Still availability in Fall!
Built in 2009, this 2167 square feet, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath log home with 2 covered decks, a spacious screened porch and a two-car garage is located near Brevard/Rosman, NC, in Transylvania County, NC the “Land of Waterfalls”. If you want to enjoy gourmet dining, shopping, tubing, rafting, fly-fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, golf, tennis, horseback riding, visiting beautiful Hendersonville and Asheville, NC and the Biltmore House and/or sightseeing along the famous Blue Ridge Parkway or Pisgah National Forest, most are within a 30-minute drive of our wonderful Cabin in the Trees and all are within about an hour’s drive.
If you just want to hang out and don’t want to get back in the car. No problem - There’s no better place to hang. Sit and relax in one of the locally crafted rocking chairs on the porch or pull up a recliner and lounge on the back deck from sun up to sun down breaking only for snacks, lunch and a nap by the fire. Year Round Views are plentiful with Hogback Mountain (aka Toxaway Lake Mountain) on the western horizon, always fun to watch as weather changes and it disappears and reappears through the mist following a dramatic summer shower. Brilliant sunsets after a storm can be breath-taking. Every sunset is different. Listening to the summer insect orchestra is entertaining as well.
Or load your backpack with snacks and your favorite beverage, walk out the front door and hike for about an hour to the top of Joshua Summit. Look for deer and locally famous “White Squirrels” along the way. The panoramic view of the Brevard area and surrounding mountains is breathtaking.
A short hike from Joshua Road and down Line Runner Ridge Road, turn right on Highway 178 (aka Pickens Highway) for 1/2 mile will lead you to Mountain View and one of Transylvania’s most arresting waterfalls. It is privately-owned but the owners welcome guests. In case anyone’s home, you might want to let them know you’re there.
If you’re into tubing, canoeing, rafting, kayaking, camping and/or fly fishing, we’ve found the friendly people at Headwaters Outfitters to be very helpful. They offer fly fishing lessons and guided floats (or up) the French Broad River (which flows the wrong way.) Their friendly staff has always been glad to answer any questions about the area you might have. They can even take you on a float to Brevard or Asheville.
For a sample menu for dining in Brevard (about a 20 minute-drive), we recommend you visit the Hobknob Restaurant on West Main Street, the Square Root, and/or the Falls Landing Restaurant. We have had good meals at all of them. Dress is informal.
After your meal, browse the streets of Brevard. You will find unique shops of almost any kind imaginable. Art Galleries are all over for some of the finest pottery and local artwork.
For the not so young but still young at heart with maybe a grandchild or two, be sure to browse OP Taylors Toy Store on the corner of Broad and Main Streets.

Welcome to our Cabin in the Trees. We are the McFall Family. We built our cabin in 2009 and have enjoyed every opportunity we have had to visit. Now we want others to enjoy what we have so enjoyed.
Anna McFall purchased this cabin in 2009
For the outdoor enthusiast, the Rosman / Brevard area offers so much to do and see: Hiking, Biking - some of the best mountain and road biking around, Fly Fishing (some of the best in the country), Climbing, Swimming, Tubing, Rafting, Kayaking, Repelling, Trail Running, wildlife viewing. Shopping, Dining, conveniently located near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Toxaway, Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Forest. Music Festivals....Art Galleries, What more could you ask for.
We always venture into Brevard for shopping or dining. Great meals at Hobknob, The Square Root, Marco Trattoria. Menus and Info are all in our Cabin Guide/Book. We usually try to check out a waterfall and a hike. They are plentiful in the area. Also, one of the owners is an avid triathlete. He can give tips on the road biking, mountain biking and trail running in the area. We have road biking maps available at the cabin as well.
We had a wonderful time, and the cabin was extremely nice and had all the amenities – the view from the balcony being the highlight. Extremely relaxed after 3 solid mountainbiking days (2 in Dupont and 1 in Pisgah – the Pisgah ride kicked our behinds by the way).
Thanks again, and your cabin will top the list if we are going back to the Brevard area, which we plan on. I’ll do a rave review on VRBO for you
We had a group of family and friends staying in town for a wedding. The Cabin in the Trees gave us a gathering spot. We hosted a cook out with future in laws. It made it much more relaxing than a restaurant.
We had space to have quiet time, to gather, to laugh, remember days gone by, and make many new memories. We shared morning coffee, made quick plans, and a relaxing place to come to at the end of each busy day!
The views were spectacular!
Thank you for having such a cozy spot to call "home" for a few days!
Highly recommend! Great People to work with. Very well maintained! There are a lot of things to do- something for everybody! Very quiet, very relaxing!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed The Cabin in the Trees! The covered decks were spacious as well as the home. It is within an easy driving distance to Pisgah National Forest, Brevard and to Asheville. My only regret is that we did not stay longer. My 6 year old grandson cried and "ran away' when we had to leave this morning.
I highly recommend this property and hope others enjoy it as much as we did.
Thank you, Anna, for staying in touch. Any questions we had were answered immediately.
From the moment you arrive you can tell that this is an inviting home that will feel like...home. Use of the double garage, fenced yard so dogs can be let out, a floor plan that allows guests privacy, three separate porches to enjoy, fully stocked kitchen, full size washer and dryer, board games, books, darts, and more.
Driving directions were accurate, inside and outside were clean, great porch furniture, all lights worked, I emailed questions to the owner who answered them promptly, and we (wife, 2 daughters, son-in-law, and grandson) agreed this was the best cabin we've ever rented.
We visited Dupont State Recreational Park and Pisgah National Forest, Triple Falls, High Falls, Looking Glass Falls, and Sliding Rock. Only ate in Brevard at 3 excellent places: Rocky's Grill and Soda Shop, Mayberry's Soup and Sandwiches, and Pescado’s Burritos.
Loved the views, the comfort of cabin and the furnishings, Wish we could have stayed longer!!
This house has spectacular views with an awesome sunset over the mountain across the valley. The location was perfect for waterfall hunting with one of the best just 5 minutes away at Eastatoe falls. A very short drive to multiple spots on highway 215. We like being off the road and this home is about a mile up the gravel, but was easily passable in my daughter's small, low riding SUV. It was nice to have access to the garage also. The home was well equipped with all that we needed, including spices, oil etc. We used some and left some for those who follow. The furniture in the living area was fantastic! We are looking for a set like it for our home now. There was more than enough room for us and our 6 adult sized kids. We mostly congregated together for games, conversation and football, but it was easy to find a spot for our individual quiet time. We never found the trail from the home to the top of the summit, but admittedly didn't look very hard, as we had plenty to do. We thoroughly enjoyed the long weekend and will return in the future. I have already highly recommended this home. Thank you.
We had a delightful time in this lovely cabin in the mountains. The view was spectacular! The leaves were changing colors and so beautiful. We enjoyed
seeing several waterfalls, and shopping in Brevard. We ate in and appreciated the well equipped kitchen. The cabin was comfortable and roomy.
Some of the best fly fishing in the country is located just minutes from the cabin. Sapphire Valley for local snow tubing / snow skiing / boarding available - 30 minute drive towards Cashiers. Waterfalls surround the whole area. They are everywhere. We are just a short 3 minute drive to the closest one.
