Loni purchased this Chalet in 2001
Why Loni chose Royal Lagoons
'Captains Quarters' was purchased as my primary residence in 2001 and was not rented out until recently. I settled on Dauphin Island because it is the most 'laid back', relaxing place I have ever found. The fishing is fantastic, the beaches are beautiful, and the Sunsets are phenomenal!
What makes this Chalet unique
Sunsets, sunsets, sunsets!!! Fishing and crabbing off the 36' pier. Swimming or shelling a 10 minute walk on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Scooter or jet ski rentals minutes away. Bike trails, best birding in the Southeast, Audubon Park, historic Fort Gains, Dauphin Island Sea Lab and Estuarium. The best offshore Red Snapper and sports fishing in the Gulf and inshore speckled trout, white trout, flounder, crabbing and red fishing on the private pier. Mobile Bay Ferry available for day trips to Fort Morgan or Gulf Shores. The casinos of Biloxi are 1 hour away and New Orleans a short 2.5 hours away.

It met our needs perfectly.
love to fish perfect spot
Wife and I fished continuously, we didn't catch any large keepers but had fun with white trout and croakers
Main complaint, NO cleaning table/area
Beautiful and well kept property with all of the necessary amenities. Sunset view is a definite plus. Biking to local stores and restaurants is great perk.
Perfect fit for us
This property was a great fit for us on our first trip to Dauphin Island. We loved the nautical themed decor and the fishing pier right outside the back door. The price was fair and everything was exactly as described, if not better.
We really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful sunsets over the dock and had no mosquito problems at all. We did not catch any keeper fish off the dock but did feed a few throw-backs to the amusing heron that often kept us company. We did envy the boat lifts on the adjacent dock, as we had a boat with us, but this dock was much better to sit and enjoy some laid-back fishing. I would recommend caution with small children as there are no safety rails or ropes around the dock.
We found about everything needed in the house, such as coffee pot, dishwasher, washer/dryer, linens, towels, etc. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cups, seasonings, etc. I recommend taking non-stick spray if you use the skillets. One stove-top burner could use some work. You can tell that the owners do put themselves in our place and think about what we might need.
We loved the place enough that we look forward to staying here in future trips to Dauphin Island.
Loved this property. Clean, comfy, fun decor! Having our own pier to fish and crab off of made our trip! We WILL be returning here!
*Only suggested improvement: Maybe provide an additional TV in one of the other bedrooms.
This vacation was just what we needed after a few years off the island. The house was perfect except there is no longer a picnic table on the pier. We were really looking forward to utilizing it for all the time we spent fishing. We just set our chairs up on the dock instead. We caught a ton of fish including a nice 15lb redfish right off the dock. The owners were super quick to respond to any questions we had. Thanks so much for the break from the rest of the world.
