Water's Edge Bungalow is a charming Maine cottage situated on the edge of Linekin Bay, and we do mean the edge... just steps from your front porch to a private beach with spectacular views of Linekin Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The 1.5 acre property is the last home on a private lane at the tip of a small peninsula and has a secluded yard surrounded by a beautiful woods. The property has a unique stone wall with steps leading down to the water and a NEW dock and mooring. The home is decorated and furnished in traditional yet updated Maine coast cottage style. Nearby Linekin Bay Resort has an outdoor deck bar & restaurant with great food and beverages, a heated swimming pool and more. We look forward to your stay!
The Bungalow was built in the 1950's and has 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, separate small dining room, full bath and a beautiful new screened in porch overlooking the bay. The master bedroom is large and has a queen bed and a commanding water views. The second bedroom is 'cozy' with a full bed. The living room has a stone fireplace (candles only). The kitchen is simple yet well equipped and there is an outdoor dining area and a 6-burner stainless steel gas grill. NEW in 2015, we just completed a beautiful Screen in porch on the front of the house overlooking the bay. There is a washer and dryer in the house.

Mark purchased this cottage in 2010
Views, privacy and access to the protected bay are second to none in mid coast Maine. The new 95' dock and float provide easy boating access and a great place to fish and relax.
95' dock, float and mooring.
We only had a weekend to spare, but since it was early in the season Mark allowed us to stay here for only a couple of nights - which only made us wish we had longer.
Communication was excellent, questions answered promptly via e-mail. We were given lots of information about the area before we came, too.
Furnishings were in good repair and COMFORTABLE. The weather was too chilly to sit outside for too long but the cottage interior was inviting and we had a great time just relaxing.
The kitchen seemed to have every gadget you could think of needing.
The fenced-in yard was a great touch as our two dogs are fond of going off on their own and it gets wearying to always have them on a leash. Instead, we could sit out (briefly) in the adirondack chairs and know they were safe. Boothbay Harbor is so close, and there are so many Land Preserves to hike in, that a week wouldn't even be enough time here.
I'd definitely come again.
We wanted a waterfront cottage for a quiet, relaxing escape. Ideally it would be somewhere we could swim, cycle, kayak/paddleboard, hike, go for runs, golf, find good restaurants and spectacular scenery. We found all of this and more at Brian and Mark's cottage. The cottage itself is well appointed and cozy, and Brian and Mark go the extra mile to cater to their guests - the fridge was stocked with many items to welcome us - things we would have purchased for the week (saved us about $20-40), but likely would not have finished and would not have taken away with us (condiments, spices, cooking ingredients etc. etc.). Having rented a number of cottages/homes in various locales, this was a welcome and thoughtful touch. The rooms are nicely furnished, with plenty of books and dvd's available. Comfortable furniture, lots of light and an incredible view from the main bedroom.
However, while all of this is great, the real allure of this property is its setting. Right on the water, overlooking the dock, the bay, and the forest. At times still and serene, and other times vibrant with wildlife, kayakers, sail boats and lobster fisherman - but never noisy. Neighbours were around, but we never heard or noticed anyone - partly due to the orientation of the house focusing on the bay and forest. Even with Linekin Bay Resort just 5 mins walk away, we heard nothing.
Grocery stores are 5-10 mins away. Boothbay Harbour's downtown, with its shopping and restaurants, is 5 mins away. The many Nature Preserves are beautiful for light hikes in the woods. All in all, a fantastic cottage. We were sorry to leave and we hope to return again.
Thanks again Brian and Mark.
Pets are welcome at this cottage which was one of the main reasons we decided to stay there. We were pleasantly surprised to find the property was fenced in and did not have to worry about our dog wandering off and getting lost. One evening we brought our lobster dinners back to the cottage and ate outside watching the boats on the water. It was very relaxing sitting by the ocean and a great time overall. Mark was one of the most accommodating and responsive owners we've had the pleasure of dealing with. We look forward to going back next year.
A great Welcome to Maine spot. Great area for the kids to
play on the lawn and at the private beach area. Lots of room
even had visitors over for a lobster bake.
Walking distance to Boothbay Harbor
Owner was great to deal with. Will be back!
