My wife and I have been to most Hawaiian islands. Maui is our favorite. Pat and Gil's condo in Kapalua is the only place to stay. The views are terrific and it is nice to hear the ocean from your bed and enjoy the ever present trade winds. Their description of their property is very accurate, but you need to be there to experience the beauty.
Restaurants and beautiful beaches are practically at your door step. Some of the best snorkeling anywhere on Maui.
Just go and enjoy, you'll be delighted. If we could give then 10 stars we would.

We were at the Ridge at Kapalua in March of this year and we had a wonderful time! We were 4 people (me, my wife and our two daughters). We entered the property to be welcomed by some Hawaiian chocolate and a bottle of wine!
The property is a 1 bedroom two-story unit with the living room, kitchen and a bathroom downstairs, and a larger bedroom upstairs with its own bathroom. The living room sofa-bed made the living room a second bedroom. The carpet was worn a bit but it was not bad. The kitchen was well stocked with everything that is needed for stay – Hawaii is expensive, and so we appreciated the ability to buy and cook at least 1-2 meals a day. My recommendation is to visit Costco upon arrival (it is right next to the Kahului airport).
The unit is air-conditioned but in the 10 days or so we stayed there, we did not need it since the breeze was more or less continuous. Pat warned me that the breeze sometimes was strong enough to rattle the wall-hangings, and she was right! What we liked most were the two Lanai’s – one upstairs and one downstairs. The view of the Pacific was excellent, and many mornings, we saw whales breaching! I took a video of this since my friends wouldn’t believe me otherwise. The beach is a short 5-8 minute walk down, and not crowded. The unit provided towels, beach umbrellas, coolers etc. that we could take to the beach.
The Kapalua area itself looked exclusive and a bit on the posh side. There is a store in the neighborhood (The Honolua store) and quite a few restaurants not very far from there (including the Gazebo). The furnishings were comfortable (though the carpet could use replacement) and served our needs. The washer dryer in the unit made it possible to pack light. Pat was very gracious and had a tropical flower arrangement delivered to us the day after we arrived. 4.5 stars on account of the worn carpeting, but on the whole, you will not be disappointed with staying here.
When my husband and I decided on Maui for our destination wedding (we're from NY), we looked everywhere for a place to stay that would provide all the comforts of home. We did not want a hotel. Pat and Gil were very helpful, honest, and lovely to work with--from our first inquiry into their rental and all the way to the end of our stay. Their home in Kapalua was everything that we could hope for. It was clean and spacious. We actually got married at one of the beautiful beaches on the property! The views were amazing. My husband and I spent many nights eating dinner on the balcony and watching the sunset.
I would highly recommend Pat and Gil's home to anyone looking for a memorable, peaceful stay in Maui!
fine time, lovely experience. well-appointed and comfortable condo, gracious hosts, great location in quiet kapalua, walk to beach. terrific price. great views. my favorite single thing was the exquisite breeze (sometimes more of a gale) in the unit--previous week, stayed in wailea and had to use AC a lot, not at all in kapalua. could hear ocean waves all the time in the condo--loved that sound. overall, 1st rate experience, recommend without hesitation-- i plan to repeat my visit.
We stayed at Pat and Gil's condo for our total of eight days in Maui. Kapalua is the most pristine place you could stay in the area. Grounds are manicured if anything were to fall there is someone there to pick it up. The condo is within easy walking distance of several beaches, excellent restaurants, the Ritz Carlton and it's golf course and also very close to the grocery store just in case you forgot to get something at Costco. In the condo we found everything we needed to make our stay more than home away from home. Laying in bed and listening to the ocean was the best sound we could wake up to. And there were also birds singing out the window. Such a nice atmosphere. The views from the lanai and the balcony were to die for. Most of our free time was spent walking. We took Pat and Gil's advice in the written instructions to go for happy hour when prices were somewhat more reasonable than going for a full dinner later. We tried most of the restaurants that were suggested in the written instructions left for us. We loved the flowers and the candy. That was a surprise. The only thing that we could think to suggest would be to put the code for access to Internet closer to the TV. We found it at the modem but the modem is not in plain sight. The views from the lanai and the balcony were to die for. We are already talking about returning sometime next year.
