On a wooded 2 acres, down a private road, this cottage sits less than 50 feet from the waters of Narragansett Bay. Take a refreshing swim, explore the beach, set-off from the mooring to cruise the bay, or relax and enjoy the view to the sound of waves gently lapping on the shore. In the evening enjoy a sunset across the bay. This fully furnished beach-front cottage is the perfect spot to host a family reunion or enjoy a quiet get-away.
Bristol, RI: The town of Bristol, settled in 1680 around a deep-water harbor, features several historic sites, a charming town center and a variety of restaurant choices. Conveniently located roughly half-way between Providence and Newport, Bristol provides an excellent jumping-off point for exploring this corner of New England.
1950's bayside cottage tucked deep in the woods, complete with attic fan to suck in the sea breeze and a kitchen equipped to feed the masses. Not fancy and a perfect spot for the family reunion we enjoyed gathered on the back patio with the bay in full view or lingering around the dining table or in the living room. It was comfortable for all.
The photos that were up on the listing don't fully capture the charm of this house. it is a quaint but spacious 1950's house with just the right blend of privacy and views. It is sorrounded by bold modern mansions designed to capture the look of classic New England cottages. They pale in comparison to the actual down to earth charm this place has. The beach is a bit rugged but is an endless font of shell collecting, wandering and musing. The place was a bit musty here and there but has an incredible vent system in place to air it and it wasn't a problem. There is a nice combo of shade and sun here for all tastes. loved every minute of it and it was hard to leave.
Came for a family wedding with a party of 8 and ended up falling in love with a home and the town of Bristol! The mushroom was in a magical setting surrounded by beautiful foliage. The house was very private and had everything you could need. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of towels, the fireplace was great for the one cold night we were there. Beautiful views from the house and backyard. The beach was amazing, we walked every morning each way and it was so peaceful. Lots of things for kids to do and explore, found lots of sea glass. The town of bristol was very close and was the perfect New England town. The Beehive cafe is a must!!! Owners were very helpful and easy to communicate with. We didn't want to leave, and will definitely be visiting again!!
Eight family members stayed for 3 nights for nearby wedding. This is truly a cozy gem. The home is spacious, more so than the pictures reveal. The beds have very comfortable mattresses and bedding in every room, every bed. Not fancy but very soft sheets, wonderful pillows. Lots of extra towels, bedding, and typical household supplies. Kitchen well stocked with all you need though we ate out and at the wedding festivities. Many delicious restaurants such as Quitos- fabulous lobster rolls and Agave for well prepared seafood dishes- all is very fresh. There is a seafood market very close to the house. Gorgeous views and property. Many beautiful homes and mansions surrounding the area. State park is beautiful. Great area for cycling, walking and all water sports. We did not want to leave after just 3 days. Could have easily stayed a week. The owners are communicative and easy to work with- very helpful with all info supplied and brochures for exploring the area. The town of Bristol is a truly charming New England seaside village- we loved it!!!
we loved the location and property. the views were amazing and we loved the private beach. we hung out on the porch swing and looked at the water and the passing boats. we had a fire inside in the family room each night. the house was very accommodating to our family. it was perfect for our needs. we had a great family croquet game on the front lawn overlooking the ocean. we would love to go back!
The Mushroom is a hidden gem. A beautiful, isolated spot, right on the bay, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quaint cottage. The description online can't do justice to waking up with the ocean outside your door. Everything about our long weekend was just perfect. If you're looking for luxury accommodations this probably isn't your place but with two baths, a refreshing outdoor shower and plenty of lawn space, our party of 8 was crushed when we had to leave. I look forward to returning to this special spot.
Located on two wooded acres bordering Narragansett Bay, the house provides guests a welcoming retreat from the bustle of life. Down a short path await a rock and shell-covered beach and the refreshing water of the bay. Though secluded, the cottage is just a 4 mile drive or bike ride around the head of Bristol Harbor from Bristol's historic town center.
Other Activities: The scenic 14 mile East Bay bike path is just a short ride away. Located on a former train right-of-way, it provides both the enthusiast and the beginner a fun adventure as it winds through towns, across bridges, into woods and along the bay. Bikes can be rented in Bristol or nearby Warren, RI.
Narragansett Bay is boaters mecca. Sail, kayak or motor around its many inlets and islands. Rent your own boat or take an excursion. With several runs a-day, the ferry out Bristol provides an easy way to see the bay and explore Prudence Island for the day.
Or take relaxing stroll on the beach in front of the cottage and enjoy a sunset over the Bay from the comfort of the porch swing.
