From the moment you arrive at Villa Margherita your stress and worries will
Set high on a hill, the views of the entire Umbrian Valley are breathtaking! Enjoy stunning sunsets from the patio overlooking the gorgeous infinity pool and surrounding olive groves. Dining al fresco will be the most memorable Umbrian experience with a wood burning oven for pizza and bread and a stone barbecue for grilling meats.
The impeccably restored farmhouse is incredibly comfortable, very livable and completely private. It is ideal for a vacation or a longer stay. The furnishings are all of European design, high-end quality and the house can sleep up to 6 people.
To Frank - Grazie mile - Tom, Patricia and the kids- all 7 of us enjoyed a delightful stay. The views are dramatic, the breeze is fresh, and the nights sparkle with stars. There is a quiet elegance to the Villa. Magically within a day, it became home. With Assisi but 3 miles away as well as the restaurants in Spello equally close, it was a memorable family adventure. Thank you for sharing your Villa.
We have stayed at this villa three times. It is a very comfortable, beautiful property with a lovely pool. All the appliances and fittings are high quality and work perfectly. The location is very peaceful and the view from the property is very scenic. It's just a few minutes drive to Asissi, Spello, and other nearby towns. Both the owner and property manage are helpful, kind people who do their best to help us with anything we need, including directions to the nearest big grocery store, finding us a babysitter for our kids, cooking classes, restaurant recommendations, etc.
We spent 2 weeks with our parents (in-law) visiting Umbria Region. The villa is located in a beautiful setting overlooking the Umbria valley. The Villa is exactly as described in the brochure (immaculate, gate-entry, pool, etc...).
Prior to our arrival, we had contacted Jessica (concierge person in Italy) and she arranged local travel itinerary, food for the Villa, and a local map upon our arrival.
We spent the first night dining out near St Fransis of Assisi (10-mins away) overlooking the Umbria Valley. For the remainder of 10-day trip, we explored Cortona(movie Under the Tuscan Sun), Norcia, Florence, Orvietto, Spello and other nearby towns. Overall, the Villa is in a terrific location.
As frequent independent travelers, we would highly recommend this Villa to any traveler who 's looking for a outstanding vacation.
This place is absolutely beautiful, it is very secluded yet very close to many amazing medieval towns in the area. But, what made this place more special is Jessica. She made everything as easy as possible for us, from restaurant recommendations to where to go food shopping, places to visit etc. Jessica was the biggest help when our son needed medical treatment due to fever. We did not know our way around and did not speak Italian. Not only she took us to emergency, she spent half her Sunday with us at the hospital, communicating
with medical staff. People are like Jessica are very rare and I only wish we lived close by so we could be friends.
We will always remember our time in Umbria with fondest memories.
Perfect Location for Visiting Assisi and Umbria
On the slope of Mt Subasio with spectacular views of the Umbrian valley this villa is the perfect location for touring Assisi and the nearby Umbrian hill towns. 5 of us stayed, 2 couples in the 2 upstairs bedrooms and another adult on the pullout worked perfectly. The villa is recently renovated and very very clean with modern bathrooms and full kitchen. For us the highlight was the outside terrace and wood burning grills where we grilled out everything from sausages to pizza and enjoyed the evening sunset views along with a bottle (or 2) of vino. The villa is perfectly located in between the historic town of Assisi and the smaller but equally enchanting hill town of Spello only a few miles away. The owner was a pleasure to work with and the caretaker was there to greet us on arrival and point out everything and was very helpful throughout our stay. We stayed for 4 nights and it was awesome – don’t miss this stop, can’t wait to return and continue to explore the amazing country side in Umbria.
We were two couples and this spot was perfect. The valley views are breathtaking, the house itself immaculate, and the gardens are beautiful (and useful, since they had all sorts of herbs). Lots of time spent in the refreshing infinity pool, ahhhh. Close to town, quiet - the house was well stocked and everything worked and was high quality. There weren't even any mosquitoes as we dined al fresco, because the cool bats would swoop down over the pool at sunset and clear them all out. The property manager, Jessica, is TOPS. Helpful and kind, she met us in town and brought us to the grocery store upon arrival, and even invited us to her town for a drink one night and showed us around. A nice personal touch.
I loved this area of Italy, too. Spello is quaint, great restaurants, friendly people and beautiful vistas. Foligno has a little more action and modern shopping. And Assissi is gorgeous. And it's only an hour train from Rome! Go here, you won't be sorry.
We stayed at Villa Margherita from 21/8 to 4/9 and had a wonderful holiday with our 6 and 3 year old daughters. Specifically ;
* Location : 10minutes either way to both Spello and Assisi, both of which offer magical architecture, wonderful Cathedrals/Basilica and great restaurants - Tripadvisor was our trusty guide for this !
* Appliances : The Cooking facilities are a Chef's dream, with top of the range Miele appliances and the amazing pizza oven where you can cook your own wood fired pizzas - there's nothing better. Also a dishwasher was a bonus and this was used every day.
* Wi-Fi : We did not realise the Villa had Wi-Fi and this was fantastic as we could skype friends and family and search out the next tourist gem in Umbria !
* Garden : Great pool which our daughters loved and a nice herb garden with Rosemary, Sage, Chives, Thyme and Basil all at your disposal.
* At the end of the day : The sunsets down the valley towards Assisi were magical during our stay and the wonderful night-time lighting really added to the romance of being in Italy and enjoying good food and wine.
A sensational holiday, in a wonderful villa. Highly recommended, it was just perfect !
The house, which is completely private, is a heartbeat from the center of Assisi, known primarily as the birth place of Saints Francis and Saint Claire. Assisi is also known for its Medieval castles, beautiful Basilicas and Churches, works of art including being the birthplace of the renaissance with works by Cimabue, Giotto and many others and also for its rich culture and many festivals. There are countless shops, cafés, and restaurants that boast the local Umbrian cuisine comprised of basic ingredients: olive oil, among the best in Italy, wild boar, lamb, hard wheat pasta of the finest quality and the precious black summer truffles.
