Just wanted to write and let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the Capt. Johnson House last week. We were very comfortable and the house was comfortable and just perfect. I understand from your niece that you were responsible for the design and renovation. You did a fantastic job.
We’ve rented many homes in Florida and in Park City over the years and your home was the most comfortable and beautifully appointed.
Thank you again for a memorable stay.
Awesome home located on a really cool island . The house has "everything"....including a professional chef kitchen. Beautiful view of the water and Cook's Lobster house, and another great restaurant within walking distance. We ate lobster 6 out of 7 nights (you can cook them at the house!). The decor and amenities of the house is superb. The island is really quaint, and the people superb as well. Beautiful scenery every day close enough tosee Portland and other areas. House was in great shape. Brett was super, but we never needed anything. It was all there!!
My family of 5 loved the opportunity to spend 4 nights in this beautiful home. The setting is gorgeous with views galore. The house had everything we needed to keep our 3 kids happy and comfortable. The island and neighboring area was perfect for outdoor activities. We would love to return again.
We were looking for a place on Casco Bay that could serve as the hub of our small company's annual retreat. The Captain Lawrence E. Johnson house more than fit the bill! There was plenty of room for dinners and meetings, and the views from the rooftop deck were spectacular. Very good communication with owners. Well, well worth it!
Our stay started in the evening, so we were not able to get the full impression of the home until the morning. That first evening was spent casually touring the home and all it had to offer, which was everything you could really need for a little vacation and more. From the wonderfully laid out kitchen, to the open living room and dining room, there was little need for anything to be comfortable. The cozy den in the cornerof the home, sharing a fireplace with the living room was a lovely start to our first morning. Of course, the views were terrific and from the roof top deck, you can see a 360 panorama of Casco Bay and Harpswell Sound. World famous Cooks Lobster House is clearly visible from the dining room and front deck and well within walking distance. That first morning did pose the first issue we experienced during our stay in that the bed was so comfortable and the sunlight streaming through the windows made it difficult to get up (a problem we faced each morning).
We renewed our wedding vows that Saturday and had no issues with parking (there's a little spot to park extra cars just before you reach the house on the main road). There was never a question whether or not we could entertain the number of people who arrived and all the room provided us an wonderful, intimate and easy gathering of family and friends. With some hired kitchen help, the lobster, clams and beverages flowed throughout the afternoon and everyone was sated. There was plenty of seating for everyone, and room for the kids to move around (the basement houses a wonderful entertainment area that resembles a small movie theater and most of the kids spent their time there).
Overall, our trip was wonderful and we hope to plan another stay there soon. I have suggested this venue to several friends and passed the pictures on to them. A wonderful home away from home.
First of all, the house is beautiful. The ocean views are amazing, especially from the rooftop deck. My wife and I were married in a small private ceremony on Nov. 2nd 2013. All our guests had their own private bedrooms and baths, which made for a great environment for our combined families meeting for the first time. We had the event catered, and our caterer was able to decorate the dining room to our tastes, while taking advantage of the fully equipped gourmet kitchen to prepare the meals. There is tons of space for entertaining, and on our two-night stay, we barely used all the space. I highly recommend the Captain Lawrence E. Johnson house as an excellent location for a small to medium sized friends and family getaway.
This was our second visit and it was as wonderful as the first. The property is as lovely as it appears in the photos - the kitchen is superb. The area is perfect for a long weekend getaway.
