My wife and I have been to most Hawaiian islands. Maui is our favorite. Pat and Gil's condo in Kapalua is the only place to stay. The views are terrific and it is nice to hear the ocean from your bed and enjoy the ever present trade winds. Their description of their property is very accurate, but you need to be there to experience the beauty.
Restaurants and beautiful beaches are practically at your door step. Some of the best snorkeling anywhere on Maui.
Just go and enjoy, you'll be delighted. If we could give then 10 stars we would.

fine time, lovely experience. well-appointed and comfortable condo, gracious hosts, great location in quiet kapalua, walk to beach. terrific price. great views. my favorite single thing was the exquisite breeze (sometimes more of a gale) in the unit--previous week, stayed in wailea and had to use AC a lot, not at all in kapalua. could hear ocean waves all the time in the condo--loved that sound. overall, 1st rate experience, recommend without hesitation-- i plan to repeat my visit.
We stayed at Pat and Gil's condo for our total of eight days in Maui. Kapalua is the most pristine place you could stay in the area. Grounds are manicured if anything were to fall there is someone there to pick it up. The condo is within easy walking distance of several beaches, excellent restaurants, the Ritz Carlton and it's golf course and also very close to the grocery store just in case you forgot to get something at Costco. In the condo we found everything we needed to make our stay more than home away from home. Laying in bed and listening to the ocean was the best sound we could wake up to. And there were also birds singing out the window. Such a nice atmosphere. The views from the lanai and the balcony were to die for. Most of our free time was spent walking. We took Pat and Gil's advice in the written instructions to go for happy hour when prices were somewhat more reasonable than going for a full dinner later. We tried most of the restaurants that were suggested in the written instructions left for us. We loved the flowers and the candy. That was a surprise. The only thing that we could think to suggest would be to put the code for access to Internet closer to the TV. We found it at the modem but the modem is not in plain sight. The views from the lanai and the balcony were to die for. We are already talking about returning sometime next year.
Kapalua is a special place! Pat & Gil's apartment has been a highlight and has made our annual trip even that more special!
My husband and I stayed at Pat & Gil's condo for two weeks. This is a roomy condo with fantastic views and a great location. Pat and Gil are very conscientious owners that sincerely care about the quality of their guest's visits. We had a few questions while we were there and they were very responsive. We also had a little trouble with the lock on the door when we first got there (our fault) and called their local contact Don. Don came right over and helped us out.
Although we were there before whale season, we did see a whale from the lanai on the first day of our stay. The views from both lanais are just fantastic!
We had stayed at the ridge before, but in a two bedroom unit when we traveled with another couple. We knew from that visit that we loved the location. Quiet, fantastic views, roomy condos, nice walks right in the immediate area.
Mornings would typically start with an early morning walk to the Honolua store for reasonably priced coffee and tea lattes. Honolua opens at 6:00 am and is just shy of 1 mile away. After that, you can take the same route back, or take Kapalua Dr. near Honolua and meander down by the Sea House restaurant area and then hit the Kapalua coastal trail to make a nice longer loop.
The Sea House has great banana macadamia nut pancakes that are baked & so fluffy. Pineapple Grill has great options and I just loved their fish tacos.
808 Grindz in Lahaina is a little local no frills breakfast place. Their shredded pork moco is amazing. Honu in Lahaina is our favorite all around spot to eat.
We grocery shopped at Times and Foodland. Much higher than mainland prices, but that is to be expected. Many go to Costco which is near the airport.
Our primary activities were hiking/walking and snorkeling. The Tommy Bahama chairs in carport closet were perfect! Lightweight, easy to transport (had straps where you could carry them like a backpack), and comfortable. The big thick beach towels at the condo were superb. We used the little soft sided cooler from the closet. The main zipper did not work, but that was never a problem for us. Upon returning for the day, we found the spigot at the carport (on the outside of one of the columns) really worked well for a spot to rinse off shoes and gear. There is also spigot by the entry door, but we preferred the one by the carport.
We did not use the pools, but did take a look at them. They are very well maintained, have gas grills, and clean restrooms.
The first thing that you notice is the view- it has a wonderful view of D.T. Fleming beach, and of the northwest tip of the island. Once inside, the condo is clean, nicely appointed, and well-kept. Upstairs, the bedroom is bright and airy (caution: the sun WILL greet you heartily in the AM!), with a nice lanai… (and did I mention “the view”?)
Pat was wonderful to work with – during the week leading to our vacation , three (count ‘em - THREE!!) Pacific hurricanes were lurking near the islands (one had passed, two were on deck) – Pat kept in contact with us and pledged to be of assistance if we’d had our trip (or departure delayed) – luckily , the storms missed, and a great time was had by all!
Since this was our first stay in West Maui (we'd always gone to Wailea/Makena, to the south), we didn't appreciate how quiet, yet convenient Kapalua is for visitors- a great sushi restaurant nearby, Sansei, captured our hearts (and, b'leive it or not, was not terribly expensive...), and for breakfast remember one word: "The Gazebo" (Ok... it's two, but I still remember, fondly, the Fried Rice w. Egg and the Mac Nut pancakes, so sue me, already...)
There were some minor maintenance items, but nothing that would dent your overall experience...
All in-all, and large this was a wonderful place and we are looking forward to returning to Pat and Gil's in Kapalua! "Mahalo!", to Pat and Gil!
