Location, Location, Location! One minute or so (by auto) from exit 23 on Hwy 87(Northway), is a terrific starting point for travel to the recreational playground of Lake George (5 min), Saratoga Race Track & Casino (30 min), winter sports at Gore Mt (25 min), Americade Motorcycle Event (2 blocks), World's Largest Garage Sale (2 blocks), and unlimited hiking & biking. Additionally there are many great golf courses nearby, or you can launch a canoe or kayak from the yard if fishing from the riverbank is not enough effort! Luckily there is renowned fine dining at The Grist Mill or Brunetto's ( within walking distance), and, of course, you can stroll into Warrensburg for morning coffee or a late night McDonald's snack attack!
Riverfront and woodsy setting feels like the wilderness, but village of Warrensburg only a 2 block walk. Pristine beauty, peace, and quiet, with all the conveniences of home.
Discounts for repeat visitors!: As a 'newby' at sharing my home, I have been extremely pleased and grateful to the families I have gotten to know (via email) through the before, during, and after rental process. As a result, I welcome them to re-visit at a discount!
I also will gladly accept their recommendations for any family or friends wanting to stay at my house, as they have proven themselves to be reliable, considerate, and extremely kind in their remarks and reactions.
Once we have traded emails and you decide you would like to vacation in my home, please call me at 813 765-6893 (preferred) or 813 996-6320 (home), to check each other out! For my peace of mind, and I assume yours, doing business by email isn't sufficient.
We consist of husband, wife, and two sons. Husband grew up in Albany and as a result the family were frequent visitors to the Albany area. After years of staying in family guest rooms, we decided to build a northern home for vacations, and ultimately retirement. Not only were we crazy to build long-distance from Florida, but who lives in sunny Florida and retires to the North! Of sound mind on both counts - house turned out to be a beauty & couldn't have chosen better for retirement - providing we can enjoy the beautiful seasons in NY and escape the cold on occasion.
The Lake George area holds great memories for us and always was the place to be. We were delighted to find a stunning piece of riverside property containing a 120 year old house, which had a hidden 'for sale' sign. After much time and $ attempting to save the old house, had it bulldozed to start anew. Although the long distance building project lasted 3-4 years, the results are worth it. A pictorial history of the building experience is available for your pleasure.
Our home is convenient and PRIVATE! Convenient in location and convenient in living. The house contains everything that we or visitors might need (with the exception of personal items). If you are looking for a 4 plates, 4 forks, etc. kind of place, this is not it! We come and go regularly and leave the house as if we were returning home. So far our 'homey' method has worked, and guests have cared for and enjoyed our home like their own. Did I mention the surroundings? The beauty of nature's 4 seasons surround the house, The spacious decks and plentiful doors and windows encourage staying put and contemplating what's good about life. During most seasons of the year, being surrounded by trees gives you total privacy.
The house is a great starting place when heading out for too numerous to list activities available in Lk George, Saratoga, Lk Placid, Vermont, Montreal, etc, and a better place to come home to. Leave the crowds/noise/confusion behind, and reminisce about your day's activities while relaxing on the covered deck and watching the river flow by.
Bonus! A new Price Chopper grocery store opened in 2014, and even though it is within walking distance of the house, for able bodied, there is no evidence that it exists behind the bend in the river. Especially nice is that it's open 24 hrs a day, during the summer season. If you run out of ingredients for S'mores at midnight, no problem.
We had a wonderful week in your home. Thank you! There were 8 of us in total (all adults) and we all fit comfortably. We did quite a lot of exploring - Fort Ticonderoga, Lake Placid (we did the bobsled experience), tubing down the Hudson River! Lake George is absolutely beautiful and we spent several night in those arcades. Despite these trips, our favorite moments were spent in the house - dinners on the deck, movies in the living room, making crossword puzzles and fishing in the river (we caught a big one)! All in all, it was a fantastic, relaxing vacation!
The Hermida Family
p.s. Food we liked - George Henry's and Martha's Ice Cream. Next time we'll try Brunetto's!
Stayed for week with family of 4 and my dogs. Home is very warm and inviting! Very clean. Loved the lighting on the deck. We ate outside every meal! Kitchen has all you can ask for. Lots of travel info at your finger tips! We white water rafted the Hudson, Adironack Rafting Company is the best! Soft serve at Maggies delish! Hiking, Biking, Caves etc. So much to do, could not fit it all in!!!
Thanks Rose, for sharing your home!
The Wilson Family
We stayed here for a week at the end of July; there were five of us in total: our two sons (age 20 and age 17), our older son's girlfriend (age 19), my husband and me. The house was perfect for our group!
I usually sat on the deck in the morning with coffee and my book and then again in the later afternoon with my adult beverage(s) and my book. We usually went out for dinner, but when we stayed in, we sat on the deck to eat. It was spacious, comfortable, and had a nice view of the Schroon River. One night, there was a big thunderstorm and we could sit on the deck and watch since the deck is covered.
It was very nice to have the finished basement with a TV and bathroom. The boys set their XBox up down there and when we weren't doing something together as a family, they could go downstairs and play games. Very nice!
It was great to have WiFi and cable TV. The livingroom furniture was comfortable and there was enough seating if we all wanted to watch TV together. The kitchen had everything we needed.
The location was very nice. It was a short drive to Lake George Village which has some nice shops for souvenir and Christmas shopping. We also went to Saratoga one day.
I went to a beach in Bolton Landing (Veteran's Memorial, I think is what it was called) which was very nice -- not crowded at all, and only $5 for parking. I also went to the beach one day in Lake George Village (Million Dollar Beach), but it was very crowded. I much preferred Bolton Landing.
Making the reservation was very easy and Rose returned our deposit promptly after we checked out. Both Rose and her sister-in-law, Chris, are very nice, flexible, and they are both happy to answer any questions and provide recommendatins on things to do, where to eat, etc.
We were very with our summer vacation this year and would recommend this house to others.
Three of us came up from NYC for a week in the country. We had never rented a house for a vacation before, and in fact our initial plan was to get two hotel rooms.
Wow, am I glad all the hotels were booked up! If that hadn't happened we never would have found this house.
We had a MUCH better vacation at this house than we ever could have had staying at a hotel, and after staying here once, we've realized how much a house like this can contribute to the rest and relaxation.
For three of us, there was of course so much space that we could all have some solitude. (There's even a second living room, complete with a second home theater system, in the finished basement!)
The kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools and appliances one could want, and a BBQ grill is on the patio... a real treat for us city slickers! And the fact that the kitchen is open to the living room means that we could all hang out together for the entire meal, from prep to cleanup.
For those meals we chose not to cook, we found some great restaurants less than a mile away. Next time we visit we'll try some that we didn't get to the first time!
Finally, the house is perfect for attending any event in Lake George Village. It's just far enough away to be out of the hustle and bustle that can overcome the Village during big events, but close enough that the ride into town was just a few minutes.
This rental Property is on the riverside with great facility for extended family who like to vacation together. For two years in a row I have had the honor to rent from Mrs. Rose. She is very kind and accommodating to her guest. Her close friends Kelly helped to check us in and out from the home and were a great resource for the area. My family 4, my parents 2, my sisters family 3 all stayed in the home as it was our own. It is plenty big enough and If you have a group of preteen and teenagers the basement is a great place for them to camp out for the week. with there own tv and bathroom it has plenty of room for them to enjoy vacation. The two loft rooms are large enough for 2 couples as well as the master BR. If need be a blow up mares in the study will work out as well. Enjoy the night life of Lake George and attend some of the natural local treasures. I recommend the fort, fireworks, arcade, natural bridge stone, and the old time carnival like amusement park Santa land great for the kids. Enjoy your vacation, Rose provides a great resource book for menus and planning.
My family and I just came back from this beautiful home with the most magnificent views. This home is nestled in the Adirondacks yet so close to Lake George with out the hustle and bustle of the crowds. Rose has everthing you need in a home for your use, We had breakfast with a view every morning.and watched the stars at night by the campfire.
Rose I can't thank you enough for sharing you home with my family and giving us such great memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you !!
