About the property

Rent the main house with 4 bedroom with or with out the garage apartment.

Stone Home Ranch is your exceptional country getaway, sitting high on the craggy cliffs of the Pedernales River, with stunning views of the Texas Hill Country. The main house has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths that can be booked alone when your group is 10 and under, also have a garage apartment with 2 queen beds and a full bath that can be booked when you need the extra room or it is paid for with 14 guest.

** Outdoor security cameras

Inside Stone Home-

Our Great Room, features a dramatic fireplace that touches the top of the 20-foot vaulted ceilings.

Dinnertime is a breeze in our remodeled kitchen, there is plenty of workroom for multiple cooks to work together, with a fully stocked kitchen. The granite countertops, new stainless steel appliances and center island make cooking enjoyable.

There’s plenty of dining space for your whole group, including an 8-person dining table, a breakfast nook for 6 in the kitchen, and 3 more bar stools at the kitchen island. Not to mention a variety of outdoor sitting and dining nooks, including patio dining on the upper veranda and a riverfront picnic table, to name just two.

The master suite has four-poster, king-sized bed, 40” flatscreen and sliding glass doors opening to a private patio. The attached bathroom has a 2-person tub, a double sink and a big walk-in shower.

Two guest bedrooms have queen-sized beds in each. A third bedroom has a queen-sized bed plus two twin beds (great for families with young kids).

The garage apartment has 2 queen-sized beds in the same room, as well as a full bath.

NOTE : garage apartment is charged extra when guest number goes over 10 guest. I do this to allow smaller groups under 10 to rent just the main house at a base price.

Get to the river by the staircase (130 stairs…but they’re worth it!). Rent one of our kayaks out on the calm waters of the Pedernales or swim or go fishing. On a cool evening, light a fire in the riverfront fire pit and watch the stars twinkle on the water.

Our Location is Spicewood, Texas (birthplace of Willie Nelson!) , with 4 nearby wineries, a brewery, Apis one of Austin’s top 10 restaurants, Zip line at Cypress Valley Canopy Tours, Krause Springs, Reimers Ranch preserve, golfing, rent a boat at Briarcliff Marina and explore beautiful Lake Travis. Overwhelmed with options? Treat yourself to the tranquility offered at the ranch and never leave.

About Wendy Rivers

I am a mother of 6 amazing adult children, a daughter, 2 sets of identical twin sons, and single son. I also have been blessed with 2 grandbabies over the past year and a half. Pets are a big part of my life and my children's lives, we all love hiking and being in the great outdoors.

Wendy Rivers purchased this chateau / country house in 2005

Why Wendy Rivers chose Texas

Stone Home Ranch was our primary home for over 5 , years then again 2012/13. After my youngest son was accepted in a local boarding school leaving me an empty nest, I have decided to share our home once again with guest and move into downtown Austin to experience the city life.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

I enjoy the tranquility, the wildlife, the views are breathtaking, home is very comfortable, hiking or taking walks, kayaking at the river, and the local food and music.

This is what I call 'My Slice of Heaven', it is truly magical.

Guestbook comments from the owner

wendy, i am so glad we found you and your beautiful house. the sisters started talking about santa fe next year, but then all agreed that we might want to come back to Stone Home Ranch (hopefully the thread all over the dining room rug will not hurt our chances).

We loved the space, the river the kayaks, and the chance to just be sisters. we came from three locations, california, wisconsin and florida. the girls trip is our week to just be sisters and bond with no family around. (we did have a whopper of a fight one

day and it was wonderful) we barely left the house as im sure willy must have told you.

then there were brewster and the kittys. we loved having animals around. we all miss our own pets when we travel, so having the resident furry friends was a huge plus.

here is what we made. 4 quilt tops, 1 tree skirt, one computer bag, one window seat bench cover, 90 snappy-ass bags, 17 aprons, 1 reel bag, 22 luggage tags, 5 headbands, 3 double clutches for sunglasses and reading glasses, 8 cloth shopping bags, a bathrobe, and that might

be it. it was a total sweatshop, and a good percentage of what we made goes to charities. aint that special. little do some of them know that we took regular gin and tonic breaks. love the porch, and the horses too.

willy put roses on our dashboard, so when we finally loaded and pulled out at 5 am this morning, we all had a wonderful goodbye rose to enjoy.

what a great week, thanks so much peeker

Awsome House

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful and there is lots of room outdoors. We would love to come back someday when the weather is better. We had a lot of rain during our stay. We still took the time to go down to the river and enjoyed a fire at night. We also had a visit with the donkeys and the horse. Willie the caretaker was very friendly and we all had a long chat.I would also like to visit after the wildflowers bloom. I would definitely recommend this place

and would come again.

Owner's Response: Even in with the rains, Stone Home Ranch can be a very peaceful place to be. If you take a stroll down the stairs just after a heavy rain there are lots of little waterfalls coming off the cliffs, juts mesmerizing! Please come back !

Beautiful. Not as advertised though.

  • 2 of 5

The property was just as beautiful as the pictures. We booked several months ago and it was advertised as wheelchair accessible at that time. My dad is in a wheelchair. When we got there we found he could not get to any toilets in his wheelchair. He was provided with a beside commode top with a used 5 gallon lowe's paint bucket underneath. For those that don't understand, that means voiding into a bucket and dumping the bucket all weekend. I see that the wheelchair accessible section has been changed to "n/a" now. It was, however, pretty applicable to us. There is also exposed wiring in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

Owner's Response: Inadvertently the 'wheelchair accessible ' box was checked on my vacation profile, I have fixed that. Also, I have personally talk to our guest, Gene, who is the gentleman of topic here, and extended a sincere apology for this mistake and in good faith sent him a small refund. Gene was very kind and seemed to not be aware of this review from his family member. Future guest will hopefully contact me right away in order to work with the problem at hand promptly. The wires mentioned here are old speaker wires that are not connected and will be covered so that there is no doubt for future guest. :)

Best retreat ever!

  • 5 of 5

We held our annual General Manager retreat here and I have to say it was the best retreat ever! The house was more amazing than I could have ever imagined! Everything was provided, all we had to get was food which was awesome! The views from the house were breathtaking! Anything we needed, the grounds keeper Dylan was there to help us with. We were able to conduct our meetings and then relax by the fireplace. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful property. We will surely be back! Thank you Wendy and Dylan!

Side note***we were able to meet the property cat and horse, it was amazing how friendly they were! I am a huge pet lover so to have them around was amazing!

Fabulous Girls Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our long weekend at Stone Home Ranch could not have been better. As we drove through the gate we were immediately struck by the beauty of the property and it only got better as we got our first glimpse of the house. It is a beautiful stone home, build entirely from stones gathered and uncut from the area. Dylan met us and gave us the tour of the home and grounds and was gracious and helpful in every way. We didn't want to leave the property because it is so gorgeous so we had Kathleen at the Tomato Happy Hour market cater and deliver our delicious evening meals. She uses all fresh ingredients and was super accommodating in every way. We loved sitting on the patio, in the chairs on the river bank and walking the road viewing wildlife! This was a place for beauty, contemplation, laughter and prayer for our group of ladies and we can't wait to go back. We returned home refreshed and grateful for a wonderful weekend together. Thank you Wendy for sharing your home with us and for being so great to work with.
