Beachcomber's Lookout is a 3 bedroom 2 bath house with exceptional views of the beach and bay. Situated in the private community Treasure Island in San Luis Pass. It's close to Galveston, but less crowded than Surfside. Cleanest beach anywhere. No busy roads to cross. Best shell collecting and fishing in the area. Perfect for family vacations, honeymooners, or fishermen. Beachcomber's Lookout is fully furnished and has a new oven and washer/dryer. It will sleep up to 7 adults comfortably, with 2 extra twin mattresses which can be used for additional guests. The 3rd level is the master bedroom with a full bed, very private upstairs with it's own bathroom, HDTV, incredible view and deck. Fire and campsites on the beach are allowed. Firecrackers may be popped on the beach only. Bring the marshmallows and flashlights for nighttime adventures, as well as fun in the sun!
We live just North of Houston and use the house for our family and friends as well.
Cheri Schlosser purchased this house in 2009
We bought our house after Hurricane Ike repaired the damage to the exterior (House next door collapsed and hit side of house). Interior was also redone.
Very private and relaxing part of the beach. Our house is located on the nice beach on the gulf side of the pass. Many of the houses for rent are located on the dangerous pass side of the island and have a rocky shore.
Hello, we loved staying at he beach house and luckily we missed the problems with seaweed. The beaches were cleared and the water was clear (for Texas beaches). The place had great views even though we didn't have to trudge up a million steps like our last rental. Thanks Much! Rene
This property is in a prime location. Treasure Island is a nice and quiet neighborhood where you can still let loose and have a good time without the big and rowdy crowds. Literally 2 minute walk to the beach. Great sunrises and sunsets. Nice bon fire on the beach. The house is a perfect size for two small families. The only complaint is that the barbecue pit did have a hole in the bottom. Nothing a good thick patch of aluminum foil couldn't fix. But it probably does need to be replaced soon.
The house is fine and we had a nice time in San Luis Pass. It is a nice little neighborhood and if you are looking for a Texas Gulf Coast stay focused on a quiet beach not full of people and cars, this is a good location. This house is one of the closer ones to the beach access in the Treasure Island neighborhood. Even though it is a reasonable walk to the beach access, we rented a golf cart from Rick's rentals which made it very convenient to get back and forth to the beach, and the kids loved the golf cart.
The house is in good shape and was clean, though the furniture is sort of a post-modern-dorm room motif. Meaning it is clearly a collection of furniture cast-offs. That doesn't bother us, and is common in beach rentals. But if you're looking for fancy decor, this may not be your place. The kitchen was adequately outfitted and we were able to cook a few complete dinners with no problems at all, which is important to us. Grill is in good order too and is a permanent in-ground unit which was nice. There was a bit of a septic issue on our last night there which fortunately didn't cause any disruption to us (other than a bit of a foul odor if you were down by the grill), and things happen with houses so I'm not upset about it, but if you are renting you should inquire about the septic being fixed.
Now, the reason for only a three star review - I was not happy with the owner attention to detail in communications. Two fairly major gaffs - First was a premature note stating my second payment was past due. The other was a note stating the beach access is on the bay side (and we specifically had looked for rentals on the gulf side). When you are getting ready for a vacation, these are pretty major things that cause minor panic when the notes come in the days leading up to your vacation. I also received emails from both the wife and husband that did not seem to be quite in sync.
Lastly, after our stay, it took almost a week to get our deposit back.
My guess is they own several VRBOs and were at times confusing properties in their notes to me. Whatever the reason, it marred the overall experience.
This is easily fixed with a little more care and attention by VRBO owners, which is important. Hopefully they can improve the communications.
We had a wonderful beach vacation here. This cozy beach house is about 10 miles outside of Surfside- which we felt was better than actually staying in the city. The beach was cleaner and the subdivision was very nice. Everyone was very friendly, and the beach would was within walking distance- only 3 houses away from the beach. The house was clean and my kids loved all the decks that this house had. There was also an out door shower in addition to a foot wash by the stairs. We have nothing negative to say, we will most likely rent from this house again when we go on another family beach vacation. Thank you for the wonderful beach house!
Great home in a great area easy access to beach and really neat floor plan and layout accomadated my family perfectly, would definitely stay here again!
The location is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy some quiet time off the beaten path. The house is just a couple down from a secluded beach, and has everything you need. It was a short trip to Galveston when we went, but if you're looking to enjoy some sun and water, this is the place. Our family had a blast!
I am a tough critic so understand a 5 star is near impossible. I would certainly come back to this beach house again. The price you pay for what you get is a deal. So why a 4, the house could certainly use a fresh coat of paint and a little work on the decks but overall it was clean and comfortable for our stay. The three bedroom set-up was perfect for us and our five kids. The privacy of the master bedroom and deck was my favorite part of the house. The lack of internet and cable TV was greatly appreciated. The kids had to adjust (ok me too), but after a couple days it was great. The 100 yards to the beach was very nice and we left our EZ-up parked on the beach the entire time we were there. We could look out the living room window and see it. I greatly enjoyed the week and would gladly recommend this property to any family looking for a fairly inexpensive get-a-way.
