About the property

Cabin, 4 BR, 3.5 BA, 3 levels with decks and yr round views (Sleeps 8)

Built in 2009, this 2167 square feet, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath log home with 2 covered decks, a spacious screened porch and a two-car garage is located near Brevard/Rosman, NC, in Transylvania County, NC the “Land of Waterfalls”. If you want to enjoy gourmet dining, shopping, tubing, rafting, fly-fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, golf, tennis, horseback riding, visiting beautiful Hendersonville and Asheville, NC and the Biltmore House and/or sightseeing along the famous Blue Ridge Parkway or Pisgah National Forest, most are within a 30-minute drive of our wonderful Cabin in the Trees and all are within about an hour’s drive.

If you just want to hang out and don’t want to get back in the car. No problem - There’s no better place to hang. Sit and relax in one of the locally crafted rocking chairs on the porch or pull up a recliner and lounge on the back deck from sun up to sun down breaking only for snacks, lunch and a nap by the fire. Year Round Views are plentiful with Hogback Mountain (aka Toxaway Lake Mountain) on the western horizon, always fun to watch as weather changes and it disappears and reappears through the mist following a dramatic summer shower. Brilliant sunsets after a storm can be breath-taking. Every sunset is different. Listening to the summer insect orchestra is entertaining as well.

Or load your backpack with snacks and your favorite beverage, walk out the front door and hike for about an hour to the top of Joshua Summit. Look for deer and locally famous “White Squirrels” along the way. The panoramic view of the Brevard area and surrounding mountains is breathtaking.

A short hike from Joshua Road and down Line Runner Ridge Road, turn right on Highway 178 (aka Pickens Highway) for 1/2 mile will lead you to Mountain View and one of Transylvania’s most arresting waterfalls. It is privately-owned but the owners welcome guests. In case anyone’s home, you might want to let them know you’re there.

If you’re into tubing, canoeing, rafting, kayaking, camping and/or fly fishing, we’ve found the friendly people at Headwaters Outfitters to be very helpful. They offer fly fishing lessons and guided floats (or up) the French Broad River (which flows the wrong way.) Their friendly staff has always been glad to answer any questions about the area you might have. They can even take you on a float to Brevard or Asheville.

For a sample menu for dining in Brevard (about a 20 minute-drive), we recommend you visit the Hobknob Restaurant on West Main Street, the Square Root, and/or the Falls Landing Restaurant. We have had good meals at all of them. Dress is informal.

After your meal, browse the streets of Brevard. You will find unique shops of almost any kind imaginable. Art Galleries are all over for some of the finest pottery and local artwork.

For the not so young but still young at heart with maybe a grandchild or two, be sure to browse OP Taylors Toy Store on the corner of Broad and Main Streets.

About Anna McFall

Welcome to our Cabin in the Trees. We are the McFall Family. We built our cabin in 2009 and have enjoyed every opportunity we have had to visit. Now we want others to enjoy what we have so enjoyed.

Anna McFall purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Anna McFall chose Brevard

For the outdoor enthusiast, the Rosman / Brevard area offers so much to do and see: Hiking, Biking - some of the best mountain and road biking around, Fly Fishing (some of the best in the country), Climbing, Swimming, Tubing, Rafting, Kayaking, Repelling, Trail Running, wildlife viewing. Shopping, Dining, conveniently located near the Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Toxaway, Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Forest. Music Festivals....Art Galleries, What more could you ask for.

What makes this cabin unique

We always venture into Brevard for shopping or dining. Great meals at Hobknob, The Square Root, Marco Trattoria. Menus and Info are all in our Cabin Guide/Book. We usually try to check out a waterfall and a hike. They are plentiful in the area. Also, one of the owners is an avid triathlete. He can give tips on the road biking, mountain biking and trail running in the area. We have road biking maps available at the cabin as well.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time, and the cabin was extremely nice and had all the amenities – the view from the balcony being the highlight. Extremely relaxed after 3 solid mountainbiking days (2 in Dupont and 1 in Pisgah – the Pisgah ride kicked our behinds by the way).

Thanks again, and your cabin will top the list if we are going back to the Brevard area, which we plan on. I’ll do a rave review on VRBO for you

Amazing family retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed for Thanksgiving and had a great time! Everyone told me how perfect the cabin was and that they would love to come back. Nice and secluded, like we wanted but a short 10 min drive to Rosman IGA that surprisingly had a large selection!

We did the hike to Eastatoe falls one day. Easy hike but WHEW that hill on the way back up!

Drive 1 hour to Biltmore had a great long day

But honestly one,of the best parts about the area was Gorges State Park. Honestly best I'vee ever been too! Amazing trails and overlooks.

Cabin was well equipped, and super comfortable. We made such great memories and will absolutely be back

Everyone had a great time. Property matched description

  • 5 of 5

There were 7 of us. The property worked out great. Everyone was comfortable and there is plenty of living space, which there is actually two living spaces, one on main floor and one in the walk out basement. We will definitely consider staying at this property again for future trips to Brevard.

Awesome stay in this cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. It couldn't have been better. Scenery was gorgeous and all appliances worked, also very clean and cute cabin decor. We would definitely recommend this cabin. Close proximity to Brevard was great for eating out and hiking.

When you first arrive, you will know immediately that you made the right choice. The cabin is very spacious, and the outdoor decks make a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee as well as a place to view the evening sunsets. The high quality furniture inside and out is very comfortable as well. Everyone in our group had their own bedroom and bathroom - a definite plus. The indoor fireplace was great for the cooler evenings (a simple one touch remote turns it on). The cabin was also quiet inside - even during the heavy rain and wind from a tropical storm that moved in on our last day. Having a garage was also a bonus. However, if you expect to have more than four cars on site, parking space may be an issue due to the gravel road that crosses in front of the cabin. Although there is very little to no traffic on the the gravel road, there's very little frontal property. As others have mentioned, it's a short drive to Brevard or to Gorges State Park to hike, view waterfalls, or just to hang out for the day. So, if you're looking for a secluded and quiet location in the mountains with a great view, this is the cabin to rent. It truly is a home away from home.

If you are thinking about renting this place, stop thinking and rent it before someone else snaps it up. This place lacks nothing except you and your family or friends staying there. The only negative to the whole place is that you will eventually have to leave. It has everything you need, a great location, and depending on how many of you are there, plenty of room and porches to hang out on. Just a short drive to Brevard, waterfalls, etc., or just hang at the house. You can't go wrong with this place, we would love to come back again sometime.

The cabin accomodated our family perfectly. Easily accessible, conveniently located yet very private and quiet. I would recommend this cabin and Anna quickly responded to all emails. We hope to return to the area again and will stay at The Cabin in the Trees if it's available. Thank you for sharing your cabin with others!
