Private-True Log Cabin on Pristine Spider Lake & Washburn County Forest

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps up to14)

This spacious three bedroom log cabin was built using logs from the property. It sits on a wooded private lake-front lot on the beautiful Spider Lake Chain in northwest Wisconsin. Enjoy complete privacy at all views! Listen to the loons; watch the eagles soar and get a close-up glimpse of deer and other wildlife as our property butts up to the Washburn County Forest offering privacy all around.

The best part about our cabin is the lake! Spider Lake is a chain of 5 lakes, totaling roughly 300 acres. The irregular shoreline and many islands, bays and coves make every outing on Spider a wonderful discovery experience…use our canoe and paddle boat to see it all. Catch walleye, bass, bluegill, crappie, and northern from the dock or rent our 2 fishing kayaks for more fun! Swim the crystal clear waters from our swim raft in private cove, the pristine waters are heaven!

The main level of the cabin features a newly updated fully-equipped kitchen. Living room and 2 bedrooms with lake views, and full bath. Walk out onto the upper deck overlooking the lake and Washburn County Forest where there's a gas grill, plenty of furniture to relax on to watch the sunset and large table to enjoy outdoor meals.

The lower level features a Great Room with windows affording a beautiful view of the lake. Two sets of bunk beds, a daybed, pull-out couch and a game room with Foosball and another TV. A full bath and utility room with washer and dryer are also here.

Walk-out to another large deck for an afternoon siesta on the hammock or sunning on the lounge chairs.

Bask in the warmth of a nighttime fire huddled together cooking s'mores and watching the sunset. A perfect spot to make some family memories!

This is a Non-Smoking cabin. We do not rent to groups under 25 years of age.

About Sherrie

This is our family cabin. We've had many great times up here but with our busy schedules we're renting it a few weeks a month.

Sherrie purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Sherrie chose Northern Wisconsin

We fell in love with Spider Lake and waited patiently for a place to come up for sale. With the clean pristine waters, quiet peacefulness, singing loons, eagles and all around beauty, we love it!

What makes this cabin unique

We love the fact that the logs that make this cabin came from the property it sits on. Crystal clean swimming and wildlife abound. ATV trails in the summer and snowmobile trails in the winter. Shopping and dining are only a five minute drive. It's private, quiet and peaceful or plenty of room to be loud and have some fun without bothering anyone!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were pleased to find that the cabin was roomy and had everything needed for a two week vacation. It was s0 relaxing! We enjoyed using the paddle boat and canoe. It was a great vacation spot and we were thankful to find a lake home accommodating two families with dogs.

Spider Lake is a private lake with not many homes located on it, so you will enjoy open water and a quiet setting. It is a full recreational lake but does not typically have jet skis on it.

At the lake we have a canoe, swim raft, paddle boat to use and kayaks for rent. ATV trails are just at the end of our long driveway and can take you around the lake or into town.

The Grandmas, my husband and sister all enjoyed the Spider Lake Cabin. Everything we needed was there, very well appointed! The lake, decks and nature calmed our souls. We would LOVE to come back!

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at the cabin. Plenty to do with canoeing, paddle boat and swimming. Very private and could hear the loons every day. Great fire pit for a bonfire. Plenty of seating inside and out. Cabin had plenty of space and the kitchen was well stocked. So glad we could bring out Golden Retriever too. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and tranquil setting on gorgeous lake chain

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cabin with great access to beautiful water. Great swimming, fishing and canoeing. Outdoor seating on the cabin decks and fire pit is plentiful, comfortable, and relaxing. The mosquitoes are pesky, but can be dissuaded. The cabin is well stocked with everything a large family would need for food prep and there are tons of rainy day activities- movies, games, foosball, and darts. The cabin is neat and tidy. We brought box fans to help keep the air flowing at night and were very comfortable without air conditioning on hot sunny days. Our big family with children aging 2-13 had a fantastic time and have hopes of making it a return vacation.

Perfect! Clean, super comfortable, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

After 30 years of hit and miss lake cabin experiences - this one was finally JUST PERFECT! The well appointed, wonderfully private, and nicely updated log home includes it's own sweet little inlet and a great little beach for embarking in kayaks to explore a secluded and quiet chain of deep, small lakes. Very comfortable and clean beds and furniture, plenty of table lamps for the readers in the bunch. Well stocked kitchen - not one unpleasant surprise. Not ONE! We'll be back! ...P.S. Only 10 minutes from Birchwood - highly recommend the Paul's Pizza Den there - the smoked baby back ribs are amazing, and the Bear Bait dessert is scrumptious!

A Great Week Was Had By All!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 adults and dog spent a week at the Spider Lake cabin in mid-June 2016. As others have said, the pictures don't do the cabin justice. The very private setting is perfect for relaxing on land and lake. There are also lots of ways to expend as much energy as you want as well. Some of our folks said they felt they were staying in a tree-house. We heard the ATVs only a few times and generally things were very quiet.

The house is very well stocked with all sorts of necessities and extras, such as dishware and other kitchen supplies, linens and towels, comfort seating and table seating throughout, power outlets everywhere, some great DVDs, candles, flashlights, and more.

Some of the things we especially liked were all the swim toys, paddle boat, kayaks, hummingbird feeders, books/brochures on birds, lakes, and area attractions, ceiling fans, hooks everywhere, plenty of hot water, calls of the loons, fire pit and more. Despite my advanced age, I had my first authentic S'more at the fire pit - fantastic! There's a special rack of S'more supplies at Gary's Grocery in Birchwood.

We had great luck with a couple of meals out - lunch on the deck at the Hungry Minnow in Birchwood, the Friday fish fry at Prop's on Long Lake (ate outside on a night with a beautiful sunset), and lunch at Angler’s in Hayward.

In terms of wildlife we saw many deer (be very alert when driving), a bald eagle, turtles, loons, hummingbirds, orioles, and something like a muskrat. We heard tons of birds and on a couple of occasions an apparent pack of wolves (very far away!). The cabin had a limited supply of bug spray - be sure to bring some - the biggest annoyances were mosquitos and flies.

The water level on the Spider Lake chain was great. We were able to kayak from the cabin (lake #1) all of the way to lake #5. On a calm day, it's a relatively easy trek. Was one of the best things we did all week.

We found the Marketplace Foods grocery in Rice Lake to be excellent (there is one in Hayward as well). The adjacent liquor store has everything you could want - loads of craft beers. There's a good vet in Rice Lake if you need one (Rice Lake Animal Hospital).

The owner was very responsive to all our questions - responding in less than a day on all counts. The property is very clean and we highly recommend it to others.
