You are in the heart of everything! And blocks from metro stations!
Comfortable luxury, tourist hub location and world class customer service!
The unit was as advertised in the posting. It is in a great building and the unit (on the eighth floor) had a great view of the top of the Washington Monument. You are only five easy walking blocks to the Washington Mall and then only a few blocks to the Capitol Building.
In the opposite direction (3 blocks) from the unit is the subway green line and a Safeway store (with a Starbucks). Very convenient. Also in that area is a good restaurant called the 4th Street Grill. Good Happy Hour and good food. We just ate in the bar but it has a nice restaurant there too.
The host was very hospitable and responded quickly to any requests. She was very accommodating to our early arrival and allowed us to check in quite early on the first day. The process to check in was fairly easy.
The wifi worked well. The kitchen was equipped very well even though we did not do any cooking while we were there.
There is really only one negative and not sure the host can do anything about it. The air conditioner is so loud it is like a 747 taking off in your living room. When it comes on be prepared to turn up the TV volume to its highest level.
The most important thing is that the apartment was clean and accurately described by the owner. We had no real problems to contact the owner about and she communicated regularly to make sure we had what we needed. The best part was the easy access to public transportation. I had bought SmartTrip cards at wmata.com for $30 each and that was good for us for the entire week. There is a bus stop heading to the Mall and Smithsonian museums just in front of the apartment. It's about a 2 block walk to the Metro Station that takes you to the Nationals MLB stadium, or the National Archives. We also went to the zoo and the Capitol using the Metro. Walking home from the Metro is a full service Safeway and it was nice to spend the whole day out and then return to a full kitchen and make a healthy dinner and put our feet up! We really felt like locals in this rental.and would definitely return for another visit.
Comfortable, Clean, Convenient Studio Apartment on the 8th floor, plenty of sun with a far-off view of the Washington Monument. Upscale but not too stuffy elevator building with many features: exercise rooms, outdoor pool, laundry rooms, business center. Safe & Secure fobbed entrances, Concierge in the lobby. Everything you need to live like a local is provided for in the Studio: kitchen utensils, dishes, towels, Cable TV, wifi, etc. King size bed and a blow-up air mattress allow 2 - 3 people to live easily in the L-shaped studio with walk-in closet. Furnishings are fresh, the Studio is comfortably decorated.
Safeway (with an excellent salad bar and Starbucks inside) and a CVS Drug Store are just a two block walk away. There are three restaurants also two blocks away: Upscale Indian at Masala Art, Great GastroPub fare with Happy Hour deals and patio dining at Station 4, and burgers at All About Burger.
Street Parking is just 2 Hours with restrictions in some areas lasting until midnight, many are metered spots. Parking in the building can be arranged with the owner. Metro Stations are close: Waterfront Metro Station (green line) is 2 blocks away, Federal Center SW Station (blue, orange, silver lines) is 3.5 blocks away. The Mall is 5.5 blocks away.
The owner was very helpful and communication with her was extremely fast. The studio is located in a quieter neighborhood in D.C... a great base for exploring D.C. as a visitor or living within walking distance of the many government agencies based in the SouthWest part of the city.
We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return.
This apartment is convenient to EVERYTHING! We were able to walk to the museums, had a full service grocery a block away, and easy access to public transportation! We took advantage of Bike and Roll, rented a couple of bicycles and were able to see all of the monuments and Arlington Cemetery in an easy day, also biked from Alexandria to Mount Vernon. The owner was easy to reach and addressed any issue we had immediately. This was a wonderful home base for a busy week, can't wait to visit again!
This was our first visit to DC. My husband and I enjoyed visiting the many museums, monuments and restaurants.
Our rental unit was a short walk to the National Mall, Metro, bus stop, restaurants and grocery store.
The owner provided very detailed and useful information about the unit.
We would choose to stay here again when visiting Washington DC.
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Washington, DC and loved our accommodations. This flat is close to three different metros. We preferred the Waterfront or the Federal Center stations. It has a wonderful view of the Washington monument the owners were fantastic to work with. They were available for questions although we never needed to ask anything because their emails were very thorough. Would definitely stay here again!
This location is blocks walking distance to shops, grocery stores, Independence AVE, National Mall, Constitution Ave, American Indian museum, Pennsylvania AVE,. Navy Yard and many more!
Golf: East Potomac Park is a 300+ acre peninsula located between the Washington Channel and the Potomac River on the south side of the Tidal Basin. The park features many of Washington's famous cherry trees, has terrific views of the city and is a popular place for biking, running, fishing and picnics.
