Very enjoyable.

The property was exactly as represented and we had a great time. Some minor maintenance items kept us from giving it a perfect score.

WOW! Best time Ever!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been vacationing in this part of MI for years. We can honestly say this was by far one of the best homes and areas we've visited in years. The age range was from 2 to 75 and everyone had a blast. There was enough room to play, hangout, be by yourself or sit and talk with family or friends. One of the best parts was the pool! It was amazing to have a pool home so close to the beach. I don't think there was a time where the kids weren't in the pool. We had a group of 13 and the home was very comfortable for everyone. It had so many places to sit and relax. With just a short walk down the block to the beach, we were able to enjoy the fresh waters of Lake Michigan and then head back and spend the rest of the day by the pool. New Buffalo was very close and had everything you needed in the event you forgot something or wanted to get out and have a night out on the town. Great ice cream shops and restaurants. St. Joe's was also very close and fun to visit. We will be staying at this gem in the future!

Wonderful Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our family - ranging in age from 2 years old to 86 years old - just spent a wonderful, relaxing week together at this beautiful home in its gorgeous setting. We were 7 adults and a two-year-old, and we had more than enough room to sleep comfortably, to hang out together, and to have individual quiet time to read and nap. The home is well-equipped and even has bath towels and washcloths that aren't paper thin! We cooked several large family meals together and had our choice of the large dining room or screen porch to eat in. The kitchen lends itself to people eating breakfast and different times throughout the day. Our grandson had plenty of room to play in the kitchen and family room area. We even set up his play table and chairs in the kitchen. Great-grandma read and dozed on the screen porch each afternoon!

We spent hours floating in the pool and soaking in the hot tub. The beach is just a block away with great sand for making sand castles. It is quite shallow which makes it manageable for kids and middle-aged adults.

There are lots of things to do in the area. We did the winery, the train museum, shopping and lunch in St. Joe's. dinner at Redamaks, breakfast at a diner, the carousel and children's museum - well, you get the picture.

The owner is great to work with and seems to really want others to enjoy his home. We highly recommend this terrific vacation spot!

Idyllic vacation house

  • 5 of 5

Though the pictures are nice, they do not do the place justice. It's a beautiful cottage with some of the most tasteful landscaping in the area. And the owner has really thought of just about everything. Anything you need is there, from a hook to hang your towel or robe next to the hot tub, to about every type of kitchen utensil you can think of, not to mention a garage full of bikes and games, and just about anything else you could need... its a short walk from a great little beach spot to watch the sunset, and a close drive to several spots to pick up groceries.

Can't recommend it highly enough.

Could be a Spectacular Rental - But ....!

  • 3 of 5

We have just returned from our week at this first time rental. This property could be a spectacular rental if it was cleaned properly. The house has a quaint charm and has been remodeled. The pool was a great hit with our grandchildren. The property is within walking distance of the beach but the house just was not clean. The kitchen floor needed a thorough mopping. We found a dirty sock under the ottoman in the sun room. The top bunk bed in one bedroom was covered in cat hair! There was no way we could have used that bed. The refrigerator needed repair and the repairman came 3 times during out vacation to fix it - inconvenient for us and something that should have been corrected before we came. The hot tub cover was dirty with animal tracks, the pool cover needed a good hosing down. The porch floor hasn't been sweeped this season. The guest house is full of cobwebs and spiders(and there are many in the main house too). Other than set a fairly lofty price tag, the owners didn't appear to want to do much else. I immediatly called the emergency local contact number and met with their representative who was sympathtic but really couldn't do much for us unless we wanted to have a cleaning crew come in while we were there. There is nothing wrong with this house that a good cleaning crew and a maintenance crew couldn't resolve. I left a list detailing the things that needed attention. Hopefully for future renters, the owners will take note. If not, this rental is extremely overpriced.

Owner's Response: Our local representative responded more than once to address these complaints and offered to have a cleaning person come and rectify any and all issues that the renter deemed unacceptable. Each time, the offer was rejected. The house has now been rented to two more groups since this departure and not a single complaint has been received. To the contrary, the other renters have had nothing but compliments.
