Our Great Room, features a dramatic fireplace that touches the top of the 20-foot vaulted ceilings.

Dinnertime is a breeze in our remodeled kitchen, there is plenty of workroom for multiple cooks to work together, with a fully stocked kitchen. The granite countertops, new stainless steel appliances and center island make cooking enjoyable.

There’s plenty of dining space for your whole group, including an 8-person dining table, a breakfast nook for 6 in the kitchen, and 3 more bar stools at the kitchen island. Not to mention a variety of outdoor sitting and dining nooks, including patio dining on the upper veranda and a riverfront picnic table, to name just two.

Two guest bedrooms have queen-sized beds in each. A third bedroom has a queen-sized bed plus two twin beds (great for families with young kids).

Casita, (garage apartment) has 2 queen-sized beds in the same room, as well as a full bath.

NOTE : garage apartment is an extra fee.

Get to the river by the staircase (130 stairs…but they’re worth it!). Rent one of our kayaks out on the calm waters of the Pedernales or swim or go fishing. On a cool evening, light a fire in the riverfront fire pit and watch the stars twinkle on the water.

Our Location is Spicewood, Texas (birthplace of Willie Nelson!) , with 4 nearby wineries, a brewery, Apis one of Austin’s top 10 restaurants, Zip line at Cypress Valley Canopy Tours, Krause Springs, Reimers Ranch preserve, golfing, rent a boat at Briarcliff Marina and explore beautiful Lake Travis. Overwhelmed with options? Treat yourself to the tranquility offered at the ranch and never leave.

About Wendy Rivers

I am a mother of 6 amazing adult children, a daughter, 2 sets of identical twin sons, and another son. I also have been blessed with 2 grandbabies over the past years, they are a joy. Pets are a big part of my life and my children's lives, we all love hiking and being in the great outdoors.

Wendy Rivers purchased this chateau / country house in 2005

Why Wendy Rivers chose Lake Travis

Stone Home Ranch was our primary home for over 5 , years then again 2012/13. After my youngest son was accepted in a local boarding school leaving me an empty nest, I have decided to share our home once again with guest and move into downtown Austin to experience the city life.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

I enjoy the tranquility, the wildlife, the views are breathtaking, home is very comfortable, hiking or taking walks, kayaking at the river, and the local food and music.

Stone Home Ranch is what I call 'My Slice of Heaven', it is truly magical.

Guestbook comments from the owner

wendy, i am so glad we found you and your beautiful house. the sisters started talking about santa fe next year, but then all agreed that we might want to come back to Stone Home Ranch (hopefully the thread all over the dining room rug will not hurt our chances).

We loved the space, the river the kayaks, and the chance to just be sisters. we came from three locations, california, wisconsin and florida. the girls trip is our week to just be sisters and bond with no family around. (we did have a whopper of a fight one

day and it was wonderful) we barely left the house as im sure willy must have told you.

then there were brewster and the kittys. we loved having animals around. we all miss our own pets when we travel, so having the resident furry friends was a huge plus.

here is what we made. 4 quilt tops, 1 tree skirt, one computer bag, one window seat bench cover, 90 snappy-ass bags, 17 aprons, 1 reel bag, 22 luggage tags, 5 headbands, 3 double clutches for sunglasses and reading glasses, 8 cloth shopping bags, a bathrobe, and that might

be it. it was a total sweatshop, and a good percentage of what we made goes to charities. aint that special. little do some of them know that we took regular gin and tonic breaks. love the porch, and the horses too.

willy put roses on our dashboard, so when we finally loaded and pulled out at 5 am this morning, we all had a wonderful goodbye rose to enjoy.

what a great week, thanks so much peeker

Top quality river home and property in Texas hill country

  • 5 of 5

Home is well appointed and well cared for. Outdoor spaces are inviting and where we spent most of our time. Views across the Pedernales river are excellent. House is several flights of stairs above the river. Riverside area has table, chairs, hammock, etc.

Everyone in our family group thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Great great great!!!...for the most part..

  • 5 of 5

Over all this was a great experience for the 10 of us that stayed here a couple of days. The owners are very accommodating to our requests. My fiance and I got married on the premises and it worked out nicely on the patio. There was however a few issues that we had to work around once we were there. It wasn't a deal breaker and we would consider staying again. The home is outstanding. It's very secluded, quiet and the stars at night are beautiful.

Beautiful remote location with private secluded riverfront

  • 3 of 5

Stonehome is a very nice large house with beautiful views and lots of peace and quiet. The kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming is fantastic. The owners responded quickly and kindly to any questions or troubles that we had. There were a few drawbacks though. When we arrived we had no hot water which we reported and it was fixed promptly but for the first 24 hours it was hard to shower and wash dishes, etc. Also, be advised that the house is very remote. A trip into the closest shopping area was 1/2 an hour away. It would have been nice to know that this might be an issue beforehand so that we could prepare for it. Also, no cleaning supplies were provided (no cleaning spray for the kitchen, paper towels, dish washer soap, laundry soap, garbage bags etc). The fire ants made hanging out down by the river a little dicey but there may not be too much to be done about that. The bird watching, deer grazing on the front lawn and the beautiful night sky were wonderful.

nice location for photos, thats the only plus!

  • 1 of 5

For the amount of money we paid I would at least expect a clean house upon arrival. floors were disgusting , smelled nasty in laundry room coming in possibly from the wandering cats outside? the pic of river is misleading as it is probably a 1/4 mile down a cliff trail from the house as it appears in their promo. Their propane BBQ is broken which says is provided to guests so that was a fail!! No hot water in area above the garage bathroom. Kitchen sink faucet leaks . Beds were uncomfortable. Needless to say we wont be using this rental again.

Owner's Response: At Stone Home Ranch we ask that our guest let us know within hours of arrival of any items that need attention. We work with our cleaners, and they have always done an amazing job, they would have been back in a flash if we had gotten notice of anything dirty or out of place. The grill and hot water heater were reported by our next guest and fixed within an hour. Our beds are all under 4 years old, and we supply a few different firmness levels, and protective cases on all to insure sanity. We do have outdoor cats that some guest love to feed and give attention to, but not allowed inside. Being in the country, the cats hunt any rodents and snakes, so helps with those creatures around the house. The river access does have 130 steps down the cliff as advertised, not a 1/4 of a mile, so I am curious if this group did not find the stairs at the back of our house and possible used another access. I am always more than happy to help with any items that make our guest feel at home and enjoy their stay, this is what we want.
