not worth the $$) Drive around the entire Island, there are plenty of places for you to stop and check out the view and when you're feeling a bit hungry be sure to stop at the HULA DOG truck in Haleiwa. You'll be craving them when you're gone!

We highly recommend this house, Taiana is great to work with and you won't be disappointed.

We'll be back, I can't imagine staying anywhere else on Oahu

Our favorite house on the island

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have rented 9 houses on the island over the years. This is by far our favorite. In fact it is our third time staying here. We would stay here all the time but it's far from where our daughter lives. Even so we come back here because it is such a beautiful home at a great location! If you are lucky enough to find available dates you will not be sorry if you book. I can't tell you enough how clean and comfortable and well maintained this property is!! We will return here for every visit. Thank you Richard and Tiana for everything!!

Great property, great location, "real Oahu"

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time near the northwestern tip of Oahu. The area is convenient to everywhere on the island by vehicle (45 mins to 1 hr), with a relaxing drive through the agricultural part of the island, hitting only a little traffic on the way to Honolulu or elsewhere SW/SE. The ocean out the back door, beaches just down the road, mountains on the other side of the street, seeing sunrise/sunsets both from your backyard --it all made for an amazing stay.

The property was in great shape, clean, as listed, and was plenty of room for our party of six. It was warm inside after coming back in the afternoons, but as soon as the oceanside doors were open, the house was instantly cool again. The kids even got a little cold at night, so heat isn't a problem, although the humidity takes a few days to get used to.

Plenty of extra amenities made the trip easier: beach towels, boogie boards, cooler--these definitely came in handy. Kitchen was well-stocked (even a blender for smoothies/milkshakes when we weren't eating shave ice). Large DVD selection if you want to spend time indoors (this is Hawaii). The kids would have liked a backyard beach, but still amazing views. Front fence helped with privacy and car noise from semi-busy road. Area felt safe with two kids camps nearby.

Great hikes 2 & 3 miles away, quickly rising to amazing ocean views in the mountainous state park across the road and a 2.5 mi hike that gives amazing sunrise views from the absolute northwest tip of the island. Each of these trailheads is accessible by car in 5 mins--some of the premier hikes on the island. For hang-gliding or sky-diving, the airfield across the street is where many go on the island for this--staying here avoids the hour drive from Waikiki. The North Shore was 30 minutes away, Waikiki 50 mins with traffic, Turtle Bay (snorkeling), Turtle Beach (sea turtles) 25-30 mins away on the north shore. Oceanfront horseback riding & polo 1/2 mile south. Beautiful ocean sunsets anywhere along the road 1-3 miles north to the tip if you aren't satisfied with the one out your back door.

Plan ahead for groceries: 22 mins to Foodland, but Costco right off H2N is 30 mins away (cheapest gas in Oahu). For those seeking the "real local" experience, with activities that won't be packed with busloads of tourists getting dumped off with you, this is the place to stay to hit those remote stops.

We'd stay here again when we're in Oahu, and recommend others stay here.

Peaceful Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated our 35th anniversary on Oahu and stayed in this lovely home for a week. The home had everything we needed for our stay. We sat out on the back deck every evening enjoying the sight and sound of the ocean. This home is highly recommended if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The laid back atmosphere of the north shore was just what we needed. If we should ever make it back to Oahu, this is where we will stay.

Car: necessary

Come stay where people come to get away from the crowds and relax in our Hawaiian style cottage. Only 9 minutes to the historic town of Hale'iwa (site for 'Baywatch')with unique art, shopping and restaurants and 15 minutes to Waimea Bay and Botanical Gardens.

The famous North Shore surf breaks are within a 15 minute drive, including Pipeline and Sunset Beach. You can fish right off the seawall. There is a wide variety of excellent restaurants and great water sport activities right here.

For the golfers, Turtle Bay Golf and Tennis Resort is just a 30 minute drive, and Kahuku Golf just 40.

There are no hotels in Mokuleia and almost empty white sand beaches go for miles in both directions. It is also a site for the TV Series 'Lost'.
