We had a pleasant week here on Damariscotta Lake. We enjoyed sitting by the lake, watching loons, ducks, and osprey go by the gradual entry, sandy beach. The home was well-appointed and comfortable. We made good use of the screened porch, always a handy feature to have in mosquito-rich New England. Having Wi-Fi on site was a big plus; we even had signal at the water's edge. The property was situated relatively close to town and other local places of interest. The owner was very friendly and easy to work with, before and after our stay. The only thing that kept us from leaving a 5-star review was that the beach was shared between three cottages, and the two families on either side of us were there together, so there were a lot of people at the beach every day. In particular, daily use of jet skis made our stay a bit less quiet than we had preferred. The people in the other properties were nice and tried to be accommodating, but be aware that the beach is shared and your experience may vary. If you are vacationing with another family and kids, then try to rent both this cottage and one of the adjacent homes for the same week to give you a perfect group spot.
The lake house has all the amenities you could ask for, and more. This is the third year my husband and I have rented the home for our vacation and would definitely recommend it for a great Maine vacation.
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful lakefront home this past week and had such a great time. The lake is beautiful and the home is well equipped for a relaxing vacation. We definitely recommend it to anyone looking for their next vacation spot.
We (myself, son & his family) loved the cottage and the setting so much that we have booked another week for the end of August. The children loved boating and swimming in the lake, catching frogs and turtles in the inlets, riding bikes on a quiet road, watching movies at night, and visiting family in the area. Dad, mom, and I loved having a nicely built and clean cottage, a well-equipped kitchen, supermarket nearby, washer & dryer for daily laundry, two bathrooms, TV & internet, a very peaceful setting, and short trips to nearby scenic sights and relatives. After a busy life in the city, we are counting the days till our return.
This house was perfect for us! It is clean, well maintained and equipped with extras including a rowboat, a kayak and numerous life vests. The kitchen is stocked with good pots, pans, dishes, utensils and appliances. The lake is a short walk from the house and the dock is sturdy. This made it easier for Grandma and Pappy. The sunroom facing the water allowed some of us to watch the activities at the water without having to brave the mosquitos! We had great luck fishing and have our own fish stories to tell. We enjoyed an afternoon in Damariscotta and sampled Round Top ice cream, toured Pemaquid Light House and climbed along the rocks of Pemaquid Point, and spent a day walking around and shopping in Boothbay Harbor. I would recommend this property to anyone interested in a great Maine vacation.
